Chapter 23

“You sure you got everything you need to stay overnight?” Yohana asked Kari. She was getting ready to drop him off at his grandmother’s house, so he could go see his father the next day.

“Yeah. I do.”

“You excited to see your dad?” Yohana was still trying to feel Kari out.

He hadn’t said too much about Zone since he found out that his father was in prison for drugs and that he was a snitch.

Yohana was thinking about putting him in therapy.

He’d been staying busy with his games and playing sports with friends, but she wanted him to talk about how he felt.

Every time she asked, he said he was fine.

“I guess,” he mumbled.

“I know he misses you. You ready for our beach trip next week?”

“Yeah, I am.”

“Good. When you come back, we can go shopping and get some vacation things. Okay, go get your stuff, so we can go.”

Kari went to get his bag, and she checked her phone.

Yohana smiled at a text message from Canyon.

He was confirming that they were meeting up to get massages.

Each day, Yohana’s like for Canyon deepened.

He continued to be in his own lane when it came to dating and courting her.

He had even asked her to come look at houses with him.

He revealed he gave Cheyenne the house and 1.

5 million dollars. Yohana thought that was fair.

She dropped Kari off and made her way to Massage Envy.

She parked in the parking garage and as she crossed the street, she saw Canyon with his head down texting on his phone.

Damn he looked good. Yohana couldn’t get enough of him and anytime she was in his presence, she wanted to have sex with him.

He felt the same way. They had stimulating conversation and were getting to know each other on a deeper level, but they still had sex every chance they got.

He didn’t look up until she was right on him and when he noticed her, the brightest smile graced his face. “Damn you look good. As always.” He kissed her, and a chill ran down her spine. The things that he did to her were insane.

“Thank you.”

They checked in and then got couple’s massages.

When they were done, Yohana felt so good and relaxed.

Her and Kari were going on a three-day vacation to the beach, and that was three days she wouldn’t see Canyon.

She wanted to go back to his hotel room or her house and fuck his brains out.

Any time she was around Canyon, she got unbelievably horny.

Yohana stood off to the side and waited while he paid for the service.

On their way out the door, Canyon stopped dead in his tracks when he spotted Cheyenne coming in.

Large Gucci frames covered her face, but she saw Canyon and his companion very clear.

“Oh,” she smiled. “This is who you left me for?”

Canyon shook his head. “Cheyenne, we’re not doing this.”

She looked from him to Yohana and though she was still smiling on the outside, on the inside, her heart was breaking.

“Oh trust me when I tell you, I’m going to keep it cute.

Fucking with your last mistress took six years of my life from me.

” She looked over at Yohana. “I don’t know if you know my story sweetie but know this, Canyon doesn’t know how to be faithful.

One woman will never be enough for him. Just don’t get too attached to him because if he can’t do shit else, he can break a bitch’s heart,” she stated.

“I did six years in prison and when I came home, he wasted no time ditching me. For you it seems.”

She walked off leaving Canyon pissed and Yohana speechless.

They stepped outside, and Canyon peered at her.

“Don’t listen to that shit. I have been honest and told you everything about me and Cheyenne.

I admitted that I cheated, and I told you I learned my lesson from that. I wouldn’t do that to you.”

Yohana wasn’t sure what she was supposed to say.

She liked Canyon, but she didn’t want to be a fool for anyone.

However, he did seem like he had learned his lesson.

Only time would tell. She couldn’t expect Cheyenne to be happy about seeing him with another woman.

Her throwing a little salt was to be expected.

“We’ve been doing good,” Canyon stated adamantly. “Don’t let this affect what we have going on. Please.”

“It’s fine,” was her reply, but she wasn’t sure if she meant it. She was too old to be out here getting her heart broken, but that was a gamble one always took when playing the game of love.

He could sense her hesitation. Before, she had been smiling and comfortable. Now, she seemed unsure. Canyon grabbed her hands and stared into her eyes. “I fucked up with Che―”

Yohana cut him off. “You’ve told me more than once how many times you’ve apologized to her.

I can’t speak on how she feels. She has a right to be hurt for sure.

But you don’t have to apologize to me for what went on with you and her.

Never apologize to me for your past. Just promise me that you’ll move different with me. That’s what I need from you.”

At that moment, Canyon dead ass felt like he fell in love with Yohana. She was the woman for him. He could feel that shit in his soul. When you know you just know. “That’s something you never have to worry about.”

Call her silly, but she believed him. Cheyenne watched through the glass doors of the massage place with her blood boiling.

There was no doubt in her mind that even though he did dumb shit at times at one point, Canyon had absolutely loved her.

The way he was looking at this bitch was a way that he hadn’t looked at her in a very long time.

Thank God for growth, because Cheyenne now knew there was only one thing she could do. Walk away with her head held high.

Amar sipped his Casamigos as he watched Diric miss his shot.

After one more sip, he placed his glass down and prepared to take a shot.

Even though he had a pool table in his man cave, sometimes he just wanted a different environment.

Him and Amar had linked to play pool. By the time the first round was done, both men were tipsy and talking shit to one another competitively.

The smile disappeared from Amar’s face instantly as a stranger invaded his personal space.

“What up, Amar?” the man spoke like they were friends.

Amar didn’t know him, but he knew who the lame ass nigga was.

It was Kevin. The lame ass nigga that beat Heiress and left her scarred both literally and figuratively.

Amar was used to being known by niggas that didn’t know him.

But he knew enough about this nigga, and his trigger finger was itching.

“Do I fuckin’ know you?” he spat.

Kevin was caught off guard by Amar’s aggressiveness.

He held his hands out in surrender. “Aye, I’m just coming to you on some respectful business type shit that’s all.

” Kevin lowered his voice. “I’m interested in copping.

That’s it. It’s no secret that your crew has some of the purest shit in the city. Hell the state,” he chuckled.

Amar glared at the man as he sipped his drink. Diric sensed the tension and was at Amar’s side immediately. He didn’t know who this nigga was or what the issue was, but if Amar didn’t fuck with the nigga, he didn’t either, and if the nigga even blinked wrong, that was his ass.

“You know who my lady is?” Amar asked coolly.

Kevin didn’t, so he cocked his brows up from confusion. “Nah. Nah, I don’t. Should I?”

“My lady is Heiress. The woman that you beat the fuck out of when she tried to leave your lame ass.”

All the color drained from Kevin’s face.

That was the last thing that he expected to hear.

Kevin was a narcissist, he was controlling, abusive, and some mo’ shit, but he loved Heiress.

The thought of her leaving him had truly sent him over the edge.

Even now, hearing that she was with Amar did something to him, but he knew better than to let his anger show.

“Listen man, that was a long time ago. Heiress and I had our own shit going on. Respectfully, you wasn’t there―”

Before he could finish his sentence, Amar had cocked his fist back and knocked the nigga out.

Kevin hit the floor and started snoring immediately.

Amar looked down at him angrily pissed that the man was such an easy win.

He wanted to beat his ass some more, but there was no fun in beating a nigga that wasn’t even conscious.

Kevin’s friends came over and dragged his ass out of the bar.

Diric thought back to when he put his hands on Raven, and he was once again ashamed of himself.

He knew he needed to apologize to her. At first, he felt like simply saying sorry was some bullshit, but he had to say something.

Saying nothing at all was some real sucka shit.

Once him and Amar parted ways, Diric headed for Raven’s house.

She probably didn’t want to see him, but he had to try.

Diric pulled into the driveway and grabbed the box from the backseat.

He rang the bell and waited patiently for Raven to answer.

It had been two days since he’d seen her.

When she peeked out of the blinds and saw that it was him, Raven kissed her teeth and snatched the door open.

“Fuck you want?” her attitude was heavy.

“I came to apologize.” Diric looked sincere, but she was still pissed.

“Fuck can I do with an apology? I’ve been through too much to allow you to get mad and put your hands on me.

Do I look like your child? You don’t get your point across to me by putting your hands on me,” she spat.

“I don’t put up with that shit. I will never be that girl that lets a man beat on me. ”

“I don’t expect you to be. I fucked up. If you truly can’t forgive me then that’s what it is, but I’m sorry, and I won’t do that shit again. I was drunk, I was jealous, I didn’t like your outfit. That shit just sent me man. I’m sorry.”

There was a brief moment of silence because she really didn’t know if she could forgive him. Raven didn’t take abuse lightly. Especially, when she had just healed from being attacked. Diric continued looking at her like a wounded puppy and with a roll of her eyes, she stepped back and let him in.

“I got you this,” he handed her the box.

Raven walked over to the couch while staring curiously down at the box. When she opened it, her eyes widened at the pretty ass pink and grey Glock 42.

“Since your last gun got stolen.”

Raven smirked. “You think it’s smart to give me this?”

“Yeah, ‘cus I’ll never put my hands on you again,” he stated adamantly.

He just stood there until she finally sighed. “Sit down, Diric.” He sat beside her, and she placed the gun and the box on the table. “The worst thing you could ever do is take this one last chance for granted because I’m not playing with you.”

“I get it. Raven, I know you’re grown and shit, but the see through clothes and shit ma―”

“Am I your girlfriend?” she snapped cutting him off.

“If it’ll make you not wear that shit again, then yes. Be my girl.”

Raven didn’t even think she needed to be in another relationship so soon after Xander. “I haven’t even been single for three months.”

“So, what that mean?”

“Diric…”

He leaned over and kissed her on the lips.

“I’m trying to fuck with you, Raven.” He kissed her on the neck.

“You and only you.” He gently bit her earlobe.

“A nigga not thinking about nobody else but you.” By the time he kissed her lips again, she was sold.

Raven was willing to give him one more chance.

If he fucked it up, then that was on him.
