Chapter 11 Our Lively Daughter
Ever since Daiyu was born, our Lin household was almost like in a state of war.
Everything in the house that could hurt her was put away. Even every table corner was wrapped with soft cloth to avoid bumps.
Moreover, I specially selected four maids who were four or five years older than her to accompany her.
Just treat them as Daiyu's sisters and friends. This was for fear that she would be bored alone.
Anyway, I was currently favored by The Emperor, so I could afford this bit of silver.
However, Daiyu was not quite what I had expected.
She turned out to be a lively and charming girl. Ever since she learned to walk, she loved going out.
Whether it was temple fairs or restaurants, this child loved to go.
She feared no one at home except her mother. Her cool little face when causing trouble was like a little white cat extending its claws.
Either making a big fuss in the kitchen or releasing all the birds raised in the garden.
I did not have anyone manage her. As long as she was happy, anything was fine.
Every time Jia Min was driven to the point by this little white cat, she would pick up a small wooden stick and make her stand as punishment.
Daiyu would stand for a while then cover her heart and say she was dizzy.
"Why are you covering your heart if you are dizzy?"
Daiyu then reacted, hurriedly looking at me.
"Father."
I was about to plead for her when Jia Min shot me a glare.
I spread my hands, indicating that father was powerless.
"Good mother, please spare Daiyu this time. I will not dare again."
After saying this, Daiyu would take out flowers or grass from her small pouch that she got from somewhere and hold them up to Jia Min like treasures.
"Please accept this, mother."
Every time Jia Min saw Daiyu like this, she lost her temper at once and reached out to rub this little bundle into her arms.
"You, when I was pregnant with you, your father was still worried you would be delicate."
"Who would have thought you turned out to be a little monkey."
Daiyu stuck out her tongue and leaned on Jia Min's shoulder.
"I am delicate, more pampered than anyone. If mother punishes me again, I will cry to death."
Upon hearing this, I rarely gave her a cold face.
"Do not say this again in the future."
Jia Min and Daiyu were both stunned. I was always gentle; when had I ever spoken so harshly?
"Did you hear?"
Daiyu nodded timidly, "Mm, I will not say it again. Father, do not be angry."
I took Daiyu's hand and tapped her forehead.
"Father is not angry. Father hopes you are safe and sound, without illness or disaster, and never unhappy in this life."
Daiyu stared with big eyes, nodding as if she understood but not quite.
"Okay, Daiyu understands."
