Chapter 31
New Boo New Life
Today was my first day working at the city hospital, and I was overjoyed. After going back to school to earn my bachelor's degree in science—and enduring six long months of hard work before graduating just last week—I finally landed a new position in healthcare administration at Wellstar.
My new office is small, but I love it because I earned every inch of it.
I felt great in my cartoon scrubs; even though I'm not a nurse, the hospital requires all staff to wear them.
My daily role involves setting up payment plans for patients who need health insurance and billing those who cannot afford to pay upfront.
Best of all, I love finally having a legitimate career instead of shaking my assets for a few dollars.
"Hey, is it Mercedes?" my boss asked, stepping into my office.
"Yes, ma'am," I replied professionally.
"It’s lunchtime. You have a one-hour break."
I pulled out my phone and placed an online order at Hungry AF around the corner. When I arrived, my food was already waiting. I took a moment to admire the salmon pasta and jerk wings I had ordered.
Suddenly, I heard a familiar voice. "Let me get your 'Hungry Than a Motherfucker' plate—my girl wants shrimp in the pasta, and y'all's Trey Young wings."
I stood up and walked over. "Hey, Clo."
"Damn, sister, you look good!" he said. "I know you ain’t stripping anymore because strippers don't wear scrubs. And since I run the hottest strip club in the city, I'd know."
I laughed. "I heard that. I'm proud of you, too. I got my bachelor's degree in science and now do health administration for Wellstar."
"I'm proud of you, sis! Why didn't you tell me? I would have attended your graduation."
"I cut off everything attached to Silk."
"So what are you going to do when I marry Tammy? You can't stay away; you're forever my sister."
I started crying, and he pulled me into a tight hug.
"I love you, Mercedes. We are family," he said while rubbing my back.
"I love you too, brother."
I sat back down to finish my food while he waited for his order. I made it back to work ten minutes before my break ended. A patient was already waiting in the lobby.
"I’ll take you," I said.
We walked back to my office, shut the door, and she took a seat as I logged onto the computer.
"Do you have health insurance?" I asked.
"No, ma'am."
"Can you make a twenty-five-dollar payment today to start your plan?"
"No."
"What’s your name?"
"Tiffany David."
"Date of birth?"
"04/14/1998."
"Last four digits of your Social Security number?"
"8246."
"Okay, sign here and we're all done."
It went smoothly like that all day long.
After a long day, I finally made my way home. I live alone now; Donny and Junie bought a big house on the north side, and Tammy and Clover moved to a peaceful lake house an hour away—though I told her she was crazy for moving so far.
My phone started ringing. I answered it immediately.
"Hello, Rizz."
"Hey, beautiful. How was work?"
"It was great, actually. What are you doing?"
"Closing shop. Trying to see if my lady is hungry before I head home and go to bed."
"Bae, you know I’m always hungry."
"All right, I’m about to grab something and then I'll be on my way."
I ended the call and sat in the living room, pouring myself a glass of wine.
An hour later, I heard a car horn and saw the G-Wagon pull into the driveway, letting me know my boo, Rizz, had arrived.
Rizz is six-foot-three, slim, light-skinned with a curly fro, always impeccably dressed, and constantly smelling of vanilla and sandalwood.
He walked through the door wearing a Louis Vuitton outfit.
The man looked and smelled incredible every single time I saw him.
I met Rizz five months ago at community college while he was studying for his bachelor’s degree in business. He actually graduated before me. At just twenty-one, Rizz carries himself with maturity well beyond his years.
Hearing a knock at the door, I got up to answer it. He set the food on the counter, walked over, wrapped his arms around me, and gave my backside a squeeze.
"You look good, baby. I love seeing a woman in uniform," he said.
"I’m starving. What did you get us?" I asked, stepping back toward the counter.
"Just a burger and fries. I kept it simple because I knew you'd have some gourmet leftovers from lunch."
I laughed because he was right—I still had salmon Alfredo and ten wings waiting.
We sat at the table and ate dinner together, after which he ran a warm bath for me.
I slipped into the tub, breathing in the soothing scent of oat milk and honey.
The water was so relaxing I almost fell asleep right there.
Once finished, I dried off, applied body oil, brushed my teeth, and crawled into bed feeling completely refreshed.
While Rizz was in the shower, I drifted off. Later, I felt him climb into bed, and we fell asleep cuddling, completely naked.
I woke up to Rizz softly kissing and licking between my thighs. He paused, looked me in the eyes, and placed a gentle kiss on each leg before moving up.
"Good morning, beautiful," he whispered.
I blushed so hard my jaw started to ache. He slid back down, pulling my legs up over his shoulders, and began to lavish attention on me as my body responded to his touch. His tongue moved in a deep, rhythmic motion that completely took my breath away.
He paused, sliding his thick length against my damp core. Slowly, he pushed inside me, and I nearly lost my mind.
"Oh, my god," I gasped, pressing my hands against his stomach.
"Take this dick, baby. Stop fighting me," he murmured in a husky, deep voice.
The morning sun beamed through the window, but all I could see was his handsome face and deep dimples. He paused for a moment.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
He leaned back and playfully smacked my hip. "Come sit on it, baby," he said, licking his lips.
I straddled him, riding him in reverse cowgirl with my hands braced on my knees while he gripped my hips.
"Damn, baby, how did I get so lucky?" he groaned.
I bounced on him, feeling him stretch me as I edged closer to my climax.
"Fuck," Rizz moaned, and together, we reached our peak.
