Chapter 8 Clearing Up the Misunderstanding

I had no choice but to tell him everything about Jiang Xue.

Worried he might care about her friend, I stressed again,

“I know this is hard for you, but—”

I braced myself and continued, “But we’re husband and wife now. The way you’ve been acting with her could be seen as emotional cheating in a way.”

“Of course I’m not blaming you. Afterward I can even step aside and let you be with her. But can you help me first?”

He Yuheng’s expression flickered between dark and light. I couldn’t read it.

I spoke even softer. “Please.”

Finally he calmed down. “Who is Jiang Xue?”

I thought he was refusing and muttered, “You changed your Profile Picture yesterday because of her, and now you’re asking who she is.”

“I changed my Profile Picture because of you, didn’t I?”

I froze.

I looked at him. He looked back at me.

“Yesterday you suddenly changed your Profile Picture to mine. I thought you were hinting at something, so I changed mine to match yours.”

“…”

“But Jiang Xue clearly said her friend told you about it.”

“During the meeting yesterday, someone did call me and I happened to find out you changed your Profile Picture—”

I started to say that must have been her friend.

But he spoke faster. “But it was a man.”

I was even more stunned.

He Yuheng continued, “A cousin of one of our partners. We’re not that close. Do you want me to call him right now to confirm?”

I nodded, then shook my head.

Everything felt so messed up.

At some point He Yuheng had crouched down in front of me.

He didn’t touch me, but his eyes stayed locked on mine.

“I’m not ambiguous with any woman. Do you believe me?”

More than believing him, what shocked me most right now was that he had changed his Profile Picture because of me.

Because of me.

Honestly, that was harder to believe than if it had been because of Jiang Xue or her friend.

Why?

He Yuheng suddenly took my hand.

I looked at him in shock. The elevator doors slid open on both sides.

He gave me a gentle smile, voice steady and low.

“We’re here. Let’s go.”
