30. Sina #2

His eyes jumped up to mine in surprise. Bright blue and completely breathtaking.

My hands were still cupping his face. I sucked in a quiet breath.

I shouldn’t be touching him like this. Shit .

It might trigger him and that was the absolute last thing I wanted.

I might have wanted Nik to lose that careful calm, but it was different with Harlow.

I’d seen just how at war with himself he was with touching me and kissing me downstairs.

I started to pull my hand away from his cheek, but his rose-covered hand slid over mine, stopping me.

“Don’t,” he murmured, turning his face into my palm, nuzzling into the touch, those gorgeous blue eyes meeting mine again. They were glowing, much like Nik’s gold ones did, and a nervous little smile tugged at my lips.

I let my thumb graze his lip piercing as I spoke.

“There would have to be ground rules.”

I licked my lips, wanting to taste his kiss again. But I needed Harlow to listen to me so I held myself back, just barely.

“Let’s be honest, you’re a bit unhinged, Harlow, and you can take things too far. ”

His gaze dropped back to the carpet, jaw tightening like he was bracing for rejection.

“Hey,” I murmured, tightening my grip on his smooth chin so he had to look at me again. “I happen to like that about you.”

His breath caught. Just barely. But I felt it against my palm. Something shifted in his expression then, the wildness softening into something almost uncertain. Like he didn’t quite believe he was allowed to want this, and was waiting for me to pull away.

I didn’t. I couldn’t deny I wanted him—both of them.

I leaned in first. The second our mouths touched, he froze, like he couldn’t believe I had closed the distance on my own.

Then he broke, kissing me back, crawling over me as I fell onto the mattress, never breaking our kiss.

His hands roamed, strong and sure, and I moaned into his mouth as heat rolled through me.

As he dragged us both up the mattress, we broke apart, both panting.

My head bounced lightly against the pillow.

Nik was at the headboard, looming above us, tall and still. I turned to look at him, and the dark, twisted look in his eyes sent another coil of heat low in my belly.

Harlow stayed between my legs, one hand braced on the mattress, the other warm on my outer thigh.

Nik’s gaze dragged over us once, slow and assessing. “If you’re going to let us play,” he said quietly, voice calm but serious, “we need a way for you to tell us how you’re doing.”

I rolled my eyes. “I told you to stop acting like I’m made of glass, Nik. I want this. ”

He moved.

One second he was at the headboard, the next he was right there, vampire fast, his hand firm around my throat. My breath hitched, surprise and heat tangled together .

“If you want this to happen, we are going to do it my way ,” he said, voice low and steady. “I will not have you getting hurt because we handled this poorly.”

I swallowed thickly, but said nothing.

“Do you know the stoplight system?”

I shook my head slightly, pulse racing under his hand.

“Green means you’re good. You want more. Yellow means slow down. Red means stop. No questions. No hesitation. Use it Sina. I’m serious. We might be compelling you, but you are in control. You got me?” His hand tightened, reminding me just how much power they had over me.

My eyes widened. That softened something in my chest.

“…Okay,” I breathed.

He loosened his hold on my throat. “And in my bedroom, when we’re like this, you address me as sir.”

I huffed a shaky breath. “Bossy.”

“Alpha,” Harlow corrected with a chuckle. I wanted to ask what he meant by that, but I was too captivated by Nik’s control.

“Even if you never say it anywhere else, in here, you will submit to me, little mate. And you'll love being my good girl. Remember what I said would happen to my brats?”

Heat flared low in my belly.

He smirked, like he knew just how much I liked that.

“Yes sir.”

Nik shivered, a delicious smile morphing his sharp features, before he let me go and stood again.

Harlow leaned closer between my thighs, pulling a gasp from my lips. “ On your knees. Hands on the headboard. ” His breath was hot against my ear .

I obeyed him immediately. I climbed onto my knees, palms braced against the wooden headboard, heart pounding.

Holy shit. Holy shit. I repeated like a mantra over and over again. My breath hitched, my pulse fluttering wildly in my throat. This was way more intense than when Nik compelled me to put down the knife.

Nik stepped in close behind me, his hand sliding into my hair, smoothing it back from my face.

“Which light, little mate?”

My mind felt hazy but aware. I checked in with myself, with the heat, the nerves, the anticipation curling through me.

“Green.” I was breathless.

His fingers tightened slightly in my hair.

“Green… sir .”

When I opened my eyes again, Nik gave a single nod. His palm cupped my cheek, warm and steady, thumb brushing my skin in slow approval. “Good girl.”

Harlow chuckled, something dark and feral in the sound, reminding me of the night I first met him in the warehouse.

A shiver ran through me. Aw, fuck.

What the hell did I just agree to?
