Chapter Four

The black luxury sedan was back in the pull-through drive-up for the condo complex when I returned.

Although it wasn’t a hotel, it certainly acted like one.

There was even valet service. Paolo didn’t use that, but he only lived on the twelfth floor.

The tower was over forty stories high, and the top ten or so housed some very wealthy people, as the car evidenced.

However, on my return, I didn’t encounter Power-Man.

He was nowhere to be seen, in fact, as I walked through the lobby, nodding at the woman behind the counter.

I’d been introduced and cleared by Paolo a few weeks into our relationship.

It wasn’t a key, but it’d been nice to be told that I was welcomed enough to be identified at the front desk.

I reached the elevator, but before I could hit the button, it emitted a chime, and the light came on overhead. A second later, the doors started to slide open. I was already moving to the side when I realized who was inside.

“You,” I said.

“Again,” he replied, staring me down with his intense blue eyes.

“Are those real?”

He stared at me, still standing in the elevator. “Are what real?”

“Your eyes.”

The stare I got was, if anything, more confused.

“Uh, the color, I mean. Like, do you wear contacts? Or are they naturally like that?”

“Natural,” he said slowly, looking me over.

I absolutely did not thrust my chest out at him as he scanned me. Not much, that was.

The elevator chimed, and the doors began to slide closed. Power-Man’s arm came up, stopping them cold. They slid open.

“You’ve been crying,” he said, stepping out and forcing me to crank my head back as he came close, wafting his scent of fresh air, leather, and a hint of smoky something that I couldn’t identify but had me wanting to bury my nose in his chest.

“What’s it to you? Another lesson in power?” I asked more than a little snarkily.

“No.”

His gaze lingered on me, forcing me to fight back a rising tide of warmth.

Why did it have to start between my legs with him?

He was attractive, sure, but I didn’t drink a love potion or something.

I didn’t want a stranger holding that kind of power over me.

Yet the longer he looked into my face, the more I wanted to throw myself at him.

Tear his clothes off, drop to my knees, take him into my mouth.

I wanted to be spun around, to feel him part my cheeks and slide inside me.

Those hands would dig deep into my waist, pulling me back against his hard cock, making me moan his name.

“What’s your name?” I asked, my fantasy coming to a sudden end as I realized I didn’t have a hint as to who he was.

“Don’t let someone make you cry,” he said, then stepped past me. His driver pulled open the building’s entrance door and held it for him before rushing to open the car door.

“That was weird,” I said to nobody, trying to ignore the pulsing ache between my legs that was slow to fade away.

I got in the elevator just in time to see him look back at me before entering his car. He flashed a grin my way, and my knees wobbled, sending me reeling back into the elevator, seeking somewhere to brace myself.

“What the fuck,” I hissed, trying to get a hold of myself. Who was that guy? He had looks that could melt the clothes right off me.

The elevator doors chimed and opened again to reveal the ground floor. Someone else needed to go up. They got in, and I hastily punched the twelfth floor.

That was how long I had to compose myself. Twelve floors.

It was time to get my mind on track and win back my boyfriend.
