Chapter 51 He Said Let’s Go

I watched Jiang Ninghe half-hold, half-hug Tang Xiaomang away, Tang Xiaomang looking back every other step, and the corridor went quiet again.

Ji Yanli leaned against the wall, not a word.

I glared at him, annoyed.

"Coming or not?"

"If you're not, I'm leaving."

Before the words even finished, a scalding hand caught my wrist.

The force was not hard, but it carried a stubbornness that would not take no.

"Let's go."

He said it quietly, like a wilted puppy.

I let out a breath and let him hold my wrist.

When he swayed forward, I reached out and hooked an arm around his waist.

He really had drunk a lot.

I flagged a taxi, stuffed him into the back seat, and he almost immediately slumped onto my shoulder.

Eyes closed, his breathing slowly went long and even. He had actually fallen asleep.

Looking at that unguarded sleeping face, my chest was a mess of mixed feelings.

In the end I only sighed and gave the driver his apartment address.
