5. Haze #3
I looked back toward the stage, now dark as the light shifted back to red. “If Kief and Toro are both moving, that can only mean one thing.” I looked back at him.
“They’re going to meet.”
“I’ll get Indi. You head back to Felix’s.” Spider nodded, and I hurried towards the dressing room, removing the fake glasses from my face.
INDI
“Fuck.” I exhaled, sprawling across the chair in the small dressing room.
Every inch of my body ached and hurt from performing.
I kicked my heels off and threw the bunny mask onto the vanity.
“Ugh, fuck these!” I ripped the brown-colored contacts out of my eyes and stretched.
I rested my head against the back of the chair and let out a soft moan. “I’m so tired.”
Just then, a warm hand glided along the underside of my chin as my head dipped back to see Haze standing over me. “Wha—” He forced my mouth open and leaned in real close, as if to kiss me, but the second he opened his mouth, water poured from his into mine.
What the—
I nearly choked on the water, feeling it drip down the corners of my mouth.
I swallowed, gasping for air as his lips pressed into mine and he kissed me.
“You always were bad at staying hydrated,” he whispered between kisses.
“You owe me so much for tonight,” he groaned.
“I didn’t like how everyone was looking at you.
Don’t you know you’re mine?” he growled.
Haze’s hands glided along my body, and I struggled to breathe. “I thought I already settled this.” He played with my nipple as I tried to bite back how good it felt.
His mouth pushed against my ear. “Oh no, that was nothing,” he whispered to me. “I want more.”
I pushed my brother back and tried to control my breathing. He stared down at me, his dark hair hanging around his face. He looked starved.
This man will be the death of me.
“Haze.” He smiled, stroking my cheek. I played with the pendant around my neck. “Can we at least wait until we’re back at Felix’s?”
Haze leaned down, gripping the sides of my face. He tilted my head back and kissed me softly. “Do I have to?” I nodded sheepishly, feeling my cheeks burn. He let out a soft laugh before kissing my forehead. “Alright. Hurry up and get your things. We’re going to meet Spider at Felix’s.”
I groaned. “Can we just skip work for the next week? I’m so fucking exhausted, and all I want to do is crawl into bed.”
Haze laughed again, this time louder. “Come on, little sis.” He reached his arm out to me.
I sat up and turned to look at him, smiling. “I’ll meet you out back. I need to change and wait for them to gather my cash.”
His brow raised. “You’re taking the cash?”
“Damn straight.” I stood and slowly approached him, enjoying how good he looked in a suit. I wrapped my arms around his waist, staring up at him. “I fucking earned it.”
Haze grinned and yanked me close. “Yes, you fucking did.” He kissed me again, and I nearly crumbled into him. “Ugh…I don’t want to leave.” I shot him a look. “Fine. But hurry up, and don’t keep me waiting too long.”
I smiled and bit my lower lip. “Yes, sir.”
HAZE
“Where is she?” I checked my phone and searched her location. It showed she was still inside The Cosmic Oxen, but something felt off.
This isn’t right.
Call it a twin sense, but something was telling me to check on her.
I shot from the exterior wall of the strip club and swung the back door open, stepping inside. And with each step, a growing fear began to grow in the pit of my stomach.
Indi.
I quickly made my way to the hallway of the small dressing room, but as I neared the door, I knew instantly something was off.
“What in the—” I stopped, noticing odd marks along the floor.
I stepped over them, walking towards the dressing room.
“Indi.” I sprinted toward the door, but as I reached for it, I realized not only was it cracked, but the doorknob was damaged, as if someone had forcefully opened it.
No.
Absolute fear and dread flooded my veins as I shot inside the small dressing room.
“Indi!” My heart raced uncontrollably as I scanned the room, noticing the mess.
“Indi!” I shouted a second time. The room was completely torn apart, and there was no sign of her.
“Indi!” I shouted again, kicking an overturned chair aside.
My anger quickly grew, burning within my body as I tore the room apart, looking for any sign of my twin. But she was nowhere to be found.
“Fuck!” I slammed my fist into the vanity mirror, shattering it. I gripped the edge of the vanity, panting as I tried to focus, raging with absolute anger. “Where are you?” I hissed. Just then, something caught my eye.
No.
I reached down and picked up the Taurus pendant I had given her, the one with a tracker inside. Only it was covered in blood. And in that very moment, all sanity and reason officially left my body.
Indi.
My face burned as sweat dripped down my face. I slowly raised my eyes to look into a broken piece of glass in the mirror, staring back at my darkened reflection, completely enraged.
There was only ever one rule…one rule that kept me in line my whole life.
I took the brown-colored contacts from my eyes and glared back at my green irises. I calmly stood, gripping Indi’s necklace in my hand, and turned towards the door.
But you broke it. You fucking broke it!
I briskly made my way to the back of the club, kicking the door open as I stepped outside into the cold night.
It had begun to rain, and I stared up into the stormy night sky, letting the cold drops roll down my body.
“Say your prayers, Kief.” I dropped my head and stared ahead into the darkness, feeling the monster I had kept buried inside for so long finally step into my shoes. “Because I’m fucking coming for you.”
And this time, I won’t let you walk away. You’re mine, Kief.
I kicked the front door of Felix’s home open, nearly sprinting inside, soaking wet. Felix and Spider were standing around the end of the dining room table, discussing something on my brother’s laptop. They both spun around, shocked at the sight of me. “Where is she?” I shouted, aiming for them.
Felix’s brows scrunched as he watched me. “Where is who?”
I quickly pulled the KA-BAR from its sheath and aimed, throwing it straight towards them both.
The two of them dodged it, gasping as my knife landed dead center of Felix’s laptop, cracking the screen.
“Where is she!” I shouted as I charged at Spider, gripping him by his throat before slamming my fists into his face.
He fell to the floor, and I quickly stood over him, reeling my arm back again.
