Chapter Fifteen

Drew

Drew had danced with his mom, he’d danced with his sister-in-law, he’d danced with the maid-of-honor, and he’d even danced with his brother. Outside of his brother’s wedding, though, he really hadn’t danced at all. Hadn’t cared to. But oh, when Zach had asked him to dance just minutes ago, it had set his heart afire, especially when he’d pulled back to see that smile and those blue eyes looking so hopeful. Dancing sounded like just about the best thing in the world.

Zach had insisted Drew not leave their embrace, not even to put on more clothes than just their boxers. But that was perfectly fine with Drew, because he couldn’t deny how good it felt to have Zach in his arms—especially knowing that even though something had been bothering Zach, the simple act of Drew holding him had seemed to help. It tugged at his heart and filled him with a sense of warmth and belonging like he’d never known before. And while Drew would have preferred music to dance to, Zach had declined that for the same reason—he hadn’t wanted to let go. Drew couldn’t stop his heart from hoping that Zach would never let go.

Resting his cheek against Zach’s, Drew swayed them gently at first. Then he started singing the first song that came to mind. As he crooned softly and led them in some modified version of a slow dance, he marveled at how amazing it felt to dance with someone like this. Someone he felt so much for. Someone he loved.

Drew let his fingers draw an aimless pattern at the small of Zach’s back. He loved how soft his skin was there and how sometimes Zach would move in such a way as to put just a bit more pressure in that spot, like he craved Drew’s touch and needed more. He couldn’t blame him—Drew craved Zach’s touch just as much.

The song came to an end—he thought he’d gotten most of the words right—and Drew kept them swaying, gently untangling their joined hands and then slipping his hand around Zach’s back. He shifted to brush a kiss on Zach’s cheek. “More?”

Zach hummed contentedly, his free hand finding Drew’s waist, fingers flexing and pressing into his flesh lightly. “No, I think I want to get back into bed and snuggle.”

Drew grinned, and there was a hint of amusement in his voice when he responded. “I could go for that.”

“Why does snuggle sound so... silly? There’s cuddle, too, but that seems just as silly. But what else is there to say—nestle? embrace? That one’s not bad, actually, and—”

Drew captured Zach’s lips, stopping his rambling. His kiss was brief but deep, and he felt Zach smiling against him as it ended. “You’re adorable. And I want to do all of those with you. C’mon,” he murmured, taking Zach’s hand in his.

“It’s getting late. I suppose we ought to get ready for bed before we settle in?” Zach asked as they headed back to the bedroom. “And oh, shoot! I need to text my mom! I should do that first before she calls at an inopportune time. Not that... I mean, if there is one. I’m not—I don’t have... plans or anything. God, why is this so awkward? ”

The blush creeping up Zach’s face made Drew’s pulse tick up a notch. Damn, he was gorgeous. Drew brought Zach’s hand up to his mouth to brush a kiss along his knuckles. “Me either. We’ll figure it out. And, uh, I don’t have plans either, but I, um, wouldn’t mind if... more happens.”

Zach let out a short huff and squeezed Drew’s hand, stepping closer to him so his lips were mere inches away. “Me either.”

There was a twitch of interest from his groin, but he knew that anything more would have to wait. Zach needed to contact his mom, and Drew needed to shower and brush his teeth.

“I’ll go first? Give you a chance to text?” Drew suggested.

Zach nodded and let go of Drew’s hand, sighing heavily as he walked over to the nightstand to grab his phone. Drew breathed a wistful sigh of his own, snagged one of the two free toiletry kits from beside his messenger bag where he’d left it earlier, and then headed to the bathroom to get ready for bed.

After brushing his teeth and taking a quick shower, Drew dried himself off and then wrapped the towel around his waist. He paused to study his reflection in the mirror. It was funny how he almost didn’t recognize himself. There was something happier, lighter about him—and though it didn’t quite make sense, Drew was hard-pressed to pick out any one detail from his reflection that had changed. Though maybe that was because the biggest change was something he felt most on the inside, something joyful and bright and whole.

Even the reminder he’d gotten from his mom earlier, about his brother and family coming to town this weekend, hadn’t been able to weigh down this new buoyancy in his heart. Not that he didn’t love his brother or get along with Sherri or want to meet his brand-new niece...

It was just that seeing them and how happy they were, watching their little family grow, had always made him feel so alone. Any time he thought of them or talked to them, he’d have the same pangs of sadness and grief and longing, longing for something he was sure he’d never have.

And now . . . maybe . . .

He let out a strong huff and shook the rest of the thought off. He didn’t want to let his mind get carried away. He was just going to enjoy the here and now. He was going to hold Zach and make love to him and just enjoy the fact that everything felt perfect, right here in their little slice of heaven.

Their little slice of heaven that they’d get to enjoy for another whole day. His mom, being the constant worrier that she was, had called to check in on him but also to let him know what she’d heard on the news about the storm causing further delays.

Drew smiled at his reflection, then padded out of the bathroom and into the bedroom to share the news with Zach, if he hadn’t already heard it from his mom. Just as Drew stepped into the room, Zach put his phone down on the nightstand and stood, and when he turned around to face Drew, he seemed to freeze.

“What’s wrong?” Drew asked, confused and a little worried at Zach’s wide-eyed expression.

“Fuck, you’re gorgeous,” Zach blurted out, his eyes wandering the expanse of Drew’s body as though he was ready to devour him.

A pulse of arousal shot through Drew, making everything warmer, especially his cheeks, which he was sure must be deep pink by now. He looked down at himself and then back at Zach. “This covers me more than the briefs did...”

Zach made his way around the bed and closed the distance between them in a few quick strides, and when he stopped in front of Drew, he splayed his hands out on Drew’s chest. “C’mon,” he whispered huskily as his hands wandered and his lips got closer, “surely you’ve seen enough mainstream media and, uh, the other kind of media to know that ‘sexy man in towel fresh from the shower’ is waaay hotter than ‘sexy man in underwear.’”

Drew’s hands rose to press against Zach’s abdomen, their lips almost touching. “I don’t know, you’re looking really, really attractive right now. Handsome. Gorgeous. Sexy as hell.” Drew gave Zach a breathless kiss, and the temperature in the room seemed to jump.

He rested his forehead against Zach’s, closing his eyes for a moment and working to catch his breath. Zach, however, didn’t stay idle. His hands found their way up around the nape of Drew’s neck, making his skin tingle and his breath shudder even more. With a groan, Drew let his hands wander around to Zach’s backside to cup his ass cheeks, then he pressed Zach closer, showing Zach just how aroused he already was.

Zach’s moan of pleasure only fueled Drew’s desire, but when Drew tried to capture Zach’s lips, Zach pulled back with a grin. “I still have to shower, you know.”

God, the rasp of his voice and the feel of their hard erections pressing together was so intoxicating, and Drew wasn’t very inclined to let Zach go right now. “I could shower with you? You know, conserve water and all?”

Zach let out a husky laugh. “That’s not how that works, you know, not if one of us already took a shower.”

“So you don’t want company?”

“Ah, I didn’t say that. I just”—Zach leaned in to press open-mouthed kisses just below his jaw—“really want you to be honest about your conservation efforts.”

Drew grinned as he tilted his head to the side, giving Zach more room to explore. “Is that so?”

“Mm-hmm,” Zach hummed against his skin before nipping at his earlobe .

“Well, then I’ll just have to confess to ulterior motives, won’t I?”

“And what would those be?”

“God, I’m not even sure, but I can’t get the image out of my head—you, naked under the spray of the water, watching it cascade down over your muscles and your curves.”

Zach seemed to murmur some sort of agreement, but Drew wasn’t sure—all he knew was he was now walking backward, propelled by Zach’s kisses and caresses as he led them to the bathroom. Drew’s shoulder bumped and grazed the doorframe, and they maybe narrowly steered clear of the double vanity. They were a mess of breathless panting and desperately exploring hands, but they finally made it to the shower door.

Drew managed to tear himself away from Zach’s mouth to open the door, turn the water on, and adjust the temperature. Thankfully, since he hadn’t gotten out long ago, the water didn’t take long to heat back up, and then they were both naked and standing directly under the showerhead, their breathless kissing continuing as though they hadn’t paused at all.

Zach’s skin was warm and slick, and Drew ran his hands all over Zach’s back and let them slide over the firm curves of his ass, squeezing and then pulling Zach flush against him. They both groaned when their dicks pressed together. Zach’s erection seemed just as hard as Drew’s felt, like they hadn’t each already come twice this evening.

God, Drew hadn’t had more than two orgasms in a day since he was a teenager, but with Zach, he almost felt as though he’d never find his limit, never not be hot and hard and ready to make love to Zach. Which wasn’t at all realistic, but his heart and his libido were singing in concert right now, daring Drew to try and prove them wrong .

Heated kisses and touching managed to slow to languid caresses as Drew slowly washed Zach. His hands slick with body wash, Drew took pleasure in letting them slide everywhere on Zach’s body, from his toes back up to his collarbone. Carefully and slowly and after Zach closed his eyes, Drew ran his soapy fingers over every feature of Zach’s beautiful face. Then he gently guided him to rinse his face, followed by the rest of his body.

When he was done, Drew straightened again and immediately got lost in the look of deep affection and heady desire in Zach’s eyes. Zach pulled him into an embrace, and Drew’s arms went up automatically, circling around Zach’s waist as they hugged each other tightly, the warm water sluicing down their bodies.

“Thank you,” Zach whispered.

Drew found himself choked up for some reason, unable to find any words, so he just nodded, his cheek brushing against Zach’s as he did. It was so different, this . . . this state of being so emotional but also still so very aroused. He was content here, not moving for a moment and just holding Zach and feeling his nearness. And he marveled at it, let his heart and soul soak up the feeling of loving someone and feeling so loved in return.

It wasn’t long, though, before he felt Zach’s lips against the wet skin of his neck, nipping gently and then soothing, and the slow, steady burn of his arousal suddenly picked up even more heat and sent jolts of need through his body.

Drew let his hands slide from Zach’s waist and over his perfect ass cheeks, and he squeezed, feeling the flesh and muscle. He groaned with pleasure—or maybe that had been Zach—and then he loosened his grasp and caressed more with his open hands. His dick was twitching with want, throbbing against Zach’s erection, and his fingers moved restlessly, craving another kind of touch he’d never experienced before .

Zach’s lips traced a quick path from where they’d been at Drew’s collarbone to his jaw and chin and finally his mouth. “You make me feel so good, baby,” he murmured against Drew’s lips just before kissing him.

“You too,” Drew managed between kisses. “I want...” His right hand shifted over, and his middle finger teased at the top of Zach’s crease. “Can I touch you?”

“God, yes. Please, baby.” His words were raspy, and he rested his forehead against Drew’s.

Drew slid his finger down between Zach’s cheeks, the water helping a bit to ease his way, and they both gasped with pleasure when the tip of Drew’s finger glanced over Zach’s hole. He massaged with a firm but gentle pressure, and Zach shuddered in his arms, burying his head in Drew’s shoulder.

He wrapped his other arm tightly around Zach as he continued caressing Zach’s entrance, relishing every one of Zach’s light movements as he reacted to Drew’s touch. God, he hadn’t imagined it being this intense a feeling—just touching Zach, giving him pleasure—but his insides burned with desire, and there was a strong tug at his heart.

Zach lifted his head to give Drew a breathless kiss. “More,” he whimpered. “I want more. Lube. I have lube in my bag.”

Drew’s dick twitched hard, and he brought his free hand up to cup Zach’s face, pausing for a moment to memorize the intensity of desire in Zach’s eyes. Then Drew leaned in to capture Zach’s lips, and Zach moaned lightly into his mouth as Drew pressed again at his hole.

His heart was racing, his whole body tingling as though his blood were on fire. He sensed that, if he was feeling this way—only just barely able to focus on standing—that Zach was probably no better off and wouldn’t make it if Drew left to search for the lube .

“I’m going to turn the water off, baby,” he told Zach, the endearment rolling off his tongue before he could give it any thought. “Let’s dry off so we can continue in bed, where we don’t have to think about standing.”

Zach let out a noise that was somewhere between agreement and amusement, and he leaned into Drew just a bit more.

“I’ve got you,” Drew whispered against Zach’s warm, damp skin, “I’ve got you, baby.”
