December 2022 Three months later
“I feel like we’re forgetting something.” I said to Story.
“Halo, babe, for the tenth time. We have everything if we pack anything else then we will be moving in the hospital.” She gave me a hug and I hugged her back.
Her C-section was scheduled for today and everyone was at our house ready to leave. Her parents, Jesse and Pixie were here from Arizona. I think they are going to move here to Michigan. Jesse wanted to go to Michigan State University when he graduated.
Pixie wanted to get into doing hair like her sisters.
Shawn and Daisy kept talking about not wanting to miss much of their first grandchild.
And with Regan being three months pregnant now, I think they are about to move to Michigan.
Story and Regan wanted them too and I lowkey did too because it made my boo happy.
“You right, we do have everything. You ready?” I asked her and rubbed her shoulders.
“More than ever.”
Everyone left my house and got into their own cars. I drove me and Story, her parents, Jesse, and Pixie rode together. Brian and Regan were in their car. My brothers drove. Thaddeus and Imani were riding along. Blake was with her girl, Hendrix and Karter.
When Story told me about their, whatever the hell they call it. I was dumbfounded, never in my life had I heard of such an arrangement but if that’s how they want to live their life. What I liked was Hendrix and Karter came off as typical niggas when they were around us.
Their lifestyle wasn’t one that made me or my brothers uncomfortable at all. We knew they were together without them being loud about it. Story wanted to know if I was cool with him being the God father to our son.
For me, Hendrix was a good man. He had heart, worked hard, even though it was selling drugs. He would strap up and ride for Story and he was responsible. Him and Siren were good God parents. For me, rather someone was straight or not, I cared about my child’s innocence.
No one and I mean no one was going to expose their innocence.
Dangling titties in his face just because he was a boy was just as wrong as dangling anything gay in his face.
Because of what happened to me, I was not about to mess around when it came to my son.
I’ll gladly torture anyone who dared harm him.
“Mama, can you get me some more ice chips.” Story asked her mama.
I would have got them, but she had me massaging her lower back.
We were at the hospital and checked in. There was an emergency in Story’s scheduled operating room, so her C-Section was pushed back an hour.
Her contractions were starting and getting more intense.
They had me, Story, and her parents in a private room.
The rest of our family were in the waiting room.
“You are doing good boo. We’ll be meeting our son soon.” I kissed her shoulder and kept pressing on her lower back.
“Okay. Just make sure you stay with me.” Her voice was soft and she was so afraid.
“I’m not going anywhere.” I assured her.
Her mama came and fed her some ice chips, and we kept doing all we could until the hour was up. Thank God it went fast and they were ready for us. I had to put on hospital scrubs, a mask and shoe covers. Once I was ready, I was escorted into the room where Story was.
They had her prepped and ready, I sat on the stool next to her and held her hand. The next forty-five minutes were life changing for me and Story. Our son’s cry was like music, I was able to cut the umbilical cord.
“He got a head full of black hair boo.” I told Story as I watched him with tears in my eyes. I bent down, pulled my mask down and kissed her lips. Then I wiped the tears from the sides of her eyes.
“I can’t wait to see him.” She told me.
“You gone fall in love, he’s perfect.” I let her know.
The doctor stitched Story up while the nurse spoke.
“Eight pounds and six ounces baby boy. Very healthy with a good set of lungs.”
Me and Story were thrilled to hear that. She was stitched and ready to be rolled into the next room where they were washing Prince’s hair. I texted my brothers and told them that he was here and healthy. Story was able to have her bed adjusted so she could sit up some.
The nurse came over with Prince in her arms. He was in a tight blue blanket with a blue hat on his head. I took my phone out when Story held him so I could take pictures and record a video. They were perfect, I couldn’t have been blessed with better.
“Your turn babe.” Story told me.
I put my phone down and held my son for the first time. He had brown skin with big lips like his mama. His hair was so long that it came out the sides of the hat. His eyes were closed and I just looked at him.
“I’m your daddy lil man and we are going to be so close. There will never be anything you can’t talk to me about. It doesn’t matter the day or time, I will stop anything I’m doing for you.” I kissed her round jaw.
Prince moved a little and his eyes opened slowly. I damn near bawled when I saw he had the same eye colors as me and my brothers. I showed Story and she smiled big. Then he smiled and that deep one dimple on his right cheek appeared. Story did not hold back. She cried tears of joy.
We were escorted back to our room and now able to have our family meet our son. My brothers congratulated me and saw their nephew’s unique eyes. The day was one I will never forget. To think that I never saw my life headed in this direction.
But I guess God had his own plan for me. This may have been the end of me and Story’s story, but this was the start of our new life together. Now that our son was here, we had a wedding to plan, and it was going to be one of the best.
I’ma need y’all to sit tight because we ain’t done yet. My big brother Golden’s story is up next and my bro ain’t about to hold back. I’ll holla at y’all soon. Peace.
