Chapter 5

It felt so good to let go.

To kiss him, my angel, my Azrael, and damn the consequences.

First he took my pants off, leaving my silk lace underwear intact while he shimmed my shirt down over my hips so that I could step out of it.

Grabbing his pants, I undid his zipper, my heart fluttering with a little thrill when he allowed it.

This was forbidden.

Wrong.

I could lose everything. My mates, my life, if we went through with this.

But the red bleeding into Azra’s gaze said that if I didn’t do something right now, I’d lose him forever, and that wasn’t an option.

Still, it didn’t come without risk. This was a decision that affected others.

Checking my frail connection to my mates, I reached out to them.

Orion.

Logan.

Hendrik.

Dante.

They were all there. They couldn’t speak to me, but I felt their encouragement.

They wanted this for me, no matter the risk.

When they’d first been infected by Calamity, my connection with them had been choked off completely. However over time I had been able to sense them again.

I hoped it meant that our bonds were healing… that they were fighting this and winning.

As soon as I could, I’d go see them again in the Enchanted Forest and reassure them that this would all be over soon.

Just like Azra would do anything for me, I’d do anything for him, for them, for all of my Virtues.

“The others approve,” I informed Azra.

“Do you fear for them?” he asked, tilting his head as blood leaked from his eyes.

A trail of red, bloody tears ran down the arch of his cheek, making my heart twist. “This is why Sam was angry, beloved. He believes that you would risk the lives of your other Virtues for Cole… but not us. I wanted… to prove my brother wrong.” He pushed away from me and coughed, blood coming up onto his palm.

This time the blood was black.

Reaching for him, I pressed my lips to his, telling him without words that I loved all of my Virtues equally. Of course I feared for them, but I feared for him, too.

I tasted evil on his tongue, the raw essence of a force so opposite to his that it should have killed him already.

But he was fighting… for us… for me.

“Why would you do this?” I breathed, tears burning hot in my eyes. “Dying doesn’t prove anything except you’re an idiot.”

He chuckled. “Perhaps, but we’ve had it wrong all this time. We’ve been expecting you to conform to us, to balance Light and Dark, Heaven and Hell, while never expecting us to change. That’s not what Kaito did, is it?”

I stroked his cheek, wiping the darkness from the perfection of his face. “What do you mean?”

Azra wrapped his arms around my middle and pulled me in close.

With his jeans undone, his erection pressed against my stomach and made me want to do very unholy things to him.

“Kaito embraced a new form… a new life. He bonded to you both as a mortal and as a Kami. His Kami was his true nature, but he followed the path you offered him. He changed for you… just as I need to change in order to become compatible with you. Not the other way around, beloved. You are perfect just as you are. I am the one who is flawed.”

I blinked at him, stunned.

Some girls went into relationships understanding that change was impossible.

That was a fantasy.

But what if my life was the fantasy every girl dreamed about? Being loved so much that nothing was off the table.

“You’d… do that for me?” I asked.

He closed his eyes and leaned his forehead against my shoulder as his wings fanned around us, now completely black. “I’d do anything for you, Lilith.”

I believed him.

He’d created this garden of cherry trees with my essence in order to test a theory, one that put his life on the line. He didn’t mean to help me find a balance between Heaven and Hell. Instead, he meant to find that balance within himself.

You’re perfect just as you are.

His words rang over and over in my mind. I fell to my knees and pulled his pants down as he watched me under a hooded gaze.

“Lilith,” he breathed, my name a husky prayer on his lips. “I’m supposed to worship you, not the other way around.”

Ignoring him, I wrapped my fingers around his shaft and swallowed him whole.

We both groaned at the impact. He was even sweeter than the heavenly cherry he’d had me sample.

Azrael was bliss incarnate.

He’d thrown his head back as he cursed, making the ground tremble again.

The cherries around us bled into the dirt, melting the pristine gold and silver that lined the paths, revealing the fertile soil of Hell’s natural layers.

We were damaging the holy ground that the twins had carefully cultivated, but I didn’t care. Maybe this was what was supposed to happen.

Maybe Azra was right. Maybe I wasn’t the one who needed to change. Balance wasn’t just something that existed inside myself.

All of my Virtues were an extension of myself, too. They each were an integral part of my heart, cultivating the entirety of my destiny into one of our own choosing.

Swirling my tongue around the head of his cock, he backed against the strong base of a tree and flared his wings. Darkness that had corrupted them retreated, returning his plumes to their perfect white.

The darkness crept over his arms and his torso, streaking impressive swirls and runes that marked him as mine.

“Lilith.” He said my name again with sweet reverence. “I put my life in your hands. I take your blessing for what it is, a stroke of mercy that will break my soul so that you can reform it into one that fits into the mold you desire, one worthy of a Virtue to serve you.”

His vow touched me and I rewarded him by running my tongue over the full length of his shaft before taking him into my mouth again.

I could get drunk on his taste… on his words of prayer and reverence.

I wanted him to come for me. I wanted to taste his pleasure and show him what his reckless loyalty meant to me.

Working him with long, quick strokes, he panted and his bright gaze told me he knew what I wanted from him.

It wouldn’t take away the plans he had for me. He was an angel. He would be erect and hard for me again in a matter of moments after he came.

If he was anything like my demons, he would be insatiable.

Eagerness to find out everything he liked, his preferences, what made him lose control, drove me to swallow him deep until he cried out my name with a plea.

He gave me what I wanted.

My shock displayed plainly on my face when I tasted him, delighted to find that my angel’s essence quenched my thirst just like Holy Water, burning down my throat like expensive whisky.

The golden sheen of my gaze settled as a strange balance formed in my soul. I hadn’t quite bonded with Azrael yet, but we’d taken an important step.

He grinned at me when I ran my tongue over my lower lip, catching the last bit of sweetness into my mouth.

The succubus inside of me was delirious with the amount of power he’d just given me.

“Hmm,” Azrael said, his tone approving. “You’re so beautiful with my cum on your lips.” He leaned down and wrapped his fingers around my arm, pulling me up. His gaze ran over the full length of me, appreciative of my breasts and the thin lace panties that did little to hide me from him.

Just as predicted, his erection returned in the next instant, making my eyes go wide. He stroked himself once while he looked at me. The tip of his cock glittered with an invitation of cum produced from the motion.

Just from looking at me.

“Get on your knees,” he ordered, making my entire body shiver with anticipation. “And no matter what happens, you’re not allowed to move.”
