Chapter 4 #3

They wanted to feel like they had full control of the situation, so they talked shit the whole way there, running their mouths about how easy this whole thing had gone, how soft we were for folding this quick under pressure and how they’d just came up on a lick that’ll set them straight for life.

They even talked about how Demon could never give them a payday like this, and although they fucked with him, this shit was business and not personal.

Namier started getting heated in the back, telling them to bump that shit down a notch, but I shot him a hard look and told him without words to chill, that I had this whole thing handled. Or at least I prayed that I did.

We pulled up to the compound gates, and the leader let me call Sam back one more time, still on speaker for everybody to hear.

"Sam, we at the gate," I said. "Let us in, make sure everything's in order before we pull up."

"Come to the second entrance near the main house," Sam said, calm as ever. "It's loaded and ready to go. Gonna need some help carrying it out."

"Bet. My partners gonna grab the bags and take them with them."

Sam said okay, and the call ended clean.

We pulled up near the house, and there they were, Sam and Mars, standing out front like everything was regular, six big duffle bags lined up neat on the ground waiting on us.

The leader turned to me one last time before his men got out that truck.

"Like we said on the ride, this business, ain't nothing personal," he said.

"Y'all hold up your end today, we hold up ours.

We grab this bread and we out your hair for good, gone before you know it.

We'll try to get your moms back to y'all safe if we can manage it, but ain't no guarantee on that part like I've said, and I'm just keeping it real with you right now instead of feeding you a lie. "

I nodded once, didn't say nothing back to that.

Everybody climbed out the truck. Soon as his men walked up toward them duffle bags. Sam, Mars, and two more of our own people came up from behind the trucks with switches already drawn. "Down NOW!" I barked quickly to my brothers.

Me and my brothers hit that ground hard the second the first shot cracked off. We knew what time it was. These niggas just ain't know.

Gunfire lit up that whole stretch of driveway for maybe sixty seconds, loud enough I felt it in my chest, and then it was over just as fast as it started.

When the smoke finally cleared, all three of them were laid out flat in their own blood, not one of them moving.

I pushed myself up off the ground, walked over slow, and took Sam's gun straight out his hand without asking. I put a few extra rounds in each one of them myself, one at a time, making sure the shit was final.

Zaire stood up slow behind me, looking around at the bodies scattered across that driveway, at the smoke still curling up thick into the air.

"What the fuck," he said, still catching his breath, his voice tight.

"I got code words in place for shit exactly like this," I told him, while my own damn chest was still heaving.

"Sam already knew exactly what time it was the second I called him the first time.

That's why he hit Mars up so that they'd already be in position. You knew damn well I'd never invite niggas to the crib to pick up no fifteen millie! Ion give a fuck who it is or what the situation is. Shit ain't never what it look like out here, Zaire. Trust nothing. Not even a deal that sounds too good to walk away from. Have plans in place for the unthinkable, cause you see that anything can happen. And when it comes to y’all, I’m going to make sure that you walk out of any situation alive and I don’t give a fuck what I gotta do to assure that. "

Namier let out a shaky laugh behind us, still clearly shaken up, down to his bones. In the midst of all this smoke, his ass was cracking some joke under his breath that neither me nor Zaire had the energy left in us to even entertain.

But none of that mattered right now.

My mother was still out there somewhere, in Demon's hands. He had plans for her that I couldn't see the end of, and we didn't have a single clue in this world where he'd taken her.

"Aye! Take me back to that bitch Brit. She gone have to give up everything she might know about this nigga. I know she said that she ain't know shit, but she better come up with something or I'd hate to snatch son-son lil ass up and let him watch me murk his momma." I said.

"You ain't shit nigga. Kids always off limits. Remember? Shit, you the one made the rule." Namier said.

"Kids still off limits, that's why I'll spare him but make him watch her ass take her last breath. You think I give a fuck about anything right now especially some muthafuckin rules? This nigga snatched my momma at gunpoint! Ain’t no rules around this bitch no more!” I barked at that nigga.

Now wasn't the time to be bringing up rules I've made.

Hell, I made em, so I know exactly what the fuck I said.

"Hell nah! I know you don't give a fuck." Namier shook his head while Zaire stood there silent. I knew his mind was running wild. We had to fix this shit quick before anybody had time to overthink anything.

Mars knew what to do right now. I ain't have to tell him to clean this bullshit. Just as I was about to load me and my brothers up, my father drove up and jumped out of his car.

"What the fuck is going on around here? And where is your mother? Hearing all this gunfire and not being able to reach her had me thinking the worst so I rushed here. Where is she?"
