Chapter 9 #2

Yohana emerged from her car at the same time that Canyon got out of his.

He looked handsome as always. Yohana could tell he had a fresh cut.

His edge up was sharp as hell and perfectly lined.

It looked as if the barber had used a straight razor.

She could tell from the lick of his lips and the sparkle in his eyes, that he was as pleased with her appearance as she was his.

“Damn, you trying to give an old man a heart attack out here,” he stated before hugging her.

Yohana giggled. “We’re the same age, so you can’t be old, ‘cus I’m far from that.”

“Indeed, you are.”

They walked into the venue and proceeded to take a seat at the designated bar.

They were given brief history on all the bottles of wine while they sampled various cheeses and finger foods that paired well with each wine.

The winery even served food, so once the tasting was over, they ordered the bottle of wine that they liked best as well as some food.

Yohana was tipsy and feeling good. She looked over at Canyon and couldn’t believe how handsome he was.

He was the kind of handsome she rarely saw in person.

Just on television or social media. And that was saying something because Zone was far from ugly.

But Canyon, she just wanted to sit on his face.

“So, I have something I need to tell you.”

“Oh yeah? What’s that?” Canyon asked.

“I don’t think I’m going to re-up again.

My son is almost thirteen, and I should have known that I couldn’t keep certain things from him.

My uncle’s son let my son know that his father is a snitch, and he knows that his father is in prison for selling drugs.

My son has never seen the hood a day in his life.

He grew up sheltered, and he doesn’t get why his father would risk his freedom to deal drugs.

If something happened to me, and I had to leave Kari too, it would kill me.

Once these pounds are gone, I’m done. I enrolled in real estate school, and I’m selling Zone’s escalade. That’s going to have to hold me over.”

Canyon gave a slight head nod. “I can respect that. You sound like a very good mother.” He had to bite his tongue to keep from speaking on Zone.

He should have never left Yohana in the position where she wasn’t financially taken care of.

He wasn’t a perfect man by far, but one thing Cheyenne would never have to worry about was money.

“How much you selling the escalade for?”

“I was really going to take the best offer. I don’t know much about cars except how to drive them, but he’s only had the truck for three years. There’s only 32,000 miles on it, and he paid $72,000 for it.”

“I’ll give you $62,000 for it.”

Yohana’s brows rose slightly. “Really?”

“Yeah. I’ll get it for my brother. He has mad kids, and he drives a pickup truck, but it’s not very roomy.”

“Wow that’s nice of you. I didn’t know you had a brother.”

“Yeah. He’s my adopted brother. I grew up in foster care.

When I got to my last set of foster parents, my dad took a special liking to me because I’m part Dominican, and he was too.

I was adopted after a year of being with them.

My dad passed, but I’m still close with my mom and my other adopted siblings.

My brother is a year older than me, and he used to stay in trouble.

He turned his life around though, got married and had five kids. He’ll be happy to get it.”

“Wow that’s very nice of you. Just let me know when you want it, and we can work on switching the title.” Zone must have felt guilty about Kari being mad at him too because he stopped being a dick and told his mother to give Yohana the title.

“I can give you the money tomorrow. I just want you and your son to be straight.”

“Thank you,” Yohana smiled bashfully while her pussy started singing. It was straight calling Canyon’s name.

“It’s no problem. I guess I have some news to share as well.

I’m moving forward with my divorce. That was a big part of us I guess just playing things by ear, but it’s been six years since I’ve been able to be close with a woman.

I’ve done the random sex with women and not getting attached because I knew I had a wife, but I’m interested in dating.

Seriously. Seeing if we have the chemistry to build something solid.

I’m not a twenty-year-old anymore. The boring life excites me.

Is your situation still too fresh, or would you be willing to see where this goes? ”

Yohana sipped her wine. That wasn’t what she had expected to hear.

She didn’t give a damn about moving on from Zone, but she didn’t care to waste her time.

It would be fucked up to build with a man for four years and then have his ex-wife come home from prison and they hook back up.

“Is this something you’re sure about? The divorce I mean. ”

Canyon exhaled and sat back in his seat. “Yeah. There’s absolutely no reason to keep dragging the shit out. My marriage is over. It’s been over really. I just felt guilty. I learned a great lesson from it, and it’s time to move on.”

The waitress brought the food out, and Yohana thanked her. “What lesson did you learn?” she inquired after picking up her fork.

“That my actions can definitely affect other people. That if I’m not going to be faithful that I shouldn’t be in a relationship and that me being a fuck nigga can really damage a person.”

“Those were very good lessons to learn. It feels like forever since I dated. I would say I forgot how to do it but hanging with you has been pretty nice. Of course, I would have to balance what we do with being a mother. My son knows that I’m mad with his father, but I think for him to know I’m dating is too much.

I don’t think he’s ready for all that yet. ”

“I completely understand. I’m open and flexible to your schedule. I haven’t been out of town for pleasure in a little bit. No pressure, but I’d like to get away for a few days. Just let me know when you can. I don’t care if it’s a month from now.”

Yohana could appreciate how eager and serious he seemed about courting her.

She hadn’t felt this good in months. Shoot, in damn near a year.

“Kari is going with Zone’s mom next weekend.

They’re going to see Zone on Friday and then her family reunion is Saturday in South Carolina.

They won’t be back until Sunday evening. ”

“Cool. We can leave Friday and come back Sunday morning.”

“Where are we going?” She thought about the fact that she would be spending two nights with him, but it was fine.

This was their second date, and she still had time to get to know him through conversation before the trip.

Yohana couldn’t deny her attraction to him and if they ended up having sex so what, she was grown.

Yohana was thirty-five years old, and she had only slept with three men in her entire life.

She wouldn’t die from shame or embarrassment if she let Canyon ‘hit’ quick.

“Wherever you want to go.”

Yohana found herself becoming excited. “You might think it’s corny.”

“Nowhere is corny. Wherever you want is where we’re going.”

He was so serious. It was so damn cute. “I’ve always wanted to go to a ski resort.

Not to ski but just to look outside at the snow from inside a nice cozy cabin with a fireplace.

I normally hate the cold, but I think that would be so dope.

And us being inside hiding from the cold will force us to be alone with each other and we’ll discover that we either really like each other or hate each other. ”

Canyon chuckled. “That’s not a bad idea at all. I’ll have my travel agent get right on it.”

They finished their food and the bottle of wine and by the time they walked out to the parking lot Yohana was tipsy.

Borderline drunk. Canyon smelled so good, and his arms were so muscular, she just wanted him to pick her up and fuck her.

Just the thought caused her to shiver slightly, and she hoped he didn’t notice.

They walked to her car, and Canyon peered into her eyes. Yohana wondered what he was thinking. “I had a good time with you,” he stated.

Yohana smiled. “I had a good time with you too.”

“As soon as my travel agent confirms the details, I will text you with the trip information. Text me as soon as you get home and let me know you made it safely.”

“Will do.”

Canyon stepped closer and placed a kiss on her forehead.

Yohana’s eyes closed as she relished in the feel of his lips on her skin.

Canyon gave her one last look and headed for his car.

Yohana got into her car feeling as if she was on cloud nine.

Who would have thought that her meeting with the plug would result in her dating him?
