KRUZ
After Onyx and his sister left the shop, we locked up and headed out.
I gave my dad a ride to work today because I needed to get some of my things that I left at his house.
He thought it would be best if I stayed with him at his house during my recovery.
I didn’t object, he is my only parent left so if he wants to love on me, I’m going to let him.
He still lived in my childhood home that I grew up in at Indiewood Village.
They are really nice houses, big enough for a family but smaller than a mansion.
He purchased a house for us in the Silver Stones Estates community, but we never got a chance to move there.
When mom passed, he didn’t want to move to the new house without her but didn’t want to sell it either because she designed that house.
He said my mom’s memories are in this house so that is where he wants to be.
He decided to keep it for me when I became of age.
This is how he fell into debt; trying to maintain two houses and a business.
He didn’t know that I found out about how far he was in debt and he never said anything to me.
I knew I had to do something to help so I started racing my bike for money but wasn’t making enough to really pay the debt.
One day while I was fixing her bike Harli approached me about joining their Fire and Roses Gang.
They put together plans to do heists to make some money.
I jumped at the chance to help my dad. I didn’t know anything about doing heists at all, but I knew how to hack, ride a motorcycle, and had the hunger to get money.
They accepted me into their two-woman gang and taught me everything I know about doing heists.
Riding with them gave me the street credit on the racing scene and I was also able to race for a higher take.
Unfortunately, it was during one of the heists that I got shot.
It was bad. I thought I was going to die.
I scared the shit out of my dad because I was in a coma for a while.
But GOD healed me. I remember hearing my dad praying over me the whole time I was out.
That is why I really needed to help him keep what he worked so hard for.
I have since paid off the mortgage on his house and the business.
He doesn’t know though because I hacked the account and created new accounts and statements to show a balance.
I also convinced him to let me take over the financials for everything to make it easier for me to do what I needed to do.
He still gets financial reports that I create.
Make sure he isn’t asking questions. I also took over the mortgage for the other house since I now live there.
I actually paid that off with the money from the poker heist. I couldn’t do it right away since I was recovering and didn't want him to catch on to my outside job.
But I made sure to do it as soon as I was able.
I really did miss my mom. She died when I was five and although I didn’t have a lot of time with her, she left a wonderful imprint on me. I remember her always being happy, smiling, laughing and being a good mom. She would make our birthdays feel like a national holiday.
“Dad, how well do you know Onyx and his family?” I asked.
“I knew his grandfather because he was friends with your grandfather. I knew his mom. We grew up together, went to the same schools. She and your mom were friends. When we graduated, life got busy and they both became mothers, so they didn’t get to hang out as much.”
“I’m glad you stopped me from calling the cops on Emerald. Once I really looked at her and talked to her, I could see that she was dealing with something a jail would not have been able to fix. I’m glad you decided to allow her to work off her damage. She is very talented.”
“Indeed, she is. She just needs a little guidance and she should be okay. Onyx has a lot on his plate so maybe this will help them both get their heads on straight.”
I nodded but didn’t have much of a reply. I had to work on reading the room better and letting some of this anger go. I really could’ve set that little girl up for failure when all she needed was someone to care.
I pulled up to the house and thought about what I needed to grab before I headed right back out. I wasn’t staying in tonight.
When we walked into the house, my father stopped at the wedding photo of him and mom in the hallway and said a quick prayer.
He always did this in his coming and going.
He missed mom a lot and I loved seeing him take the time to stay connected with her.
I really did want him to find love someday because he deserved it.
Nobody should live through life lonely. I truly hoped it happened for him, but from the look of things, it might not happen so I’d be here for him in any way that I could to keep him going.
I went upstairs and grabbed what I needed then shot right back down the stairs.
“Ok pops, I'm heading out. Going to a race with my peoples so I will talk to you later.”
“Kasey, you be careful out there. I almost lost you once and don't want that to happen again,” he said with worry across his face.
I hugged and kissed him on the cheek. “I'm good dad and I promise to be careful.”
My dad knew that I raced bikes, what he didn't know is that I also do heists. When I got shot, he thought I was leaving a race and was a bystander in the wrong place at the wrong time. He didn't know that the bullets were shot at us on purpose and were meant for me and my crew.
Leaving my dad’s house, I headed to my own.
I put on some music, pulled out my blunt and just relaxed as I made my way.
My house had a two-car garage, but of course I kept my bike on the other side.
Pulling up, I hit the button for the garage to open.
I parked the car and headed into the house with my bags.
It felt good to be back home. While I enjoyed staying with my dad and being loved on, it was time for me to get back to my own space.
Walking into my house, I could smell the plug in that I have all around that smelled like clean linen.
It's one of my favorite scents, so crisp and clean.
Emptying my duffel bag, I put my dirty clothes in the hamper and put the clean clothes away.
My phone rang and I knew it was my dad because I forgot to let him know that I made it home safely.
“Hi dad, yes, I'm home. Thanks for checking on me.”
“Okay pumpkin. I'm going to bed. Just wanted to make sure you made it home. I love you.”
“You miss me already, don't you?” I could tell he was smiling through the phone. “I love you too dad good night.”
“Have a good night and be safe.”
“I will.”
We disconnected the call then I sent a text to Harli and Ryda to let them know I was home getting ready and would meet them at the bridge.
I also sent one to Mya to see if she was still coming.
I put on some music and hopped in the shower.
As I washed and got to my pussy, Onyx came in my head.
What the fuck??? Why am I thinking about his rude ass?
I needed to stop frontin’. I knew why. His ass was sexy like a muthafucker.
Clearing my thoughts, I finished washing up and got out, oiled my body, and put on some perfume.
I grabbed my riding outfit and my favorite motor jacket.
I got dressed and smiled in the mirror. It had been a minute, and it felt good to be back on my best shit.
Grabbing my helmet and key, I jumped on my bike to go to this race. Feeling the wind hit my body brought me nostalgia and a huge smile spread across my face as I sped across town. It truly felt good to be back on my baby again.
Pulling up to the bridge where we said we would meet each other, I saw Harli, Ryda, and Mya already there. I rode my bike to them and as I was getting off, my phone rang. It was Shawn’s bitch ass texting me. I ignored it and spoke to my girls.
Harli had already arranged all of our races for tonight. After winning we would all leave $5000 up. Harli did not play about money at all.
“Yo, why these bitch ass niggas want to race for pink slips? Da fuck they think this is, back in the day? Cash only,” Harli said
“Bitch, if you broke then say that shit. I'm never coming off my bike fuck that,” Ryda said, and we all cracked up.
Mya had a bike, but it was just for fun.
She didn't race but she liked bikes and hanging out with us from time to time.
She wasn't involved in the other aspect of this side of my life, but I did keep her on standby just in case shit went left.
It was all kinds of riders out tonight, the East Side Riders, the Magnolia Baddies, the Valley Bruhs, and the Dark Nights just to name a few.
I was up first to race, and I was going against a Magnolia Baddie.
Harli was up first to race. She we did our handshake; she stuck her tongue out then did a half dance as she approached her bike.
She looked at her opponent and smiled our way.
She mouthed, “easy,” then put her helmet on.
She was going up against an East Side Rider.
They couldn’t stand our asses because they have never ever won a race against any of us, yet they could beat others with ease.
That made them keep trying. I guess I could give them that.
They had heart. Harli got on her bike and rode to the starting line.
The put on her helmet then looked at the other racer.
She grabbed her lucky pendent and was ready at go.
She glanced over at us, and he had big smiles on and nodded.
She nodded too then put her attention on the flag girl.
She got into position and waited for the countdown.
Her opponent had a couple girls in her ear, and you could tell she was irritated.
Looked like she was trying to lock in, but they wouldn't let her.
After a moment she waved them off, but it was too late.
The flag had already dropped, and Harli was all gas no breaks.
The sparks flying out the back of her bike got the girl's attention and she took off.
You could hear her cuss and she pushed forward.
By then Harli was halfway down the bridge.
She tried her best to catch up to her, but it was no use.
The way Harli shifted gears, and rounded back, ole girl would only be seeing dust. Harli passed her and as she rolled by, she sat us and gave her a salute then got back in position.
She pressed just a little harder so she'd zoom through the finish line.
Then she circled back and approached us.
She hopped off and we all laughed at her dramatics before she made her way over to collect her winnings... My race was next.
I had to get myself ready for my race, I always take a moment to myself to say a prayer.
Father God, I ask that you cover me at all speeds while I’m racing, you being in control of my bike at every turn I make.
Let me make it to the finish line safely and a winner.
Also, Lord cover the other bikers that are out here tonight.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen. Mom, I know you got me.
I walked back over to get my bike and get hyped up by my friends like we always do when we race. They gathered around me and we all said, “We are beautiful like roses, but we burn shit down like fire.” then did our handshake.
Going to the starting line, I pulled out my cash and handed it to Mya to hold after saying it to the opponent.
She did the same thing. Someone got in the middle of us a few steps ahead with a flag in both hands to signal the start of the race.
I locked into competition mode and tried for the go.
Mounting my bike, I made sure my feet were good on the footpegs.
I put my hand comfortably on the handlebars and started my engine.
“On your mark, get set, goooooooo”
I pulled in the clutch to shift into first gear and took off.
Gradually twisting the throttle so I could increase my speed.
Being as though this race was on the bridge we went to the end of the bridge turned around and came back.
I don't usually look for my opponent, I listen to hear where they are, so I know how to navigate my speed.
I let her have a slight lead going up the bridge to get a feel for how she rides.
She is a speed only rider no strategy, just go.
Once we did the turn and came back down the bridge, she saw me coming and tried to cross me, but I crossed her like Allen Iverson crossed up Michael Jordan in his rookie year. Then I locked in, twisted my throttle and accelerated straight across the finish line as the winner of course.
Once I tuned back into what was going on around me, I heard all the cheers and applause going on around me.
Mya had gone to the other club’s person to collect the $5000 that I won.
Harli and Ryda were getting ready for their own races.
I sat on my bike to let my heart rate slow down and waited for my breathing to return back to normal.
Just as I was putting the kickstand on my bike I felt someone grab my arm very forcefully and spun me around. I turned around with flared nostrils ready to fight and I saw it was Shawn’s bum ass.
“I text your ass and watched you ignore the shit out of me. Kasey, I don't like that shit. Why the fuck didn't you respond back to me?”
“Nigga what the fuck?” I started to say but was startled by a hand on my lower back that moved me from in front of Shawn.
To my surprise it was Onyx. He looked me in my eyes and said, “Kasey baby, are you okay?” The look in his eyes was of concern and fire if I even thought of challenging him for calling me Kasey.
Shut me right the fuck up. All I could do was nod.
Once he saw that I was okay he turned around and snuffed the shit out of Shawn’s bitch ass.
Shawn stumbled back and Onyx just kept throwing blows.
He didn't have a chance to come back before he hit the floor.
Once on the floor, Onyx pulled out a gun I didn't even know he had and put it to Shawn’s head and told him, “If you put your hands on her again you won't have them bitches to put on no other woman.”
He stared him in the eye to make sure he got the point. He then put the gun back in his back, got up, grabbed my hand and walked off.
Even though me and this man had nothing going on, he knew me enough to call me Kasey and not Kruz in front of Shawn to show him that he was someone I held close to my heart.
