Story #4
“Too far! Because you didn’t screw her on a bed you think that matters! When she climbed on you why not push her off! Why bring your funky ass over to my place the next morning, fuck me and pretend like you did not cheat the night before!!
That’s why you’ve been up my ass extra hard lately! Why Golden was being shady at your family’s house! Everyone knew but me! You made a fool of me but claim to love me!” I was letting it all out because everything started aligning.
“I ain’t tell nobody about that shit! Swear to God I didn’t! If Golden knows it’s because that bitch told him! Boo, I am begging you please, I apologize.” He came towards me.
I took a few steps back, “I wish the hell you would touch me. You bet not---”
Halo didn’t care what I said, he still came towards me and I started hitting him. Even though one of his hands could break my face. I did not care. I hated him now. I assumed he’d defend himself and hit back. But he just yelled for me to stop, I kept the blows coming.
His face and chest were taking so many hits. Halo couldn’t get hold of my arms or wrist because I was dodging them and kept hitting. I called him by every name and kept telling him that I hated him.
Finally, he grabbed one wrist then the other one. Halo pinned them above my head against the wall. I had never had that much adrenaline and fury run through my body before. I even tried to bite him when he got in my face.
Speaking of face, Halo had a few scratches on his and on his neck. His shirt was ripped bad down the middle too.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Stop and just listen to me.” He pleaded.
I could hear my heart beating fast, my breathing was rapid and I was even sweating. Halo was trying to get me to look at him, but I kept turning my head left to right every time he got in my face. His forehead pressed against mine and I couldn’t move anymore. Tears dropped from my eyes.
“Let me go Halo so I can leave. I do not want you anymore.”
He pressed harder in my face and his grip on my wrist tightened. Then his tears started falling as well. “No Story. Please don’t leave me, I’ll do anything. Swear I will, you can’t leave me.”
“How could you do me like that. How could you cheat on me and continue like nothing happened.”
I started crying badly and so did he. Halo kept apologizing, telling me how it meant nothing and he did not give a damn about Dallas. Then he went on begging me not to leave. How he loved me so much and would stop breathing if I left.
When he kissed me, I should have bitten his tongue. But I didn’t, in fact I surrendered myself to him. It was salty from our tears, and my legs went around his waist. There were no more words said from either of us.
Before I knew it, we were naked in his bed, and he was inside of me. He found his words again and kept apologizing in my ear. The begging returned and I tuned it out. My body may have been in the present, but my mind wasn’t.
It was over between Halo and me. I no longer trusted him and hated his damn guts for what he did. We had three wild rounds of sex and fell asleep. Or at least he did, I lay there until eight in the morning.
I eased out of his bed and put my pajamas on. I grabbed my phone, my overnight bag and my car keys were on his hook. Thank God I drove over here so I did not have to call an Uber.
“Hello.” Siren answered in her morning voice when I called her.
“Get up, I need to pick you up and have you ride with me. Halo had sex with Dallas.”
“WHAT! When and where! I’m getting up now!” Siren reacted the way I knew she would.
I could hear Blake in the background trying to see what happened too. I thought everyone, minus me and Siren, knew about it. But Blake’s reaction was not someone who did. Still, I did not care, I had my mind made up on what I wanted to do.
“I’ll tell you later just be ready I’m a few minutes away.” I instructed her then hung up.
This was my first out of body experience, but I refused to stop.
I looked up Lazy Daze online to see that it opened at 9:00 a.m. Good timing for me, with the distance from my place.
When I arrived home, Siren was outside in her bonnet, pajama pants, and an oversize t-shirt.
She got in my car as soon as I stopped. Blake opened the door trying to put her jeans on but was too slow.
“It’s fine, she’s trying to get us to listen to reason but screw that. What happened?” Siren questioned.
I went on to tell her everything from last night to this morning. She was cussing and calling Halo all kinds of dirty dick names.
“Where are we going?”
“To Lazy Daze. They open in a few minutes.” I answered.
Siren was so hyped up and ready, I was too fueled on fury to even say anything else. I arrived at the dispensary and there were two other cars and a white van parked in front. I know it wasn’t Dallas’s because it was a Nissan Sentra, an old one at that.
The other car was a Camry. She does not look like the type to drive that. I turned my car off and waited, a few minutes later a silver Genesis drove up. It parked in front of the van, Dallas got out of the driver’s side and Aspen exited the passenger.
I opened my door when Dallas got on the sidewalk and Siren followed. There was nothing left to say, when I got close enough, I picked up speed.
“Dallas.” As soon as she turned around when I called her name, I hit her in the face.
From then on, we started fighting. I have been in two fights in my life, when I was ten and when I was fourteen. This one took the win and not because I was winning. But because of the principle.
Not because of Halo but because Dallas knew about me and played in my face.
I kept replaying her approach in the mall in my head.
I knew there was a hidden agenda in what she said.
Her facial expression and phony innocence were a smack in my face.
I did not know how long I was hitting her, but I had hold of that hair and wasn’t letting go.
“Got damn girl! You got her enough, let go!”
I don’t know whose voice that was, but they had me in the air. I saw Siren in the air as well with her bonnet off. It was an older white man holding her, Aspen was on the ground. Dallas’s face was bleeding and she was next to Aspen.
“YOU CAN KEEP HIM BY THE WAY! THE NIGGA IS ALL YOURS BUT JUST KNOW YOU’LL NEVER PLAY IN MY FACE AND GET AWAY WITH IT! NASTY ASS BITCH!” My voice got louder than it ever had before.
“Hey! Come on now settle down, I have a daughter your age. I can tell you come from a good family with support. Do not ever let anybody, especially a man get you out of character. That girl messed around with your boyfriend, so you mad.
I get it, to be young and hot headed. But never let emotions make you ruin your life because of a split decision. You and your friend go ahead and head home. Call it a win and put this behind you.” The man who had me in the air preached to me.
He was an older black man who seemed to care even though he did not know me. He opened the door for me to get in my car. The white man that had Siren opened the door for her too. We both got in and I drove off.
I gave Siren a big hug when I dropped her off and thanked her so much for having my back. We met almost four months ago, and she quickly became a very important friend.
“Want me to come over?” She asked when she opened my car door.
“Not right now, I’m about to go over my sister’s house. Love you, I’ll text you later.”
Siren said goodbye then closed the door. I drove to Regan’s house in silence and in a hurry. Only thing on my mind was not getting into an accident and not getting pulled over for speeding. I did not need any more problems today, for the rest of the year if I had it my way.
I knocked on the door to Regan’s house. It never even crossed my mind that I had a key.
That’s how I knew I wasn’t thinking so clearly.
Regan unlocked the door and tied her robe.
As soon as she let me inside, I hugged her and broke down crying.
Regan closed the door, locked it, and asked me what happened.
