Ch. 14
GENESIS
The way a nigga couldn’t stop smiling from the sun hitting my body right now you would think it was different from the one beaming down when I had a lil’ rec time.
The air smelled different out this muthafucka, too.
Shit, I felt like I was hearing the birds for the first time.
Being locked up and on a schedule altered a nigga brain pattern or something, no cap.
Yonnis took forever and a day to get a nigga from behind them bars, but he did it.
Everything was dropped and my record was still squeaky out this bitch.
Apparently, Brat was supposed to show, and she never did.
I ain’t want to know what made her change her mind.
I was sure whatever had her hesitating was the same thing that kept me up at night.
If I missed her, I was sure her bratty ass missed me too.
It wasn’t no if ands or buts about it. I introduced that pussy to real dick. It was throwing fits aight.
A slap on my back snapped me out my lil’ trance. I was reaching for my twins realizing they had been left at Brat crib. Now wasn’t the time to be playing with me. I was in a city without my crew. My paranoia was back, and I was ready to body a nigga.
“Lil’ nigga we in front of a courthouse with plenty blues. What the hell you reaching for?” Yonnis questioned stepping around me.
“It’s a force of habit, Yonnis. You would’ve been put down by now,” I jested.
His help wasn’t wanted but his help was what got me free.
The trust we developed for one another added him to the list of people I could count on.
It wasn’t shit but a handful to begin with.
He was damn near number one on the list the way he ain’t drop the ball when it came to me and my freedom.
The court appointed lawyer I had prior walked by making me want to smack fire from his ass for getting up there playing in that lady courtroom the way he did.
I mugged his goofy the ass the entire time he walked up the steps.
“Let him be. Adele should’ve been here by now to scoop yo’ ass. Senior want you to come by the compound. What you doing?”
“He ain’t a priority so whenever I feel like dealing with him, I’ll deal with him,” I answered.
“When is that, Genesis? I got to tell him something.”
“Never. I already told his bitch ass to leave me the fuck alone one time. I ain’t gon’ keep saying it. Fuck him and everybody else over there. I ‘preciate you doing what you do best, but I’m sure I won’t need you again, and if I do… shit, come through.” I saluted him and took off to my whip.
Adele had sense to scoop me in my shit. I knew my baby Ruby from anywhere.
She was straight factory with a lil’ tint.
I loved everything ‘bout her pretty ass. Hopping in the driver’s seat, I sped off into traffic heading for the Peaks.
My time in the Springs was done until I was ready to go back for my bread.
Once we hit the highway, I blasted a local artist by the name Kvng Qwan.
All it took was a minute for me to get in my zone, and I was playing in traffic like it was my personal racetrack.
You better believe I was out of there not giving a fuck what came next.
I was off and out like Yonnis promised. It wasn’t shit else to talk about.
Adele turned down the radio to speak and I turned that hoe right back up.
She was the last muthafucka I wanted to hear anything from.
She ain’t have shit to spew but lies and I quite frankly was tired of hearing them.
All she had to do was shut the fuck up while she had a ride back to the crib.
She was gon’ find herself on the side of the highway otherwise.
My music was turned down once more which caused instant annoyance. “Aye, this ain’t the time to get on my nerves, Adele.”
“I’m trying to have a conversation with your ungrateful ass. Ain’t no eyes or ears on us so tell me what the hell happened for real, Black,” she uttered.
“Stop talking to me lady before I tell you something. I’m sparing you right now,” I said delivering her a hell of a mug.
“You so fuckin’ disrespectful. You’re everything Senior and that’s some sad ass shit for real.” She was trying to get me upset for real, but I had too much ammo to unload. My clip been ready since Senior opened his mouth giving a nigga an earful. Adele had a lot of explaining to do.
“Aye, who the fuck is Sophie?” I inquired. I figured I’d start light to see where the hell she take it.
“W-What? How am I supposed to know? Who you been talking to, Black?” Adele couldn’t even hold a straight face. Everything in her eyes screamed suspicion. The snake was trying to hide but wasn’t no grass for her to do so. That shit been cut.
“You might want to answer me. I’m almost at that point,” I warned her.
“She was a friend. We’re no longer cool so there’s that. The hell you so interested in the bitch for?”
I swear you got to be liar’s loyalist customer. He handing you them bitches left and right and you giving them out for the free ain’t it.
Tuh. You couldn’t pay her to tell the truth and that was a fact. I would’ve thought a muthafucka had enough respect to claim the dead. I mean damn. What the fuck could a nigga do to you from claiming yo’ fuckin’ kin?
“Damn Aunt Sophie, what kind of lying ass sister did you get stuck with? I know you glad to be from ‘round her conniving ass,” I voiced aloud.
“Who told you that, Black? Did Senior come and see you? Who told you that was my sister?” Questions went unanswered simply because none of mine were getting the answers they deserved.
“Aight. Answer this then. Did you rape Senior that night?”
“We shared something real. The fuck I look like raping a nigga. He came on to me that night, and we made you. Sophie had some nerve trying to keep me away from him. I was welcome just like they were!” she screamed.
Delusion and obsession knew no bounds.
“If you don’t stop doing all that hollerin’ in my car…” I chimed shooting yet another glare her way.
“Why would you let him tell you all those lies? He left us and never gave a fuck about where we ended up. He chose them over us!” She was still doing all that hootin’ and hollerin’ in my car like I ain’t just tell her something.
“You raped that nigga, Adele. You ain’t fooling no-fuckin’-body.
You took advantage of a muthafucka that was drunk out his mind and had the nerve to record the bullshit.
You a bold one, ain’t you? Why you keep me knowing you did what you did?
Why you give that man an ultimatum like he was gon’ choose yo’ trifling ass over his fuckin’ family he already had?
You need to let that fuckin’ obsession with Senior go before he send them boys to lock yo’ goofy ass up,” I ranted.
I was disgusted with my mama. I couldn’t lie.
I ain’t never been down bad behind a soul so seeing her cut up like this let me know I was my father’s son a hunnid percent.
I hated to admit that shit, but it wasn’t an ounce of crazy in my body.
This muthafucka couldn’t think straight when it came to Senior.
“He just keeps on lying and you just believed him. I’m the one—”
I cut her off before she could lie again. I was over her ass. “That blew through a hunnid bands in the blink of an eye, right? I mean damn. Did I get a pair of shoes out the shit before you fucked up the check?”
“Genesis, he paid me to leave as if being a father to you could wait. You’re his son and still he’s done nothing for you. That bitch Iris is who he wanted to please. She—”
I interrupted for the umpteenth time. I wasn’t ‘bout to let her turn the narrative around to fit her. I was throwing everything Senior and Castina let fly in her direction.
“She’s his wife, Adele. What the fuck you expected him to do?
Is a nigga fucked up behind her asking him to get rid of me?
Hell yeah, but a nigga here now so it is what it is.
You though… you wasn’t shit but a hoe that was so fuckin’ desperate she raped a nigga to have a lifetime attachment.
Boy, I’m ‘bout ready to get you up out my shit, fa real. Why everybody got the same story but you, huh? Aunt Castina lying, too?”
I figured I’d throw her in the mix since she wanted to be in it when I met Senior.
Hell, if it was more than one person screaming the same thing, I was bound to believe something.
My mama was my mama but damn at what lengths did you go just to have a piece of a nigga.
A married nigga at that. I done seen some sheisty bitches, but Adele topped the fuckin’ cake.
I couldn’t believe how hard she was going right now.
“That bitch ain’t yo’ aunt. Fuck her, fuck Iris, and fuck Sophie. All them bitches knew what it was between me and Senior and still played stupid. You should’ve saw the way he looked at me or called my name. That wasn’t delusion,” she claimed staring into space.
Out of all them fucks, not once did you say fuck yo’ baby daddy. You a clown, Adele. You need a fuckin’ padded room ASAP!
“Adele, you the only one going crazy behind that nigga. You did some dirty shit and now I’m being hit with the aftermath. He said he was coming to get me when I turned of age, and you kept moving before he could. Why?”
She went quiet not saying another word. Oh, that put the lies at ease right there.
Adele knew she was full of shit, but it was cool.
I had something up my sleeve for her ass.
She wasn’t the only one that could keep a secret.
I ain’t let what Senior said slip. My supposed grandma left me something in her will and in due time, I planned on taking that drive to claim what was mine.
