Chapter 30 - Blair #2

As I was pondering about it, another instance came back to me when I was scratched that second time, and the wounds were ghastly and painful.

The pain had stopped suddenly when she hugged and touched me.

If she was able to heal, I bet she did that for me without my knowledge. Why wouldn’t she tell me?

Me: I'm sure Asmodeus thanked you already, but I wanted to reiterate how much I appreciate you saving me and my baby's life. I'm sure we wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for you.

Thea: Of course sweetie. I'm glad I was there and could help.

Me: Can I ask you about it?

Thea: Sure, you can ask me anything.

Me: How were you able to heal us?

Thea: With extremely strong healing magic.

Me: Does that mean you're a witch?

Thea: Technically yes, and technically no. Healers are their own species. But they have magic just like witches do. Some do consider us witches.

Me: I'm going to take a guess here and say your magic only involves healing and no other forms?

Thea: That's correct. Some people can even use multiple kinds of magic. But my family line is strictly healing.

Huh… interesting. There are pieces here that fit, but there are still things that need to be answered that I don’t have information on yet.

It seems like there was quite a few things in this world that went unnoticed and hidden from humans.

There was a part of me that thought we purposely ignored it, claiming ignorance because it was easier than admitting the truth to ourselves.

After the conversation I had with Asmodeus and his assumption that I was not human, I went ahead and went through all my boxes to find my mother’s collection that I had kept after her death.

Thank god for not wanting to get rid of all this and keeping it all.

There were apparently three boxes full of books, documents, and journals she had.

A lot of it was stuff I had never seen before.

Where in the world was she keeping it when I was younger?

It’s not like we had a lot of space growing up.

My parents had worked hard, and we lived in a small house that they had rented when they were newly married and were ready to settle down with one another. It was only a 1,200 square foot house.

It was a bit of a sore spot going through her things. After she died, I had everything packed away that I had planned on keeping, and selling or getting rid of everything else. I had put it away somewhere where I wouldn’t be reminded. It was challenging to see her things and not want to cry.

Asmodeus was doing his typical caveman routine of not allowing me to pick up anything over the weight of five pounds since I learned I was pregnant.

I rolled my eyes when he asked me where I wanted the three boxes, but I told him where, and he brought all of them from the garage into the house for me, putting them upstairs in the loft.

He had helped me set up a cozy little library space with a giant, fuzzy chaise lounge in the center of the room and a small desk along the wall in between the bookshelves.

I opened the boxes and began sorting out the contents.

I had a place for the books, wanting to ensure they were kept together.

I put the records and legal-type documents in their own box.

Then all the journals were piled on the desk.

There were a few items I had no idea what they were, putting them together separately to figure out at a later time.

I went ahead and started with the book collection that my mother had.

Some of it didn’t even look like they were books from the present time.

They had old, dark leather casings, and the pages were yellow and weathered.

Some of them were extremely large and heavy.

One of them was the size of a pillow. We had that one on the desk.

These books reminded me of the Spellbook in Hocus Pocus.

Looked to be at least 100 to 200 years old.

Some of the books and journals I found and combed through weren’t even in English. I had to have Asmodeus help me with those. For the most part, he couldn’t read the writing, but could tell me what language they were or the species that had written them.

Many of the books came with hand-drawn pictures and diagrams inside.

There were lists of items and directions that followed, almost like a cookbook.

The most fascinating book right now was an encyclopedia of supernatural creatures on Earth, but also in the other realms, such as purgatory and heaven.

Although the names weren’t always aligned.

I went searching for any information there was on demons.

Was this going behind his back? Couldn’t I ask him for this information myself?

I know he would answer me truthfully and give me any information I wanted.

But I could do both, right? I mean, maybe there wasn’t much in these books anyway.

As I flick through, I finally find what I’m looking for.

From what I can tell, it talks about the hierarchy of demons, the types of demons, and how they live.

Doesn’t really talk much about their powers or how they mate. It seems like there isn’t much to gain.

After going through the boxes, I suddenly felt tired and couldn’t keep my eyes open. I move into the bedroom and lie down for a moment, falling asleep instantly.
