Chapter 10

“Oh my God this is so bomb. Taste this,” Kirah held out a spoon with one hand. Her other hand was placed underneath the spoon to catch any sauce that may have dripped off.

Amar walked over to her and tasted some of the made from scratch spaghetti sauce off the spoon. “That shit hit,” he admitted.

Kirah beamed. “Told yo’ ass I could cook. The food is ready. If you want to have a seat at the table, I’ll bring you your plate.”

Amar headed to the bathroom to wash his hands.

He had known Kirah for a minute. She was cool but when he met Heiress, she kind of took the top spot.

Now that Heiress was no more, Kirah was falling into the number one spot.

When Amar first started kicking it with her, he kind of got spoiled brat, childish, immature vibes.

Her father spoiled her rotten, and Amar wasn’t in the mood to put up with that shit, but Kirah was cool.

She was a phlebotomist, and she was in school to become a medical assistant.

Her father was a hustler that copped work from Canyon.

Her father was a dope boy back in the day.

He turned his drug money into a legal business and let Kirah’s mother run it for him.

She ran his business for five years and in that last year, something changed.

He found out that not only was his wife fucking up his money, she was fucking around on him.

They broke up and by then, the damage to his business was too severe to be fixed.

He had to shake back, and he did it by copping some work from Canyon.

Whether he was hustling or working a legit job, one thing he always did was spoil Kirah.

She was the kind of female that had designer in high school.

He also paid the rent for her apartment even though she worked.

Kirah only worked part-time since she was in school.

Once Amar got to know her, she wasn’t as bad as he’d assumed.

Shorty could cook, she wasn’t an airhead, and she had goals.

Since she had those things going for her, he didn’t mind that she whined every now and then for a Chanel bag or some bundles.

Shit, he wasn’t her man but at the same time, he would feel lame if he couldn’t even do half of what her father could do for her.

After all, he was laying up in her crib fucking her.

It wasn’t like he was paying for the pussy, but Amar knew how the game went.

He sat down at the table, and she placed a piping hot plate of food in front of him along with an ice-cold beer.

“What are we doing for your birthday?” she asked after sitting across from him.

Amar looked up, and she clarified quickly.

“Let me rephrase that. I don’t know if you have plans with other people for your birthday, but I would like to do something with you.

It doesn’t have to be anything major. I want to just like take you to a nice ass restaurant and help you enjoy your day. ”

Amar actually did have plans, but they weren’t anything major.

He had a dope ass man cave in his house that was big enough to comfortably fit thirty people.

He had two fifty inch televisions mounted on the wall, he had every game system there was, a pool table, a sound bar, a bar for drinks, and arcade games.

He had invited Diric, Canyon, and a few more people over to watch the fight, drink, smoke, and bullshit.

He was getting Canyon’s chef to cook for the event, and he had his bar stocked with all kinds of liquor and beer.

Since he didn’t do the club like that, it was going to be a real chill evening.

Amar could appreciate the fact that she wasn’t trying to infiltrate on the plans that he already had, but she wanted to do her own thing with him.

“That’s what’s up. You trying to take me out on a date?”

“Yeah, I am. It’s gon’ be some real nice and classy shit too.”

“Bet. I have somewhere to be at 8 on my actual birthday, but we can do the day before.”

Kirah smiled brightly. “It’s a date.”

Heiress rolled her eyes when she saw that a guy by the name of Phillip was messaging her on Snapchat.

She got the notification that he was typing and was instantly irritated that he just wouldn’t get the hint.

He messaged her at least once a week and she either always responded with a dry ass one word answer, or she didn’t reply at all.

The fact that he couldn’t see that she wasn’t interested was mind blowing.

Persistence wasn’t sweet and flattering when you didn’t like the nigga.

Heiress was almost tempted to block him.

She had spent nine days in Chicago, and it was cool but now that she was back, she had been in a funk.

It was probably because her period was on, but it was also because she wanted to call Amar.

She needed dick, and he was the only person that she wanted to get it from.

Of course, she could hit him up and let him know that she was no longer in Chicago, but Heiress didn’t want to do that.

She missed Amar. She was damn near craving him, and that wasn’t a good sign.

It meant that he wasn’t the only one that had caught feelings.

All of her mood swings, off and on behavior and baggage would be for sure reasons why months down the line he would regret it if they got serious.

Heiress was trying to save him some wasted time, and she knew that it came across that she was playing games, but she wasn’t.

She just wanted to heal from her past without damaging anyone else.

Ignoring the notification of a message from Phillip, Heiress got on Instagram and began scrolling.

She had only been scrolling for about five minutes when she saw a picture that made her heart stop.

Or at least it felt like it stopped. Came to a dramatic ass halt in her chest as she saw Amar in a picture with Kirah.

Tears swelled in her eyes as she read the caption.

Ki_the_boss: Had to do it big for my nigga’s G day. It’s only up from here.

Amar had gone out of his way to make her birthday special, and she hadn’t even sent him a text for his.

Now, she didn’t want to because he was on a date.

He looked so damn good. All she could do was stare at the screen as a tear spilled over her eyelid and splashed onto the phone.

Why did life have to be so complicated? Why couldn’t she just get past what Kevin had done to her and go on and live a normal ass life?

The shit was frustrating. Amar was living proof that no one was going to stop their lives on account of her.

He looked awesome dressed in black slacks, a nice red shirt, and red suede loafers.

The only jewelry that he donned were a pair of diamond earrings and a Rolex.

No necklaces or bracelets. Knowing Amar, he smelled amazing too.

Shorty on his arm was pretty as hell. Heiress couldn’t even cap.

She was bad. Light-skin, stood about 5’5 with ass and hips for days.

Her hair was in a long ponytail that came down to her ass, and she was dressed in a black cocktail dress that hugged her curves.

They looked like they were ,celebrating indeed, and lil’ mama was icy as fuck.

Rolex, three rings, two Cartier bracelets, a diamond necklace and diamond earrings.

Heiress found herself wondering if Amar had purchased her any of the jewelry that she wore.

Then, she concluded, what did it matter?

Amar would have given her anything she asked for.

Only, she didn’t want it because she didn’t want him.

With a huff, she logged off IG and picked up her remote control.

Heiress had seen enough. How could she be jealous?

At this point, she was the source of her own misery, and she hated it.

Heiress knew what she needed to do. She put the remote down and grabbed her phone.

She was going to stop playing and find a therapist.
