50. Finally a Light
Finally a Light
It was small at first.
The darkness of this place
nearly swallowed up the glow
from my small lamp,
but I could see in the distance
a crack of light.
It was long and thin,
and the closer I got,
the bigger it got.
My feet quickened their pace
and my heartbeat felt like a drum.
As I approached faster and faster,
I heard a voice from the distance.
It was familiar…
Hekate
It sounded like my mother.
I wanted to run to her,
but there was only so fast
my legs could carry me.
Hekate
And then I realized
where that beam of light
was coming from.
It was the opening
between a pair of
massive granite doors.
