Chapter 44 Dumplings and Fireworks

In a blink, Little New Year arrived.

Sparse firecracker sounds drifted in from outside, carrying a lively air.

Tang Xiaomang had specially bought meat and cabbage, and wrapped dumplings with me.

The round dumplings went down, and the taste lingered.

After we ate, Tang Xiaomang got a small handful of fireworks from somewhere and dragged me downstairs to an open spot to set them off.

Brilliant, short bursts of light exploded in the night sky, and we looked at each other and laughed.

Back inside, the cold on our bodies hadn't even faded when my phone rang.

It was an unknown number.

I hesitated, then picked up. A man's voice came through, fairly polite.

"Is this Qin Ye? Ji Yanli drank too much at 'Dusk' bar. He's making a fuss about seeing you. Please come pick him up."

He gave an address, and hung up before I could answer.

I held the phone, irritation rising in my chest.

What the hell was Ji Yanli playing at now?

Tang Xiaomang heard it from the side and said at once, "Qin Ye, I'll go with you."

He kept glancing at me, frowning.

We had no choice. We went out again.
