Chapter Five- Dior #3
“Nobody else is here, which is pretty fucked up. Where the fuck is Angel, Edwardo? What did you do to her?” Now it was Snow’s turn to address Edwardo. Snow stood next to his brother, glaring down at the older man, but Edwardo acted as if he didn’t understand English.
“Aye, where the fuck is Angel?” Snow asked a second time.
“She flew away, like a little bird. She’s just like her mother in so many ways. They love fucking losers on the side, and they love running away,” Edwardo smirked.
“I promise you, if you hurt my woman, knowing she’s carrying my baby, Buddha wouldn’t be the one you’ll have to worry about,” Snow threatened him with a cold glare.
Mia squeezed my hand tightly, and I turned to her. The expression in her eyes had me wishing I’d never dragged her into this. “It will be alright,” I whispered to her and gave her a brave smile. All she did was look at me as if I were crazy.
“Now, I’m going to ask you one more time. Where are Francesco and Luca hiding?” Buddha asked for a second time.
“I told you already, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Pow!
A single gunshot rang out, followed by Edwardo screaming.
Buddha shot him in his left knee. “Do you think my brother and I came here to waste time? One thing about those tables, they always turn. I remember the way you tortured me, so much that I wished I would die. Even after you released me, I still wanted to die. I always knew the day would come when I would be the one looking at you, dealing with you the same way you dealt with me.” I looked at Buddha closely as he spoke about his kidnapping.
His eyes seemed so dead and faraway, almost as if he went back in time to when Edwardo had taken him.
Grimacing in pain as he covered his knee, trying to stop the bleeding, Edwardo looked at Buddha and shook his head.
“You think you can fuck a man’s wife and get away with it?
You’re a very delusional young man; you always have been,” Edwardo’s voice was barely above a whisper, and his eyes seemed to be rolling into the back of his head.
The pain from being shot was getting to be too much.
“Now, are you gonna tell me what I wanna know? Or do I have to shoot you in your other kneecap? I can do this all fucking day,” Buddha placed the barrel of the gun flush against Edwardo’s good knee, his finger on the trigger.
“Jesus, ok, ok, I’ll tell you. Just don’t shoot me; this knee is already fucked up enough,” Edwardo exhaled loudly and closed his eyes, shutting them tightly.
“They’re back in Italy.”
“Italy is a big fucking place, mothafucka. Where in fucking Italy?” Buddha asked, hitting Edwardo upside the head.
“That I do not know. However, I believe if you find Catalina…you’ll find them both,” Edwardo gave Buddha an eerie smile.
I frowned slightly because what the fuck does Catalina have to do with all of this?
The look on Buddha’s face indicated he wasn’t even surprised, almost as if he knew about Catalina’s involvement.
“Did you always know Enzo was your son?” Buddha’s question deepened the frown on my face. What the fuck was going on?
“Do you still think Catalina’s an innocent delicate flower?
You’re just as stupid as that teenage boy she groomed and started fucking all those years ago.
Do you think she started fucking you because you were irresistible?
I hate to burst your bubble, but she found out I was cheating on her.
So she did what she believed would really fucking hurt.
She started fucking somebody half my age, knowing she was fucking pregnant.
That disrespectful cagna (bitch) started fucking you to get back at me.
I made her ass regret it, though.” Listening to Edwardo confess that he knew all along Catalina was pregnant was fucking mind-blowing.
Victoria was right about that woman, and I hated admitting it, even to myself.
“Who did you hire to kill Lorenzo and my dog? Where can I find that fucker?” Buddha asked, ignoring everything Edwardo just said.
“That wasn’t me. That was all Francesco, I swear.”
Buddha looked intently at Edwardo; he didn’t seem convinced that he was telling him the truth, and because he didn’t believe him, he had to show that he thought he was lying. Grabbing the knee that had the bullet wound, he squeezed it hard as fuck, until blood started oozing like a fountain.
“Ahhhh, owwww…fuck!” Edwardo hollered like a hit dog.
“Are you lying to me? Are you fucking lying to me?” Buddha squeezed even harder; I shut my eyes because the look on Buddha’s face was one I didn’t ever want to remember.
That look was pure evil and filled with hate.
He was in a very dark place, I could tell.
I began to regret not leaving the moment he and Snow came in.
My stomach lurched as Edwardo began screaming even louder; I wasn’t sure how much more of this I could stomach.
Then Edwardo’s screams suddenly stopped. I slowly opened my eyes only to see that he had passed out from the pain.
“No, no, you don’t get to fall asleep and miss all the fun. Wake the fuck up, mothafucka,” Buddha said, slapping his face over and over.
“I need to find out where the fuck Angel is,” Snow muttered to his brother. He impatiently balled his fist, connecting it to Edwardo's stomach. That did the trick, and he woke up immediately.
“Yo, hear me out, old man, tell us what we wanna know, and we’ll let you live. Who killed Lorenzo and my brother’s dog, and where in the fuck is my girl and unborn baby?” Edwardo’s head was just flopping around from side to side as he struggled to keep alert.
“I swear, I don’t know anything about who killed your friend and dog.
Angel left; she left with her fiancé, Mervin.
He agreed to take her back, regardless of how she cheated.
Please, leave an old man alone. Let me die with dignity; leave me alone.
” Edwardo closed his eyes, releasing a tired sigh before opening them again and looking at Buddha.
“Where the fuck did he take her?” Snow kept pushing, getting down to Edwardo's eye level.
“How the fuck would I know? I’m just happy there’s a man that actually wants to marry her,” Edwardo said, smirking at Snow even as he struggled to stay conscious.
“I should shoot you in your neck and sit and watch until you fucking bleed the fuck out,” Snow pointed the gun at him, placing the nozzle right against his throat.
“I’m dead either way,” Edwardo answered with an eerie smirk as though death meant nothing to him.
“Stupid mothafucka,” Snow said, slapping him upside the head before walking off.
“Where’s your phone?” Buddha asked Edwardo. With shaky hands, Edwardo took out his device and handed it over.
“Call that pussy, Francesco,” Buddha requested, handing Edwardo his phone back.
“He told me I’m not supposed to call him.”
“What the fuck did I just say? Call that deceitful stronzo (asshole) and put the call on speaker.” I made a face when Buddha’s fist connected directly with Edwardo’s face.
The impact was so violent that Edwardo’s head snapped backward.
I almost thought it would roll right off.
I knew Buddha was reacting out of revenge, because he despised Edwardo.
“Ahhh,” Edwardo grunted as he unlocked his phone and called Francesco. The call was connected after the third ring.
“Why the fuck does your stupid ass keep calling me?” Francesco’s rough voice filled the quiet of the room through the speaker. Snatching the phone from Edwardo, Buddha placed it to his face.
“We’re coming for you and your fuck face son.”
Pow!
Buddha fired the fatal shot that took Edwardo’s life. He made sure that the gunshot was heard on the other end of the line by Francesco before he ended the call, tossing the phone on the ground.
Mia and I started screaming when the single gunshot pierced a hole into Edwardo’s temple. He fell to the ground with a sickening thud. The blood and brain matter were so thick as it spilled out of the hole in his head; the sight made me bend over to throw up.
“Oh shit, Dior,” Mia said, moving her foot so my vomit wouldn’t get on her heels. I threw up over and over until the only thing left was yellow bile.
“The fuck you do that for? He didn’t tell me where the fuck Angel is,” Snow protested, going up to Buddha as he stared at Edwardo’s dead body.
“We’ll find her, don’t worry. Let’s go,” Buddha stepped over Edwardo’s dead body and made his way over to us. He looked at me with a genuinely confused look on his face. It was like he wanted to know what was the reason for me throwing up.
“Why the fuck you over here puking your guts out? Stop acting like you've never seen a dead body before. Get the fuck up and let’s go.” He reached for me and all but dragged me to my feet.
Wiping my mouth with the back of my hand, Mia and I had no choice but to follow both Buddha and Snow out of the house.
As soon as we got outside, Buddha ordered Mia and me to stop walking. We immediately did as we were told, and he focused his attention on my friend.
“I wanted you here because I know you two are close friends. Now, you know who Dior is married to. Since you both are best friends, I’m guessing I have nothing to worry about. I know that Mia will never tell anyone what she saw here today. Am I right?” He waited for Mia to agree to his question.
