Chapter 6 #2

She shook her head slightly. “I’ll shut the window if ye’ll stop whinin’ like a child about that bow and arrows.

” She turned to close the shutter, giving him the outstanding full view of her back end.

High and tight, her cheeks called for him to take them in two hands and pump his engorged form into her until he made her cry out with passion.

“Where do ye want me?” she asked, walking with purpose over to the bed.

“Right here,” he said, moving the blankets aside. Her eyes fell to his hardened groin and, still, she showed no reaction or emotion of any kind. That made him feel insecure. He had no idea how many men she’d coupled with and how they’d compared to him. Perhaps, he didn’t measure up to the rest.

She slid onto the bed, lying flat on her back with her legs spread, and closing her eyes. “Go ahead,” she told him.

Suddenly, the mood was gone. He didn’t want to make love to a woman who made it sound like coupling was naught more than a daily duty.

He wanted her to feel passion when she coupled with him.

He wanted to hear her cry out his name with desire when he ran his fingers down her body and pushed his hardened form between her legs, bringing her to her peak.

But this woman was cold and calloused. She probably didn’t know what it was to cry or laugh or be titillated by a lover.

Nay, this isn’t how he wanted it at all.

“Mayhap, we should talk for a while first,” he said, covering her naked body with the blanket, being careful not to touch her.

“Oh, ye like to talk while ye couple? I’ve never heard anythin’ like that before.”

“Ye havena?” He stalled, trying to decide what to do.

He was so hot and bothered that he could take her easily, having every right to do so since she was now his wife.

Instead, he found himself longing to please her.

He wanted her to feel as sated when they were done as he knew he would feel after not having a woman for so long.

Perhaps, he just needed to try a little harder.

Then, mayhap, he would be able to get her to show emotion of some kind. “So, tell me, Magna.”

Her eyes popped open and she glared at him.

Although with those emerald green eyes, he didn’t mind.

He liked her with her eyes open much better.

It showed her inner beauty – or so he thought.

He wasn’t quite sure what to think. “Have ye made love to a man before?” He reached out and cupped her face with his palm.

Her cheek was cold, but her skin was very soft. Her eyelids flickered.

“Shouldna ye have asked that question before ye married me?”

“Aye. I suppose so.” He lived dangerously, not sure if she’d bite as he daringly trailed the tip of his finger across her mouth.

He felt the heat of her breath on his hand and a slight dampness as she parted her lips.

He saw straight, strong teeth that could probably take off his finger in a single snap if she so wanted.

He hoped he was fast enough to pull away if that happened.

Spring longed for her amulet right now, but it was in the pocket of her clothes on the chair.

She tried her hardest to stay strong but found herself liking his touch a little too much.

She wanted to make love to him, but it seemed like all he wanted to do was talk.

What did she have to do to shut him up? She didn’t want to talk about her past experiences with men, but he was asking.

She figured the sooner she got it over with the better.

“Aye. I have been with a few men in my one and twenty years.”

“Ye have?” That seemed to surprise him for some reason.

“It’s only natural,” she said. “I’m sure ye understand, as ye’ve probably been with many women since yer wife passed away.”

“Nay. I havena been with a one.”

Now it was her turn to be surprised. “No’ a one?” she asked. “How long has it been?”

“That doesna matter.” His finger stopped tracing her lips and she thought he wouldn’t want her now. After all, he sounded very pious. What man would refrain from coupling for years in memory of his dead wife? He was not the average man – and she was not the average girl.

She felt a sense of relief when he cupped her cheek again and continued to caress her.

“What ye did in yer past holds no purpose now,” he told her. “I only ask so that I ken how gentle to be with ye.”

The warmth of his hand relaxed her and she leaned into his touch. Like the sun’s rays of a summer day, she basked in the glory of the heat passing between them. With her eyes still closed, she answered.

“There is no need to be gentle,” she murmured. “I am a warrior and am used to anythin’, no matter how rough.”

“Were ye always that way?” he asked.

She wasn’t, but neither did she want him to know. She figured if she could stay strong and show no emotion, he would never think he could control her. She was still the enemy even with the marriage, even if he didn’t know it. She had to always remain on top of her game.

“I would prefer no’ to talk durin’ our consummation.”

“Of course. There is no need for words.”

His fingers trailed down her chest and his hand cupped her breast next. If her eyes had been open, she would have seen it coming. Instead, she stifled a moan of desire that lodged at the back of her throat.

Then he leaned over and his mouth came down upon hers in a sensuous kiss.

She had planned to just lay there like a board until it was over, but something inside her came to life each time Shaw’s lips caressed hers or his fingers fondled her.

He was gentle and caring, so unlike the few men she’d experienced coupling with in her lifetime.

He treated her as if she were special, as if he cared.

No one except her mother had ever really cared for her. It felt good – and right.

“Do ye like that, lass?” His mouth left hers momentarily and his fingertips grazed over her nipple again, making it even stiffer.

A shiver of want coursed through her. Her eyes flickered open.

He looked so handsome in the light of the fire that it made her want to moan in desire.

But she held it back. He didn’t need to know.

“It doesna matter. Now just continue.”

Almost as if he were torturing her, instead of going faster to finish the deed, he purposely took his time.

“Yer skin is so soft.” He continued to fondle her breast as he placed a trail of kisses down her neck and chest. It made her excited and she anticipated his next move.

“I’ll bet ye’ll like this,” he said, lowering his head to her other breast. He gently pulled her nipple between his lips and released it with a popping sound.

It almost drove her out of her mind. “Or this.” Her eyes closed again as his tongue made a trail down her stomach and swirled in sensuous circles at her navel.

Then he pushed back the covers and straddled his leg over her.

The burning fire of his hot thighs against her skin matched the fire in her inner core right now.

She wanted to see him playing the seducer. Curiosity overtook her and she just had to look. She opened her eyes to see his arms on both sides of her and his hardened manhood of desire dangling between his legs.

“Go ahead and touch me,” he told her, leaning over to whisper in her ear.

“I told ye, I dinna like so much clishmaclaver. Now please, be quiet.”

“It is no’ clishmaclaver. It’s part of makin’ love.

” His hand slowly slid up between her thighs.

Then his fingers found her womanly folds.

She could no longer stay quiet. She gasped and, of its own accord, her back arched up off the bed.

She tried to muffle the sound, but a moan of passion lodged at the back of her throat.
