37. Epilogue
Epilogue
Glenda
A couple weeks had gone by. Things were as normal as they could be at the clubhouse, but we still had members at the house at all times.
But something about Leigh and I staying at our place made Bama finally realize it was time to go back to their house, too. The clubhouse had adjusted to having a kid around, but still, it was no place for her to live.
She needed her yard with her swing set. I was certain she would spend a lot of time at the clubhouse again once the pool opened back up, but for now, she needed normalcy and I was glad that they went home.
We all still spent a good deal of time at the clubhouse, though.
The guys had been patrolling a lot and Leigh preferred I stayed at the clubhouse when he wasn’t home.
I knew he trusted his brothers with me, so I believed it was him being overprotective.
Especially after what happened with me and Linny, then the fact Allie and I decided to go against Hammer and ran into a building full of Scorpions.
He had his hand full with me, for sure. But Hammer did finally let me go to the Church room and pay my respects to Ollie.
With all the commotion, and my state of mind for a while there, I hadn’t asked– but when I was ready, he took me and Leigh and let me have a few moments with the urn.
It was sad, and hard, but it gave me an extra sense of closure to say goodbye.
Therapy was going well. I hadn’t had any more episodes, but I knew I wasn’t done. It was hard to talk about some stuff because even though there was client privilege, some illegal things didn’t apply.
Leigh still drove me everywhere, but I rode on his bike. Dr. Stanley was happy with my progress but agreed we should give it a little more time before I drove or rode by myself.
It was nice to get out of the cage, though.
I loved riding with him. I loved my bike, too, and hopefully soon I could take her for a ride.
But there was something intimate about riding with Leigh.
There was a trust between us both. And having wind therapy together was just another part of our connection.
He’d taken me to therapy on the bike, then we rode over to the clubhouse. He’d asked me to see if the doctor could see me later in the day because of his work schedule, and she was fine with that. We had to go back to the clubhouse, though, because he was going out with the guys again.
We went inside, and it was a full house. “Dang. It’s not even a weekend.” Then I panicked. “Wait, is there something going down tonight? I thought you were just patrolling?”
“No, it’s cool. But wait here. I gotta talk to Hammer.”
Trying to not spiral, I went to the bar as he walked off. “Hey love,” I said to Linny.
“Hey, how was the doc?” she asked.
Pinkie held up a bottle with a grin.
“Sure, thanks. It was good.” I took the beer and looked around. “Why is it so packed?”
“Is it packed?” Allie said from behind me.
My brow pinched as I turned. She shrugged and took a beer from Pinkie.
I had just been there earlier in the day but now everyone was acting weird. Sipping my beer and looking around, I felt like everyone was watching me.
Allie snapped her fingers in my face. “Hey, you good?”
“Yeah. But am I losing it? Is everyone watching me?”
Allie’s lips curled in. “Hmm. They’re probably looking at me. I wouldn’t worry about it.”
I was relieved when I saw Leigh come in from the back door that led down to the offices.
He walked over so I turned around on my stool. “Thank God. The vibe is off in here. Are you sure I can’t go back to the house? There’s guys there.”
He grinned, his hands behind his back.
I tried to look behind him but he moved. I put my beer on the bar and turned back around. “What the hell is wrong with you now? Seriously, I know I’ve got shit going on upstairs, but I’m not imagining this.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. I’m sorry. I’m not trying to make you paranoid. But I wanna ask you something.”
My eyes darted around, and now everyone was for sure watching me. But when Leigh held up the leather, I knew.
Tears filled my eyes and my hands went to my mouth.
“Glenda, in front of all my brothers, I’m asking if you’ll be my Old Lady?”
The cut already had a patch on it that said Property of Leigh.
I nodded, but Linny pushed me. “Hey, you yelled at me. Is that a yes or what?”
“Yes! Shit.” I swiped my cheeks with my hands then jumped from the stool into Leigh’s arms.
He lifted me off the ground and swung me around as everyone cheered, whistled, and clapped.
He put me down then held the vest up. The front had my name on it. I threaded my arms in and then grabbed it, looking down at my name.
My friends all huddled around me, and we swayed together as we all cried. Even Allie had a tear roll down her cheek.
Someone tapped my shoulder so I looked back and said, “Oh shit.”
Hammer looked at me sternly. “Don’t you be setting that on fire.”
“I would never,” I said, grinning.
He opened his arms, so I leaned in and he gave me a good bear hug. “Congrats, Glenda. You deserve it.”
“Thanks, Hammer. And I promise, I won’t set this one on fire. I won’t have to.”
He pulled away. “You damn right. I’ll take him out myself if he fucks this up.” He winked then walked away.
Leigh came closer and grabbed the leather, pulling me to him. “I also got this,” he said, handing me something.
Looking down, it was a small black box. “Holy shit.”
“What? The cut is more important to me. But I want to tie you to me however I can.”
Opening it, there was a ring with a platinum band and a solitaire round diamond.
“So, will you marry me?”
“Leigh,” I gasped. “Of course I will,” I said as I pulled him down for a kiss.
More cheers erupted around us.
He hugged me, then whispered in my ear. “Also, take out the fucking IUD.”
Giggling, I nodded. “If you’re sure.”
He pulled back. “Woman, I know you’re stubborn, but get it through that thick skull that I want everything with you.”
Wiping another tear away, I whispered, “I love you so much.”
“I love you, Glenda. And I’m gonna make sure you have everything you want, and everything you deserve whether you think so or not.”
