3. Koi Adora Morgan
“Hey. Yeah, I just got here. He’s not answering the door, so I’m going to let myself in,” I informed Alayshia. She managed Han’some and had contacted me for help with locating him.
According to her, something happened on social media with Han’some and Fontana, but since she was out of town with another client, I was the only one she was able to get in contact with who knew the code to his home.
As his stylist, I was always in his closet, and since he trusted me enough to shop for him, I always brought his clothes home to hang them up.
Or sometimes, I came over to get a look ready for him before an event.
The way we operated was on a case-by-case basis, but this was my first time ever abusing my power.
I didn’t have time to see what happened, as I had a short window of time to sneak out of the house since my parents went to bed.
If I was back in the morning before they woke up, they would never know I left.
Han’some had better be glad I cared a little about him because I was risking my parents’ wrath by going to check on him.
Using the pin for his floor, I was granted access to the private elevator that led to his condo.
The ride up was quick, and for some reason, my heart steadily thumped the entire ride up.
I had no clue what I was getting ready to walk into.
Han’some was a wild card on a normal day, so knowing he was going through something meant I had to be on guard.
I sucked in a sharp breath when the elevator doors opened, and blue LED light spilled into everything. Drake was playing lowly from his surround system, so except for the bass, nothing else moved. I searched the living room and balcony before I headed toward the back of the condo to his bedroom.
Surprisingly, his room, bathroom, and closet were also empty.
My steps were slow as I made my way toward his in-home studio.
It was also abandoned, leaving one room left to check before declaring that he wasn’t even here, but Judea had told Alyashia that they dropped him off at the condo, and he was alone.
I walked toward Nyari’s room to find it cracked open a little.
From the little bit of light in the room, I was able to make out Han’some’s bulky frame.
He sat on the floor beside her bed, tilting a bottle of cognac in the air to take shots.
I could already feel the heaviness surrounding him from my hidden place in the hallway.
Even still, I braced myself before pushing the door open.
At first, he didn’t notice I was in the room with him.
I was able to get close enough to see the pen and notepad resting on his lap.
He was writing in between his sips of liquor, completely oblivious to the world around him.
Seeing him in his daughter’s room really pulled at my heartstrings.
I knew that meant whatever happened tonight had to do with her.
Without saying a word, I took a seat on the floor beside him to lean against the bed.
Feeling my arm brush against his, he slowly lifted his head to find my eyes. I swear, I saw relief flash in them when my face registered in his mind. I tucked my bottom lip and remained silently beside him.
“You came,” he whispered hoarsely. For some reason, he palmed my face with a small tilt of his head. Goosebumps flared all over my skin, and breathing became difficult to do as my chest tightened. “That wishing well in the lobby really works,” he mumbled more to himself than me.
“Are you okay?” I wondered, gently bumping my shoulder into his.
He glanced down at me with a troubled expression that said everything his mouth didn’t need to.
“I just want to hold you. I don’t want to talk.
” I froze in place because that was the last thing I expected him to say.
I also wasn’t sure how to respond to his declaration. “Please? Can I hold you, Koi?”
My ability to speak fled from me, and he was so impatient that he decided to take matters into his own hands.
He leaned over so his upper body rested on my lap while his long arms extended around me, pinning me in place.
I wanted to tell him this wasn’t okay . .
. I wanted to push him off me, but as I stared down at his handsome face, I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
His eyes drifted closed, and he was fast asleep within minutes.
I could tell by how his breathing slowed, and he snuggled deeper into me.
For a while, I could only watch him. When he was asleep, he looked at peace.
Like, for a little while, he had no worries or concerns.
I wanted more of that for him, but his life came with its own difficulties, which were out of my control.
Unable to stop myself, I lifted a finger to play with his thick eyebrows.
I liked the way each strand popped back into place after I ran my finger through them.
My fingers then traveled up to his ear that I massaged absentmindedly to pass the time.
Once I realized what I was doing, I tried to move, but he tightened his grip around me, refusing to give me even an inch of wiggle room.
“Don’t leave me,” he begged in the softest voice. “Stay . . .”
And that plea was all it took to make me remain seated right there in his daughter’s room while he snored softly in my lap. His head rested on my belly like it was softest pillow on Earth. Since he was knocked out, I decided to go see exactly what happened tonight.
Honestly, it wasn’t hard to find. The last three posts on the All That Buzz page were about what happened between Han’some and Fontana.
There were clips of her live, along with screenshots of the things he’d commented on the live.
Everyone had their opinion about the situation, and I hated Fontana for bringing their personal issues to the internet.
The last thing he needed was to be subjected to so much judgment about a matter no one else deserved to have a say in.
Glancing down at him, I couldn’t swallow my empathy for him.
I knew he was trying, and honestly, I was a little bothered by the way Tana sat up on her live, yelling for their daughter to go to bed instead of going to tuck her in.
I found myself on Han’some’s page next to see he’d uploaded some stories.
I clicked on the colorful circle, and his handsome face appeared on the screen.
He was in the back of a black truck, rapping along to a song.
I had to rewind the story, not because of the lyrics, but because of the obvious pain in his voice and eyes.
My heart literally cracked open as I watched a man trying to figure it out while the world set expectations for him—expectations that he wasn’t always able to live up to.
Even still, I didn’t feel like he should be judged and kicked while he was down.
What he needed was support and to know that things would get better.
But when it felt like everyone in his life was against him, where was he supposed to find peace?
