Chapter 7 #2

He cocks his head as he watches me. It’s true; I couldn’t stop thinking about him all afternoon.

I lick my lips to get some of the sauce off my mouth, and his eyes track the movement.

I shift nervously, causing my robe to slip from my shoulder and gape open enough for him to get a peek of my nightgown.

His gaze drops to my chest just as I grab the robe and pull it back over my shoulder.

He clears his throat and forces himself to look away, and just like that, the spell is broken.

We finish eating then head into the kitchen to clean up.

As I’m loading the last of our dishes into the dishwasher, he leans back against the counter and folds his arms across his chest. “I want you to take as much time off as you need. To focus on your mom and on taking care of yourself. Your job isn’t going anywhere, and you’ll be paid family medical leave until you return. ”

Tears sting my eyes, but I fight them off. The man truly is a saint. “Thank you, Aaden, that means the world to me.”

He stares at me, and the room crackles, heating around us.

The pull I feel toward him is like nothing I’ve ever felt before.

My heart thunders in my chest as he reaches up and brushes a knuckle against my cheek.

The moment he touches me, my body ignites like a lightning bolt making its way through my system.

I stare into his eyes and hold my breath.

His chest rises and falls heavily as he straightens and moves closer to me.

I practically vibrate in anticipation. He runs his thumb across my bottom lip, causing a jolt of heat to shoot through me.

He watches me like he’s looking for any sign of hesitation.

When I don’t move away, he cups my cheeks, tilts my head back, and takes my mouth in a soft, sweet kiss.

My body hums, my blood pumping through my veins like lava.

My shaky hands slip around his neck and knot in his hair.

I can’t help the soft moan that slips from my lips, and Aaden takes advantage.

His tongue snakes into my mouth and slides against my own.

A shiver works its way up my body, and the soft, gentle kiss becomes harder.

His hand drops to my waist, and his fingers dig into my flesh.

Our tongues dance, caressing one another as our heavy breathing fills the room.

I’m floating, lost to the feeling of his lips.

Drunk on the feel of his hands, I’ve never felt so alive.

Without even realizing it, I pull him closer, pressing my body to his. The hard bulge of his cock presses against my stomach, and I gasp, breaking the kiss and peering up at him. My god, the man is hard as a rock. His lips are puffy and wet from our kiss, his eyes glossed over with lust.

Is this really happening? I dig my nails into his scalp, needing to do something to make sure this is real and not a dream. A low rumble builds in Aaden’s throat as he grips my hips tighter and claims my lips once again. Holy crap, this is real. Aaden is actually kissing me.

His hands move to the ties of my robe, and with a tug, they release and fall to my sides.

My pulse quickens when his arms slip around my waist, and his big hands run up my back, pulling me even closer.

The way he makes my body feel is insane.

Nothing has ever felt this good, and I have never craved someone so much.

I arch against him, needing to feel his body against mine.

I’m lost to his touch and his smell. My desperate hands slide to his chest, feeling the solid muscles under his shirt.

An image of him sleeping on my couch flashes in my mind, and I moan at the memory of just how muscular he is.

That small reaction makes Aaden’s cock twitch against me.

Something seems to snap inside of him, and suddenly, I’m being lifted off my feet and set on the counter.

He settles between my thighs as he cups my cheek, stroking it with his thumb.

My entire body trembles under his touch.

No words need to be spoken to know exactly what we’re both feeling.

I slip my hands back around his neck as he leans in to kiss me again.

It’s like he can’t fight whatever this is between us any more than I can.

My stomach flutters as he lowers his head and presses his lips to the side of my neck, sucking and licking the sensitive skin below my ear.

God, he feels amazing. I tilt my head back, giving him better access.

When I breathe his name, he wraps his arms around me, dragging my body closer to his as he picks me up.

I cling to him, feeling lightheaded as he carries me to the couch.

Our tongues swirl, our teeth clash, and my body aches in places it hasn’t in years.

He lays me down, settling over me, and I gasp when I feel his hard length press against my aching center.

My heart is pounding hard and feels like it’s going to burst through my chest. He runs his hand up my thigh as his mouth returns to my neck.

His warm hands on my flesh make me shiver, and he groans when I tremble beneath him.

He lifts his head, his face hovering just above mine as he stares down at me.

His normally aqua eyes are darker, like a storm brewing over the ocean, and the intensity swimming in them takes my breath away.

“You have no idea how badly I want you,” he breathes against my lips.

I blink up at him, my body feeling like a live wire.

This has to be a dream. A freaking amazing dream.

He lowers his mouth back to mine as his hand slides over the front of my panties.

A jolt shoots through my core, and I fist his hair in my hands.

I arch against him as he rubs his fingers back and forth over my clit through the thin material.

I suck in a sharp breath, my eyes squeezing shut as I dig my nails into his scalp.

“Fuck, Leah,” he growls. “You’re so wet.”

I should be embarrassed about that, but it feels way too good.

Then, like always, that jarring feeling that this is wrong surges forward.

It’s way too soon. I’m not this type of girl.

I’ve never been the girl who jumps right into sex the moment she meets a guy.

Panic surges through me when he slips a finger under the edge of my panties. Shit, Leah, what are you doing? Stop!

“Aaden, wait.”

His hand freezes, and his entire body tenses. He lifts his head to look at me, and his eyes widen as he takes in my panicked expression. “What’s wrong?”

Tears blur my vision then roll down my cheeks. I shake my head as my chin quivers.

He sits up quickly, moving away from me like I screamed rape at the top of my lungs. “I’m sorry, I didn’t—”

“You didn’t,” I blurt out. “I’m sorry, I just—I can’t.” I cover my face with both of my hands as my tears come faster.

“Hey,” he says as he scoots closer and grabs my wrists, tugging my hands from my face. “Talk to me.”

I can’t look at him. I’m too embarrassed. Too many thoughts are rushing through my head, and I feel like an idiot for breaking down in front of him. Feeling like a fool, I push him away and scramble to my feet.

“Leah?”

The concern in his voice has me sobbing harder as I rush up the stairs. Whatever might have been between us, I have no doubt I just destroyed it.

Maybe it’s for the best.
