Chapter 3
"It's true!"
She shoved her phone screen in my face.
There it was—He Yuheng's freshly changed avatar was now my photo.
And he had even posted on Moments!
Just a repost of the company's official public account article.
But the combination of "He Yuheng" and my face was beyond bizarre.
I nearly fainted.
A thousand words choked in my throat. After holding it in for ages, I finally squeezed out,
"How could this..."
Wasn't He Yuheng in a meeting?
How did he know I changed my profile picture?
And even if he knew—why would he change his own to mine?
I had no idea how to explain this.
Me changing to his photo could still be excused as part of the bet.
But him changing to mine...
Wouldn't everyone misunderstand?
Even though our relationship was real, I really didn't want people to get the wrong idea like this!
My mind was in chaos.
I instinctively wanted to message him, but Jiang Xue strolled over with perfect timing.
"Sorry, Sang Wan. I have a friend who knows President He. I just shared this with him for fun, and somehow President He found out."
I looked up at her.
Her mouth said sorry, but it didn't sound sincere to me at all.
"You did this on purpose?"
Jiang Xue looked perfectly innocent. "Don't wrong me. How would I know something like this would happen?"
I stared at her silently.
"It was really just for laughs."
Jiang Xue raised both hands in surrender. "And I never imagined... I only casually joked to my friend that maybe President He could change his to yours too, and then he actually did it..."
She dipped her head slightly, watching my reaction. "You won't mind, right?"
Only then did I understand.
Why He Yuheng knew.
Why He Yuheng changed his profile picture to mine.
I was actually a little angry, but Jiang Xue was still waiting to see me humiliated. I forced a small smile.
"I don't mind."
"Good then."
She looked so considerate. "If you need to explain anything to President He, feel free to contact me."
My emotions boiled over and I forgot to hide it.
"You're close with He Yuheng?"
Jiang Xue paused, clearly surprised I called him by his full name.
After a moment she said, "Well, it is partly my fault. With you two having matching profile pictures, people who don't know better might think something's going on."
She looked ready for a good show.
I ignored her completely.
And completely gave up on contacting He Yuheng.
Damn He Yuheng!
Teaming up with an outsider to bully me!
I was still his legal wife, how could he do this!
The angrier I got, the more furious I became.
Meanwhile the man himself acted completely oblivious and messaged me like usual: [Going home together today?]
I hammered the keyboard: [Not going back!]
He Yuheng didn't understand: [Not going back with me, or not going back at all?]
I was even angrier: [None of your business!]
He Yuheng wisely stopped messaging.
I stared dead at our chat interface.
His avatar was me. My avatar was him... Anyone who didn't know would think we were publicly announcing our relationship.
How ironic.
I screenshotted it and sent it to my best friend.
Before I could even complain, she bombarded me with exclamation marks.
Lin Shuangyu: [You two went public?!!!!!!]
“......”
I deleted my half-typed rant and corrected her: [This is clearly evidence of He Yuheng's crime!]
Lin Shuangyu: [This is clearly a public announcement!!]
I told her the entire story, emphasizing especially how He Yuheng sided with Jiang Xue instead of me!
My best friend instantly exploded: [Scumbag! Divorce him!]
I finally felt a little better.
