Chapter 8 His Birthday Party

He Nan Hang's birthday party was luxurious.

Besides students from Heng High, there were also his friends from outside school. Their outfits were fashionable and their backgrounds powerful.

The students had prepared expensive gifts—designer shoes, jewelry, car models.

He Nan Hang pushed through the crowd and walked straight to me.

"Where's my gift?"

Everyone looked at me curiously.

I lowered my voice. "It's nothing valuable."

"Do I look like I lack money?" he said fiercely.

Laughter rose around us. My ears burned as I handed him the sachet.

He looked at it in confusion. "What is this?"

"It's for helping with sleep," I explained.

He had mentioned his insomnia last time.

After hearing that, his brows relaxed. He turned the sachet over in his hands.

Then he pulled me into his arms. "Come, I'll introduce you to a few people."

I quickly broke free. He was the star of the night.

Following him made me feel painfully conspicuous. I made an excuse and slipped away.

Before I went far, I heard someone ask him, "Who is that? I haven't seen such a rustic look in a long time."

I lowered my eyes and sat in the corner.

I wasn't good at this kind of socializing.

I sat stiffly, browsing my question bank until my eyes hurt.

When I finally looked up during a break, I saw Chi Jin.

He was tall and handsome. Even in casual clothes his steady presence stood out.

He was surrounded by people who carried the same confident, relaxed aura as him.

I blinked and looked away.

Suddenly a voice interrupted my thoughts.

"Excuse me?"
