5. Haze #4

“Damn, bro…you sure pack a hell of a punch.” Spider taunted me, but I wasn’t in the mood for him or anyone else. I swung my arm a second time, slamming my bloodied fist straight into his smug face again and again, groaning as I shook with absolute anger.

“Haze!” I snapped my head back at my brother. “Easy, hermano. Just…take a breath and tell us what the hell is going on?”

And for the first time in my life, my older brother didn’t look so scary. He looked fucking weak.

I tilted my head and released Spider, rising to my feet. “Take a breath?” I scoffed and ripped the KA-BAR from his monitor. Sparks sputtered from the ruined laptop, and I walked towards him, raising the blade. “She wouldn’t even be in this situation if you didn’t fucking force her!”

“Hermano! Who?”

His ignorance sent me over the edge, and I charged him, swinging the blade.

He tried to knock it from my arm, but I used my strength to my advantage and slammed his body fiercely into the wall.

Felix instinctively went into combat mode, dodging the KA-BAR.

I sliced the skin of his cheek before he finally knocked it from my grasp.

“This is all your fucking fault!”I shouted, hitting him with my fist. Felix deflected a few of my punches and tried to get the upper hand, but I was too erratic.

Too enraged. Even with all his military training, he still couldn’t prepare for this side of me. No one could.

I finally landed my fist along his jaw, throwing him off balance as I kneed him in the gut, knocking him to the floor. He groaned, spitting a mixture of spit and blood onto the floor. “Haze—”

I knelt over and gripped a fistful of his black hair, forcing his face up to me.

“She’s gone,” I growled before slamming him down to the ground.

He groaned, still weak from his last encounter with Kief.

“They fucking took her.” I stepped over his body, keeping him tightly restrained between my legs as I reached out and began to choke him, seeing nothing but red.

“They fucking took her!” I squeezed my hands tighter around his thick neck, watching as his eyes began to bulge.

His face began to turn a deep shade of red.

“Who—”

I glared down, feeling no shred of guilt or loyalty as I fully intended to kill him for putting my twin in danger…the one thing I loved most in this fucked up world. “Indi,” I growled, feeling tears form in my eyes.

His eyes widened as he realized what was happening. “Haze…please.” He smacked my arms, but it was useless. I ignored his pleas, refusing to let go. And I would've killed him right then and there, had the soft click of a gun not caught my focus.

I slowly raised my eyes to see Dream standing a few feet away, holding her metallic pink handgun. “Let him go.”

I sucked my teeth and glared at her, the sound of Felix’s gasping breaths filling the silence between us.

I half expected her to be nervous, but there was nothing behind those damn hazel eyes.

No fear or worry. Not even a shred of care.

Just absolute emptiness. And then I realized exactly what kind of a person she was.

I grinned, reluctantly released Felix. “Fine.”

Felix coughed and gasped, gagging on the air. But I didn't move. I just stared at his woman, daring her to pull the trigger.

Dream didn’t budge or show any kind of expression. She just stood there, keeping her sight locked on me, the barrel aimed directly at my forehead. “Step away. Now.”

I can see why Felix likes you so much. You’re fucking crazy.

I slowly stood and backed away from my brother, slightly amused. Felix gasped and rubbed his neck, looking up at Dream. It wasn’t until he finally stood up and placed his hand on her handgun that she finally lowered it.

“Us Osvaldo men really do have a type, don’t we?” I snapped. They both glared at me, unamused.

Spider groaned and sat up. “Care to explain what the fuck just happened?”

I shot him a look, still enraged. “You’re fucking lucky you’re not dead right now.”

He rolled his eyes. “Obviously, but.” He stood up and joined the other two. “What made you go ballistic? And what happened to Indi?”

My face darkened, and I walked over, grabbing my KA-BAR, returning it to its sheath. “They took her.” The three of them exchanged a look.

“They…took Indi?” Dream’s usual demeanor had suddenly returned.

I removed the jacket of my suit and rolled my sleeves.

They noticed I was soaked, covered in scraps and blood.

“They did. I tried to chase them down and even drove after some of Kief’s associates, but it was too late.

She was already gone.” I turned to look at them, no longer the Haze they knew, but the one everyone should fear.

“I’m going to find her. And when I do, Kief is dead.

” My eyes shot to Felix. “Nothing else matters anymore.”

He stared at me with a blank face.

I looked at him closely and took a step, the three of them slowly moving back as I did.

“So unless you want to join him, I suggest you all do what you do best, and fucking help me find her. ‘Cause if anything happens to Ini, I’m taking everyone down with me. Northern Lights, Charlotte’s Web.

” I looked at Felix. “Even you, hermano.”
