Chapter 10 My Husband’s Declaration
He Yuheng held my hand and walked into the large office where my department was located.
The entire place fell deathly silent.
This was exactly the scene I had once hoped for the most.
Yet now that it was really happening to me, I suddenly felt a wave of timidity.
Manager Yu, the department head, had already stood up to greet us.
He Yuheng didn’t even glance at him. He only said, “I’ll say a few words and then leave.”
He changed from holding my hand to wrapping his arm around my shoulder, turning me so we both faced everyone.
“Sang Wan is my wife.”
He Yuheng’s voice wasn’t loud, but it carried enough force to reach every corner of the office.
“The reason we didn’t make it public was because I thought private matters didn’t need to be brought into the open. My personal marital status seemed irrelevant. But I never expected it would end up hurting her.”
“She is my wife. He Yuheng will only ever have this one wife.”
He Yuheng glanced at me. The arm around my shoulder tightened slightly as he spoke solemnly, “I like her very much. I respect her very much. And I love her very much. I hope everyone will stop misunderstanding her from now on.”
Right after he finished, the Human Resources manager walked in with several people.
He Yuheng gave a small smile. “Next, some personal matters to handle.”
He didn’t choose to settle it privately. Instead, right in front of everyone, he asked directly, “Which one is Jiang Xue?”
No one answered. No one stood up.
But every pair of eyes instantly turned toward where Jiang Xue was sitting.
He Yuheng understood immediately.
“Yesterday when I changed my Profile Picture, it was just a little fun between me and my wife. I thought she wanted to go public in the company, so I acted on it right away… but what does any of this have to do with your friend?”
Jiang Xue stood up slowly.
Her face was deathly pale. She didn’t say a single word.
He Yuheng looked almost puzzled.
“Your friend? Li Qifeng? Isn’t he a man? Isn’t he your boyfriend? When have I ever had any ambiguous relationship with him?”
The string of questions made Jiang Xue collapse emotionally.
“I’m sorry, President He. I’m sorry, I’m sorry—it’s all my fault, I—”
He Yuheng cut her off. “You don’t owe me an apology.”
Jiang Xue’s gaze shifted to me.
For some reason, the apology she could so easily say to He Yuheng refused to come out when facing me.
He Yuheng deliberately waited a few seconds.
Seeing that she still stubbornly refused to apologize, he said in a low voice, “Human Resources, start processing her resignation. As for the defamation and rumor-spreading, have Legal Affairs prepare the documents later.”
He Yuheng finally looked over at her. “It’s fine if you won’t apologize to my wife. You can explain it in court.”
Jiang Xue’s fingertips dug hard into the edge of the desk.
The other colleagues looked at her with either disdain or disgust.
A moment later, Jiang Xue suddenly screamed hysterically, “You can’t do this! I’m Li Qifeng’s girlfriend—you can’t fire me! Even for his sake, you can’t—”
He Yuheng interrupted her. “What face does Li Qifeng have?”
He usually didn’t speak so mercilessly. Today, though, he held nothing back.
“Forget Li Qifeng—even if his partner’s cousin came begging me in person, the result would be the same.”
Jiang Xue muttered, “But you clearly have a good relationship. This morning you even had Breakfast delivered to our department on his behalf…”
He Yuheng let out an incredulous laugh.
“The Breakfast I sent was for my wife. What does that have to do with Li Qifeng?”
Only then did Jiang Xue realize she had been completely fooled.
She collapsed straight to the floor in fright.
He Yuheng no longer looked at her. He raised his voice to the rest of the room. “If anyone here feels dissatisfied, has complaints, or disagrees with how I’m handling this—”
He pointed at Human Resources. “You can leave with Jiang Xue. We can process it right now. You’ll be gone immediately.”
The colleagues who had been watching the drama instantly went quiet as mice.
Jiang Xue, still slumped on the floor, suddenly looked at me and gave two mocking laughs.
“I always wondered how Sang Wan managed to get hired even after getting pregnant. Turns out she was already involved with President He!”
I froze for a few seconds.
My mind instantly connected it to that anonymous letter. I stared at her in disbelief.
So it was her who switched it!
After the anonymous letter incident, I had tried to figure out who was behind it.
But none of the other girls who joined at the same time ever showed signs of pregnancy. I couldn’t solve the mystery and eventually stopped thinking about it.
It was Jiang Xue all along.
He Yuheng clearly remembered the incident too.
But he reacted faster—realizing the potential damage her words could cause me—and calmly explained,
“First, whether someone is pregnant or not, as long as they received an offer, they can join Ruiheng smoothly. That has nothing to do with whether Sang Wan is my wife.”
“Second, at work, I have never given Sang Wan any special treatment. Everything she has achieved is through her own effort. It has nothing to do with me. I cannot take credit for it.”
“Finally, please have Human Resources call the police. She falsified her pre-employment medical report—suspected fraud. She can be taken in directly.”
Jiang Xue screamed in rage!
He Yuheng covered my ears and guided me out with his arm around my shoulder.
As we passed the busy Human Resources manager, he casually added, “Process Manager Yu’s resignation as well. Letting his subordinates get out of control during work hours means he’s sat in that position long enough.”
Behind us was chaotic noise.
Held protectively in He Yuheng’s arms, I suddenly felt a sense of security I had never experienced before.
