Chapter 45 Drunk on the Sofa

When we found the private room, I told Tang Xiaomang to wait outside and went in myself.

The mess I had expected wasn't there.

It was quiet inside.

Ji Yanli was lying on the sofa alone, his tie pulled loose. He looked pitiful.

I went up and gave him a shove. "Ji Yanli, wake up. Time to go home."

He barely reacted, just mumbled something unclear, and buried his head deeper into the crook of his arm.

I pushed a little harder, and shoved him again.

"Don't sleep here. You'll catch a chill. Get up."

This time, he moved.

He lifted his head slowly, looked at me with drunk, hazy eyes, and said, "Why am I dreaming about you again."

Something dropped in my chest.

"It's not a dream. Someone called me and told me to come get you.

"Can you walk? I'll take you back."

I didn't know if he had actually registered it.

Anyway, he was cooperative enough to use my support and stand.

But most of his weight pressed onto me.

His head tipped into the hollow of my neck, and warm breath that smelled of alcohol brushed my skin.

"Qin Ye, Qin Ye..."

He started calling my name over and over, like a broken recorder.

Then he frowned and said, "Don't... don't stay with that little boy. I won't allow it."

Here we go again.

I frowned and hauled him up.

But he kept repeating that line, stubborn as a child.

Somehow, the feeling I had been holding down got hooked up too.

I steadied him against my shoulder and, against my better sense, asked, "If I'm not with him, then who am I supposed to be with?"

"Of course... of course me. I... I like you."
