“Nigga, I’m grown! You ain’t my daddy!” Darielle was going off, leading her and DJ to having a shouting match.

“Aye, y’all chill the fuck out with all that noise. I’m about to have company and I ain’t for it.” Carmelo was obviously tired of hearing it. Both younger siblings got quiet as a mouse, giving him the respect that he demanded.

“I’m on my way as soon as I get to my car. Tell Darrielle to stay her hot ass there until I come,” Cash replied before she hung up.

“Where you wanna go, friend? I can bring you,” Clover offered.

“I’m not in a hurry to deal with that bullshit. You can bring me home to get my car. They can wait.”

“Bitch, now, you know I’m too nosey to do that. Where we going?”

“Say less. Make a U-turn at the next intersection and turn left at the second light.”

Clover nodded and followed her friend’s directions. Cash talked about The Green all the time, but Clover wasn’t very familiar with the area. It was nice to finally have a visual of a place that she’d heard so much about.

“Girl, you ain’t lie. Every house on the block is a different shade of green.” Clover looked around and observed her surroundings.

“And been like this for years. Every ugly shade of green that you can think of. Bitch, look at the chick with the long blonde braids sitting on the porch.”

“What about her?” Clover glanced at the other woman but she wasn’t much to look at in her opinion. She was passing a blunt back and forth with two other men while sipping on a daiquiri.

“That’s the hoe, Monee, that I was telling you about.”

“The ex-best friend who got caught with your ex nigga?”

“Yep, dumb bitch did all that time in jail and still ain’t learn shit.”

Cash shook her head. Monee did eight of her ten year sentence and was released on probation.

She didn’t have anyone or anything to come home to, so she stayed in a women’s shelter for a while until she got a housing voucher.

Sadly, she ended up right back in The Green a few houses down from her old one.

She worked as a waitress, and Cash only found that out when she and her husband went out to dinner one night.

They didn’t sit in her section but she still avoided them as much as she could.

According to Ms. Rose, Monee was still a hoe, even though she had a live-in boyfriend.

Drew was still locked up but Kyla was married and living in Dallas with her husband and other kids.

Andrea was a teen now and she was in New Orleans with her father’s family more than she was in Texas.

Andrew was home, so she was with him and Addison more than anything.

“She better be thankful for that body cause that face ain’t it.”

Clover pulled up to the house that Cash told her to.

She called inside for her little sister to come out right as a dark green Lexus SUV pulled up a minute or two later.

There were lots of spots in front of the house, but the car parked four houses down.

Clover loved anything green so she stared at the car, admiring its beauty.

When the doors opened and a woman stepped out, her mouth hung open in shock.

“Aww shit, he must be back dealing with this delusional ass bitch,” Cash hissed.

“I know you fucking lying! Who do she mess with back here?”

“My brother. Why? You know her?”

“That’s the bitch that I just got into it with. That’s Trent’s mama, Trudy.”

“What! Are you sure, Clover?”

Cash had seen the woman more than once but she never knew or had a desire to know her name.

She remembered that she cashed out on Carmelo and got him everything that he needed when he first came home from prison all those years ago.

They messed around for a while, but her brother wasn’t a one-woman kinda man.

He eventually sent her on her way, but they had obviously reconnected.

“Bitch, I’m very sure. She handled my divorce. That’s the old hoe that I told you I had it out with. And the bitch is married,” Clover replied as she pulled out her phone and started recording.

“What are you doing?” Cash laughed at how serious Clover looked.

“Getting a little insurance just in case I need it.”

“That ain’t gon’ do shit. It ain’t like she’s with a nigga. She’s a lawyer; she can easily lie her way out of that.”

“Damn, you’re right too. How did your brother meet her?”

“I don’t even know. All I know is that he came home to a fully furnished bedroom with more clothes and shoes than he knew what to do with thanks to her. Carmelo said she was the best suga mama that he ever had.”

“I need to ask your brother some questions.”

“Girl, he don’t give a damn about her desperate ass. I’m sure he won’t mind answering.”

They both watched, as Trudy looked around nervously before walking up to the door.

She was about to knock until Darrielle opened it and walked out.

Carmelo was right behind her, making sure she got in the car with Cash.

He had a blunt dangling from his lips that he handed over to Trudy.

She was all smiles when he grabbed her by the top of her jeans and pulled her inside.

“Let the muthafucking games begin,” Clover said with a mischievous smile. Trudy played with the right one, but she was always down for a good game. She was about to learn that Clover didn’t just play, she played to win the gold.
