Chapter 52 Don’t Go
Back in that apartment again, I blanked out for a moment.
I steadied Ji Yanli as we stumbled into the bedroom and set him down on that soft, wide bed.
I had just wanted to straighten up and pour him a glass of water when my wrist was caught again.
"Don't go..."
His eyes were closed. He murmured it, like a dream with no mind behind it, but his hand used force.
I stopped and looked down at him.
Maybe the light was too intimate. Maybe the night was too quiet.
The defenseless fragility on him now pulled up something buried too deep. I did not pull free.
He opened his eyes a little. The drunken haze had not left them, and there was a deep hunger in them that looked ready to pull a person under.
Then his hand tightened and dragged me toward him.
I did not resist. I bent down with his pull.
His kiss came after.
Breath tangled, hot with liquor.
I closed my eyes and started to answer.
Clothes came off at some point, and then his scalding body covered me.
His mouth slid from my jaw to my neck, leaving wet marks.
"Qin Ye..."
He called my name again and again, voice breaking.
It carried pain and a hunger pushed to the edge, like he was checking that I was there.
I did not answer. I only sealed his mouth with a deeper kiss and pushed my fingers into his thick black hair.
All the reason, the resentment, the unwillingness, burned off in that moment under desire.
We twisted together, using our bodies to confirm the other was real.
Filling the huge hollow eight years of separation had left.
When the last moment came, he held me tight, buried his face in the hollow of my neck, and let out a sigh that was both satisfied and pained.
