35. Jay

JAY

“How much longer till we can blow this joint?” Callie said, leaning over the counter. It was Friday, late afternoon, and Jay and Callie were wrapping up one of their shifts at the cafe.

“If I tell you or you look at the clock, time will never seem to move,” Jay said, and Callie sighed.

“True dat,” she replied. “I am just so excited for today! I get to spend an evening with my amazing boyfriends,” she practically squealed.

“I know what you mean,” Jay said, and she did. She couldn’t wait to be free of the cafe. Luckily, with it being Valentine’s Day, there had been more foot traffic than usual, couples coming in to grab lunch or a warm drink.

“So what are you two doing? Or should I ask, what are you doing for Kayla?”

Jay felt the stupid grin spread across her face. “What makes you think I am the one—”

“Jay, come on. We both know that while I’m sure you allow Kayla to shower you with her love and all of that good stuff, you definitely have something planned, especially if you need to borrow my car!”

Jay’s grin widened because her friend was right.

She couldn’t help it. She wanted to give Michaela the world, and because she couldn’t quite do that yet, she wanted to give Michaela a memorable Valentine’s Day.

She doubted Brian ever had. She thought Michaela deserved to be showered with all the love and all the good things.

And Jay intended to do that as much as possible.

“Fine, you got me,” Jay said, and Callie relaxed her shoulders and gave her a look that said I know.

“So I am going to take her out to the movies, popcorn and everything. We are going to see that new Salma Hayek and Matthew Perry flick. And then after, I am going to give her my gift, which is a pair of earrings for when she finally pierces her ears.”

“Oooh mate, you can do it for her,” Callie said, and Jay laughed and shook her head.

“No idea what kind of stuff the three of you are up to, and I am good not knowing everything,” Jay finished as Callie opened her mouth. “What are you three getting up to anyway?”

“I thought you didn’t want to know?” Callie said, raising her eyebrows.

“Callie, you know what I mean!”

Callie laughed. “Fine, if you must know, Bjorn has invited us over to his swanky apartment and is going to make us dinner. I have no idea what Kevin has in store, but I have been working on two pieces for them. One is a painting for Kevin and the other is a drawing for Bjorn, since he seems to favor my sketchwork. Both are portraits of them.” Callie had a dreamy look on her face.

“That sounds amazing, Callie,” Jay said, thinking it was lucky to have a creative talent in order to make something meaningful for someone you love. She thought about Michaela’s writing and smiled.

“Somehow, I know that this whole thing about me and my boys has made you think of your girl,” Callie said with a knowing look.

“Well, she is amazing.” Jay shrugged.

“God, look at us, two of the hottest girls on campus, and we are both lovesick.”

“I think it looks good on us,” Jay said.

“Everything does,” Callie replied.

“Totally the truth,” Jay said, and they both laughed.

The rest of their shift went by with more joking around, until finally, they were on their way out.

“So you want me to just park over where you normally do right, when we get back tonight?”

“Yup,” Callie said, getting into the white BMW.

“Thank you again, so much,” Jay said as she fastened her seatbelt.

“Just don’t get anything on the seats,” Callie said, starting the ignition.

“Callie, we wouldn't have sex in your car.”

“I mean look, what I don’t know won’t hurt me.”

“Ew,” Jay said, and Callie stuck out her tongue without looking at Jay.

“Doubt its gross Jay, you both are—”

“Okay!” Jay said, and Callie laughed again.

“I am just teasing, baby, but yeah, just park where I normally do, I’ll get the keys from you later.

Bjorn is picking me and Kev up so it’s really no issue.

I trust you both.” She let out a noise as they pulled into traffic.

“Right, so don’t forget to spare some time from lip-locking this weekend to talk to Kayla about Spring Break? I’d love to have you both.”

“We will let you know, I think it might be nice,” Jay said. While spending Spring Break with Callie would likely be fun, Jay couldn’t think about that right now. All she could think about was how badly she wanted to see Michaela’s smile and hear her laugh over and over again.

“I think I could listen to Salma Hayek recite the most boring literature, and I would love it,” Michaela said as they emerged from the theater closest to campus.

It was a clear and crisp night, full of people who were also on dates.

With all the love in the air, Jay couldn’t help it; even though they weren’t on campus, in their little known areas of safety, Jay was holding Michaela’s hand. Michaela held hers right back.

“I think I could watch Salma Hayek recite anything and never grow bored,” Jay said, and Michaela gave her shoulder a friendly push.

After a moment, Michaela said, “Though, she is super hot and stunning and obviously talented. Like, if you also dated her I wouldn’t be mad.

So long as she took me on as a sugar baby,” Michaela said, and Jay could tell she was just being silly.

But Jay appreciated the joke. They hadn’t talked much more about what it meant for Jay to be polyamorous, but Jay figured that’s because there was nothing to talk about.

She was with Michaela and exploring a friendship with Diana at the moment.

Still, the joke made Jay feel at ease, like the topic had lost the weight and hold it had had on them back in December.

“Yeah? You want to be in a throuple like our friends?” Jays finally replied.

“I mean, it’s Salma Hayek, so…” Michaela said, chuckling. “Besides, I know you wouldn’t bring just anybody into this with us.”

Jay looked up at her girlfriend and saw the sincere expression on her face. “Mickey, you are the best, you know that?”

“Why, because I would be okay with us dating Salma Hayek? Not exactly a tall order.”

“You know what I mean,” Jay said, in between laughter.

They walked hand in hand until they reached Callie’s white BMW. In a moment of complete giddiness, Jay used the key to open the passenger side first. Michaela beamed at her as she sat down. After Jay heard the lock–you could never be too careful–Jay used the key to open up her side.

“Are we headed home?” Michaela said.

Jay would never get tired of her referring to their space as home. “I think we deserve some ice cream first. What do you say?”

“You know I am not going to say no to ice cream.”

They sat on the hood of Callie’s car. The ice cream parlor was packed with couples and besides, Jay didn’t want any odd looks or stares to ruin this moment. The parking lot was well lit, and others had gotten the same idea, it being a nice night and all.

“Callie wanted to know if we’ve thought about Spring Break at all.”

“Yeah, I think it would be super fun. Do you think Iris and Davis could swing it? I don’t want to leave them behind or anything,” Michaela said, going back to licking her vanilla and sprinkles.

“No idea, but I can talk to them,” Jay said, taking a long lick of her chocolate soft serve with extra chocolate chips.

“This semester feels like it’s really flying by, it would be nice to be able to get away with the gang for a while,” Michaela said.

“You mean with the Collective?” Jay said back teasingly.

“God, you know, Callie is threatening to get jackets or shirts made.”

“I would love that,” Jay said, leaning her head on Michaela’s shoulder.

“Of course you would. Can’t believe they got to you.”

Jay laughed, a full laugh that was frankly too large for the small comment, but she was just so happy. She was drinking in the evening and how much she appreciated the moments she spent with Michaela. How much she wanted to protect these moments and have more and more and more of them.

“Mickey?”

“Yeah?” Michaela said, her voice muffled as she finished her cone, something Jay would have to do soon if she didn’t want to be a mess.

“I love you.”

They rode back to campus in comfortable silence. Iris and Davis had explained they would likely not be home for the evening, so it wasn’t a surprise that when they entered the suite, it was empty.

“I am going to shower before bed,” Michaela said sweetly, and Jay decided she didn’t want to be apart from her for any reason.

“I’ll shower with you.”

To Jay’s surprise, Michaela looked a little nervous and apprehensive. “Ah,” Michaela began, “How about I go first? Sorry, I need the room, gotta do a full shave.”

“Oh come on, like I have never shaved your legs or anywhere else,” Jay responded playfully. Shaving Michaela’s legs was an experience Jay had unexpectedly found erotic as hell. Shaving Michaela’s face felt more intimate, like their nights spooning one another naked.

“I know, but please, not tonight. Can you shower after me, if you’re showering? Actually, you probably should, you know, movie theaters and all.”

Now Jay was confused. “Movie theaters and all?” she repeated.

“I’ll get my stuff first and then you can shower after me, sounds good!” Michaela said decisively and then swiftly disappeared into their room. Jay thought about the small bottle of sparkling wine she’d gotten Sasha to buy for her and left in the fridge. Guess they would open it later.

Twenty minutes later, after a suspiciously short shower for someone who had to do a full shave, Jay was showered and getting ready to enter their room. When she finally opened the door, her voice lodged into her throat.

There on the bed, was Michaela, in a red cut-out corset, a garter belt with garters and red sheer stockings.

She was lying on their bed, on her side, facing the door so that her body was on full display.

Her long twists were loose, cascading over her shoulder.

Jay thought if she could see herself right now, she would look like a cartoon character with her eyes popping out of her head, jaw on the floor, and tongue rolled out and slobbering.

“Mickey,” Jay heard herself say hoarsely, as if she hadn’t spoken in days, possibly ever.

“Hi Jay, happy Valentine’s Day. Do you like it?

” Michaela said, sitting up and getting onto her knees to give Jay another vantage point.

Scanning her body, Jay could tell that Michaela had even tucked, something neither of them were big on doing, but the idea that there was more of her hiding beneath the pair of red panties had Jay’s mouth watering.

The idea that knowing that when she got to Michaela’s center, more would be revealed, like a flower blooming.

“Oh my god,” was all Jay could say, her eyes traveling all over Michaela’s lean body. Her perfect body. Her perfect body that Jay was going to devour. “Mickey, Jesus, you look amazing.’’

“So, not thinking about Selma?”

“Who?” Jay asked, genuinely confused for a moment before her brain finally caught up and heat flared through her body.

Michaela had made a joke, and she knew the effect she was having on Jay.

Michaela was liking the effect she was having on Jay.

Jay had a moment of pure happiness at the strides her girlfriend had made.

How she was in front of her, in lingerie, putting herself on display for Jay, proudly.

Michaela laughed slightly. “I’m so glad you like it.”

“Baby, it’s you that I like, you are making this a straight vision right now, holy shit,” Jay said quickly, now understanding why Michaela had insisted on them showering separately. “I’m caught between wanting to rip it off you and begging you to never take it off.”

Michaela’s smile was megawatt and Jay kept slipping between how stunning her girlfriend was, how happy she felt, and how incredibly horny she’d become in a small amount of time.

“Well you can do what you want, this is my gift to you,” Michaela said sweetly.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean you can have me however you want tonight. Tell me what you want, your desire, I want to fulfill it.”

Michaela was going to kill her. For a moment Jay didn’t speak. She just sat there staring, feeling her pants tighten with every breath.

“Anything?”

“Anything,” Michaela repeated.

“Can you be on top? I want to look at you over me.”

Michaela smiled. “Yeah Jay, I’d like that too.”
