Chapter 35 Missed Calls
Ji Yanli didn't say anything else. He got off the bed on his own.
The silk robe followed his movement and outlined a straight back.
He walked toward the ensuite bathroom, shut the door, and soon the sound of running water came from inside.
I stayed frozen until the water kept going, then snapped back.
My phone. Where was my phone?
I looked around in a panic and finally saw it on the nightstand.
Under it were the wrinkled clothes I had been changed out of.
This Ji Yanli. He was thorough about things now.
I snatched the phone and lit the screen.
Sure enough, more than ten missed calls sat right there.
Most were from Tang Xiaomang, with a few from Lao Zhang mixed in.
My heart dropped. Tang Xiaomang had to be losing it.
I called back at once. The phone was picked up almost the second it rang.
"Qin Ye."
Tang Xiaomang's voice came through, with a sob and anxiety in it.
"Where did you go? I got off work, came back, couldn't find you, called you and you didn't pick up. You scared me to death.
"Are you okay? Did that person come after you again? Where are you now?"
His questions smashed over me one after another.
Guilt hit me.
"I'm fine.
"I... I'm at a friend's."
He let out a breath, sounding like he believed I was really at a friend's. "Then remember to come back early."
"Alright. I know. Take care of yourself. I'll catch up a bit and come back."
I hung up before he could press further.
I looked up, and my heart jumped hard.
