Chapter Five- Dior #4
“Yes, I wouldn’t say anything; I promise,” Mia replied, as she nodded her head like a bobblehead doll.
“I need you to understand that if you ever speak on this, Dior will also be arrested right along with us, and I know you do not want to see your friend go to prison. Do you want to see your friend go to prison, Mia?” Buddha reached into his pocket, took out a packet of cigarettes, and took one out.
He waited patiently for Mia to respond to his question.
“As I said, I won’t say anything, I promise,” Mia said calmly as she watched Buddha light his cigarette and begin to smoke like nobody’s business.
“I’m counting on you; don’t let me down. Snow will make sure you get home safely. Let’s go, Dior,” he said, blowing a puff of cigarette smoke in the air before he walked off to where I parked.
I turned to my friend and gave her a weak smile before she left with Snow.
“I’m sorry about all of this and for almost throwing up on your feet,” I cracked, trying to make light of our situation.
Mia smiled lovingly at me, and then she embraced me.
A hug that I desperately needed, as I held on tight.
“Don’t worry about it. You stay safe, and I’m stronger than you think.
Everything that happened today would never leave me, I swear to you.
” Leaning into me so I was the only person who would hear what she was saying, Mia whispered in my ear.
“This shit was kind of fucking sexy. You're living in a real-life mafia romance with a sexy-ass Italian. Isn’t your pussy wet? Cause mine sure is…I’ll see you later. ”
All I could do was stand there shocked as my best friend walked away with my brother-in-law. She was chatting it up with Snow, and I just knew she was shooting her shot too. I shook my head because Mia-Lee was fucking crazy. Meanwhile, I’m over here shitting bricks and throwing up like a punk.
“Dior, let’s go. What are you waiting for? For the police to come and arrest our ass?” I looked at Buddha before I began walking toward the car. I wondered what I did in my past life to deserve this crazy fate handed to me. Maybe I was a fucking serial killer in my past life.
As I drove us away from Edwardo’s home, passing the two dead security guards at the gate, I took a deep breath and turned to Buddha. “What happens now?”
“Now, I go to Italy with Snow.”
My hand tightened around the steering wheel. Hearing those words made me break out in a cold sweat because the last time he left me, he got shot.
“How soon will you leave?”
“Probably tonight. I gotta see if we can hire the private jet first.” he pulled out his phone and made a call.
I remained silent as he spoke to his father on the other end, filling him in on what had just transpired.
Buddha told his father that he and Snow needed the jet in order to get to Italy tonight or first thing in the morning.
He ended the call after a couple of minutes.
Biting into my bottom lip, I thought about my next obvious question because I had every right to know.
“How long have you known about Catalina and her involvement in all of this?” It was almost as though I didn’t ask shit. Buddha just sat there in silence, not even making an attempt to answer what I asked. “You’re not gonna answer my question?”
“Yesterday on our way to Lorenzo’s funeral,” he responded as if he didn’t even want to fill me in.
“Yesterday? It’s an entirely new fucking day, Buddha. So it never once crossed your mind to share that information with me?” I kept my tone at one level because I wasn’t really looking for an argument; I was just looking for answers.
“For you to run to Victoria after you found out. That’s the last thing I’d fucking want,” I flinched at what he said as if I’d been slapped in the face.
“I would not have done that again. Jesus, I feel as though everything with Catalina is always so fucking secretive with you. It’s fucking annoying,” I muttered, feeling my anger rise even though I was trying my best not to get upset.
“This argument that you’re trying to start — can I take a fucking raincheck?” My anger level went from 4.5 to a solid 10 in less than a second because Buddha sure had a lot of fucking nerve.
“I feel like all of our disagreements are centered around fucking Catalina! I can’t ask you this; I can’t ask you that.
You’ve barely spoken to me since the incident, and then you come home and tell me I need to deceive people to get you into Edwardo’s house.
Then, to top everything off, you ask me to get my friend involved in setting a man up to be killed.
Yet you didn’t have the common decency to tell me about Catalina.
When does it fucking end?” I felt myself getting hysterical, and I had to stop and catch my breath.
“It doesn’t.” Those two words uttered by Buddha were said barely above a whisper.
However, those were the loudest two words I ever heard in my fucking life, because I knew he was telling the truth.
Being part of the Ricci family, shit like this will never end…
It’s just who they are; it’s in their DNA.
