Chapter 36 Your Taste
I didn't know when Ji Yanli had already been standing at the bathroom door, wiping his wet hair with a dry white towel.
He had changed into a comfortable dark set of house clothes. He looked clean and lazy.
But those eyes landed on me, sharp.
"Tang Xiaomang's call?
"Half a day apart, and you miss him that much?"
"Is that any of your business?"
Ji Yanli tossed the towel over the back of a chair and walked slowly toward the bed.
He carried the damp air of a fresh shower and a faint scent of body wash, mixed with that cold scent that was his. It pressed down hard.
"I'm just curious."
He stopped at the bedside and looked down at me from above.
"You can get interested in that kind of wet-behind-the-ears brat who only knows how to cry?
"Qin Ye, your taste... really is getting harder and harder to compliment."
The contempt and insult in his words weren't hidden at all. It hit a nerve.
Rage flared up with a rush.
I shot back with nothing left to lose. "Yeah. That's exactly my type. So what?
"He's young. Clean. Obedient.
"At least he won't be like certain people, calling me disgusting.
"Won't look at a former benefactor like looking at trash.
"Really, eat from the bowl, then put it down and curse the cook!"
The words were out, and I already regretted them.
What the fuck was I even saying?
Ji Yanli's gaze sank in an instant, like ice that had suddenly frozen solid.
