Chapter 10 Get In
After about ten-odd minutes of walking, I turned into a relatively quiet side road.
The streetlights were darker here. Almost no pedestrians.
Only cars roaring past.
Just as I was wondering whether I should sit on the edge of a roadside flower bed to rest, a luxury car slowly stopped beside me.
I thought I was blocking someone, so I instinctively moved inward.
But the car didn't leave. It followed me, creeping forward.
While I was still confused, the rear window lowered without a sound.
Ji Yanli's face appeared, almost expressionless, his features sharp in the dark.
Across that short distance, our eyes collided.
Then I heard him speak, his voice low.
"Get in."
Two words, short and stiff.
