Chapter 9 #2
“See, I know me and me, my nigga and the side bitch would end up booked and processed. Cause I was running down on both of them and, mink mink mink.” I lost my shit as she started swinging on the air and then jumped to the other side of the couch.
“Aht aht bitch, don’t run now. You wasn’t running from my dick.
Mink mink! Oh, he paid for that hair, hand it here! Mink mink!”
“Man, I been looking for the flaw and now I see it. Your ass is ratchet as fuck!” I cracked up.
“Call me what you want to, but you won’t call me twin, cause I ain’t laying down and just taking shit, like you!” She shot as she sat back down.
“Mocha, look at me.” I spoke causing her to stop giggling and face me.
“No, really look at me. You know how I got my name? The hood has been calling me famous Amos since I made the news as a youngin for beating three niggas that thought they were bullies, to sleep. They thought they were about to snatch my new J’s off of my feet and left barefoot on stretchers cause I snatched their shit and gave them to some junkies in my hood.
Their mamas were all on the news tryna get me arrested for that shit until my mama paid them a visit.
Eventually they shortened Famous Amos to Fame and it stuck.
I say that, to say, not even as a child did I know how to take a loss.
If I thought that Des being with the next nigga was a loss for me, some lives would be lost.” I declared but I could tell she thought I was joking.
“Boy bye.”
“Shit, think it’s a game. About your feelings you ready to get booked and processed, so you can maw it home by dinner. About mine, it’s jail with no chance of bail or hell. I’m always ready to take it the furthest. But me and Des time been up so I ain’t tripping on that.”
“Does she know that?” Mocha questioned.
“She knows. She don’t have no choice because she would have never tried me when my feelings were still invested in her.
” I explained. “That shit started dying when I realized that she was cool with this level of life. Des dreams stop at being the wifey to a kingpin and that ain’t the type of time I’m on.
The moment she took my goals as a joke, I was done. ”
“Why am I not surprised? That bitch so shallow, she makes my ass itch. Hearing that your man has plans that stretch beyond the street shit should make her proud. But question, why are y’all still seemingly intertwined?
Why not go separate ways so that y’all can find the person you’re meant to be with? ” Mocha seriously questioned.
“It takes a lot for me to let someone into my world, Mocha. Letting someone new in and trusting that there aren’t ulterior motives accompanying their presence is damn near impossible for me.
So, I opted to keep her around until something better came around.
She can go be with who she chooses to be with, now. ” I voiced.
“Oh suddenly, you’re ready to cut ties?”
“It wouldn’t matter to me, but I feel like the person that I’m about to bring into my world, wouldn’t entertain me until I fully closed that door.” Our eyes connected as she took on what I was saying.
“Fame, you are right to practice extreme caution with new people in your life. Don’t make me the exception to your rule.” That shit sounded like a warning, but I knew that it was because she was still tryna control how this played out.
“Something tells me that you are the exception to every rule, Mocha. This don’t have to be heavy, just vibe with me while I house sit for ya. I’m sure you’ll see it my way when it’s all said and done.”
“The thing that scares me the most, is that you might be right and that’s the very last thing that I want or need. Honestly, with all that you have going on, that’s the very last thing that you should want or need, Fame.” She spoke before standing to her feet and walking off.
“Damn, not you running when the conversation just started getting good.” I called out, ignoring that shit that she was talking.
“It’s because I hate wasting my breathe.
I could see it in your eyes that no matter what I said, it was going in one ear and out the other.
I can tell that you are someone that I have to show that I mean what I say, rather than tell you.
So, with that being said, I would rather spend my time preparing my meal than to talk to a wall.
Time will show you that you should take an out when one is presented to you.
Not doing so, could cost you.” She called out from the stove, not hearing me walk up behind her, until I wrapped an arm around her waist.
“Can you really blame me for ignoring that out when I already feel that you are worth any lost that may come. Besides, I was always told that you ain’t a real hustler if you can’t lose it all and get it right back.
I feel that we being dramatic thinking that I’mma lost anything by pursuing you, but imma assume you mean because of Des and what she can do if she turns bitter.
Be cool though, ain’t a soul stupid enough to cross me and that’s on my mama best wig!
