Chapter 9 I Drank Too Much
Almost at the same time, my coworker Da Liu's rough voice came from behind me.
"Qin Ye, did you fucking fall in the toilet?
"Hurry up, it's your turn to drink. Don't even think about skipping."
"Coming."
I answered with a hoarse voice and quickly crushed out the cigarette in my hand.
I turned and limped back in.
"What's the rush? Can't even take a piss in peace."
I sat back down on the plastic stool, grabbed whoever's cup was on the table, and tipped my head back for a big gulp.
That night, I drank a lot, for the first time in a long while.
When it broke up, my head was already heavy.
I still forced myself to stay sharp and put everyone into taxis.
Only when I was the last one left did the smile on my face drop all at once.
The night wind hit. My stomach churned.
I held onto a street tree and dry-heaved a few times. Nothing came out.
My head was badly fogged, like it had been stuffed with a wad of soaked cotton.
I thought about catching a cab, then worried I'd throw up in it.
Forget it. My place wasn't far. I'd walk.
I shook my heavy head and limped forward.
