Caller: Yes, er, hi, I’m Suzanne.

Caller: Well, right, yeah, so, I was with my ex for nearly three years and he dumped me out of the blue, a few weeks ago, right.
Liv: Uh-huh, and what reason did he give?
Caller: So, he, yeah, he just said, like, that he didn’t really love me anymore and he wanted something more.
Liv: How awful, Suzanne, I’m so sorry that happened to you.
Caller: Thanks, yeah, so that was three weeks ago, and I’ve been, like, a mess ever since.
Liv: Understandably!
Caller: Right? So, I’m staying at my mum and dad’s and I get a message on Snapchat from him last night, saying that he, like, misses me—
Liv: On Snapchat?
Caller: Yeah. He likes Snapchat.
Liv: How old is he, can I ask?
Caller: Forty-eight.
Liv: [mutters something inaudible under her breath]
Caller: Anyway, right, he says he really misses me and wants to get back together.
I still love him and I don’t know what to do.
I’m such a wreck, like, I’m all over the place.
My mum keeps bringing me Pot Noodles, which usually snap me right out of anything, but, yeah, nothing’s working, not even the Noods.
Liv: Oh Suzanne, this is so awful and I totally understand.
But you need to take a breath and find some inner calm, if you can.
We make rash decisions in moments like this and almost always regret them later.
You need to keep a cool head and consider this objectively.
Try and picture yourself six months from now.
If you’re back with him, can you see yourself being happy?
Can you see yourself having let go of this betrayal?
Can you see yourself trusting him when he says he loves you, after he did this to you so suddenly?
[long pause] Suzanne, wouldn’t you rather find a way to adjust to his absence, than adjust to a future full of uncertainty and fear?
Caller: [long pause] I think you’re right.
Liv: Also the Snapchat thing is such an orange flag. Yuck. I bet he never went down on you either, did he?
Caller: He said his exes never liked it, so he doesn’t do it.
Liv: I think we have our answer. You remember my motto, right, Suzanne? He should show up and go down.
