Chapter 12
CHAPTER TWELVE
What hurricane just had its way with me? I try futilely to get the tangles out of my hair.
“We proper fucked your hair.”
I narrow my eyes at him, “You think? And we didn’t even have sex.”
“Don’t you have one of those pony things?”
“You mean a rubber band?”
“Yeah.”
“In my bag up front.”
He leans over me, brushing his jaw against my cheek. “I rather like you looking like that, even if it might be the end of my new job.”
That has me pivoting to look at him. “Did you say this is a new job? Did you just start with Agile also?”
“Three weeks ago. Right before we met in Los Angeles.”
“Ugh… will we get you fired?”
He grumbles, “Maybe. I’m not sure. But the Agile team has had their share of relationship antics before this.”
“Well, I definitely cannot go back up there with a rat’s nest in my hair.”
“When I’m finished up front, I’ll get your bag for you. Wife.”
He steps out, closing the little retractable door behind him, but I’m frozen. Oh. God.
Wife.
But it’s just sex. Nothing more. I mean, we are perfect strangers.
Which is bad enough. I’ve never ever, ever considered having sex with a stranger. I’m not sure what came over me. It has to be altitude sickness or something.
My heart flips and flops inside of my chest. Wolf Black.
He’s like a drug. That smile knocks me for a loop every damn time I see it.
Wrangling my hair into a bun doesn't take long, but I linger in the bathroom for a few extra minutes just to get myself in control. I splash my face. Dry it with a paper towel, but a sudden jolt makes me scramble for the door.
My stomach lurches up on the next bump. Oh!
The plane dips, and I spill out of the bedroom. “What’s happening?”
Nan’s laugh is raucous as her head bobbles back and forth. “This is so fun! We need to do this more often!”
