Chapter 10 Naming Our Child

In the blink of an eye, eight months passed. This pregnancy of Jia Min was more stable than I imagined.

On the day of delivery, the flowers outside that had not bloomed for years suddenly all bloomed at once. Morning clouds hung over the roof, scattering colorful light.

I paced anxiously outside, only hearing a loud cry from inside.

The midwife announced loudly, "It is born! It is a daughter!"

Jia Mu, upon hearing this, her eyebrows were not eyebrows and eyes were not eyes.

But I happily clapped my hands repeatedly and rushed into the room. The first thing I saw was the freshly washed little bundle lying beside Jia Min.

The little bundle was truly as translucent as jade, but there was an unresolvable sorrow between her brows, like ink smudged on her forehead.

I gently picked up the child and touched her forehead with my hand.

"Ruhai, does the child look good?"

"Good looking, like you. A proper beauty."

I nodded, tears swirling in my eyes.

"Give her a name."

Jia Min was weak but smiled happily.

"Daiyu. Does it sound good?"

As soon as I said it, Daiyu in my arms smiled.

The doll carved from powder and jade, her smile was more beautiful than in paintings. That unresolvable sorrow was dispersed by this smile and could not be seen for a moment.

"Lin, Dai, Yu."

Jia Min tilted her head slightly while holding a handkerchief, then lowered her eyes and chuckled softly.

"Nice. Daiyu, you must grow up safe and sound from now on."

Of course. I held Jia Min's hand. This time, I would never let Daiyu live under someone else's roof or wither away.

I, Lin Ruhai, would make sure she lives a peaceful and smooth life, with everything going her way.
