Chapter 2 #3

“How so, Armias? What did she do?” She asked with concern but the grin on her face said she was ready to hear him bitch and complain. I was starting to wonder if this was a regular occurrence between them two.

“Last month she told me she was getting an abortion so there was no need for me to be trying to get in contact with her or to be contacting you. She didn’t even give me a chance to respond and tell her that I wasn’t with that because she blocked me again right after she sent the message.”

“I know that, Armias, because you let me know and I told you I’d do my best to convince her not to get an abortion. But I also said that I couldn’t promise anything because it’s her body and decision to make. Did you forget?”

I was floored. She had neglected to mention any of this to me.

I lied and told that nigga I was getting an abortion because I didn’t want him going out of his way to talk to me.

I had decided it would be best if he wasn’t a part of my pregnancy.

I didn’t have to be walking around broken-hearted and sad because he couldn’t be there for me in the way I wanted.

Dream had sent me his girlfriend's page and she’d posted him multiple times.

She’d already come for me over the phone, so I wasn’t going to give her the space to do it for the remainder of my pregnancy.

I was going to call him after I had my daughter so we could get a DNA test and then we'd handle the rest from there. But I wasn’t about to worry myself silly about him or his jailbird anytime soon.

“No Ms. Lucia, I didn’t forget and that’s why I’m finna crash out. I reached out to you twice after that and you told me that she was probably going to get an abortion.”

Although all of this was new information to me, I wasn’t shocked that my mom was lying on my behalf. She stressed that it was important for me to remain positive and drama free. Despite her entertaining Armias, I don’t think she trusted him to do that.

“Well she was considering it heavily at the time, baby. I didn’t lie about that.”

“So why nobody told me that she had a change of heart?”

“How do you know that she had a change of heart?”

“Because she posted pictures of her baby bump in her close friends on Instagram like she don’t have my sister’s in there.”

I cracked a smile because I knew very well that his sisters were in my close friends.

I hadn’t talked to Aspen and Aneesah since late June, but we kept each other on social media.

They still liked my posts and I did the same with them, so I figured they didn’t hate me.

I felt so cute today that I posted a picture showing off my belly for the first time to my close friends.

I didn’t care that Aspen and Aneesah could see it because it wasn’t like I was planning on hiding the rest of my pregnancy.

I had booked two maternity shoots and I was planning a big baby shower with my mom.

All of those things were going to be posted, so Armias was going to find out that I didn’t get an abortion eventually.

It made no sense to prolong the inevitable.

I didn’t think he’d be this mad, but I was very pleased.

“Well baby, I don’t know what you want me to say. It looks like Lourdes doesn’t want you to be a part of her pregnancy and that’s beyond my control.”

“So y’all lying to me and acting like she got an abortion was the answer? My daughter don’t deserve a daddy because she’s mad at me?!”

“Oh, now he’s claiming my baby?” I had to say something because he was acting like I was keeping him away for no good reason.

“That’s her?!”

“Yup,” she tittered.

“Give her the phone, Ms. Lucia.”

“Do you want the phone, Lo?”

“She don’t got no wants!”

“Armias, you better stop all that shouting in my ear before I hang up.”

“I’m sorry, mama. You know I got nothing but love for you but your daughter got me fucked up! It feels like I’m being punished when I haven’t done shit to her!”

“Mama, give me the phone,” I held my hand out anxiously.

I had a feeling he was about to start pouring his heart out and I didn’t need all my business on front street.

He’d already said more than enough in the presence of mixed company.

But really, he couldn’t have called at a better time and I was glad my mom had put the phone on speaker.

It proved the point I was just making to Nalyssa.

I wasn’t chasing behind no nigga to force him to be a daddy like her.

When my mom gave me the phone I took it off speaker and walked to my grandma’s room for privacy.

“Why are you calling my mama with this dumb shit, Armias?” I asked once the door was closed behind me.

“Man, where you at? I’m finna pull up so we can talk.”

“We can talk over the phone.”

“No the fuck we can’t, Lourdes,” he gritted. My pussy thumped when he said my name and that only pissed me off even more. “I’m not about to keep playing with your ass.”

“Nigga I’m matching your energy. You said fuck me and denied my baby.”

“I ain’t say no shit like that and you ain’t in no position to match my energy, Lourdes.”

“Why not? Because I was still residing with my EX boyfriend when I was dating you?”

“You say that shit like it’s nothing!”

“No I’m not, I’m just saying what the fuck it actually was.

And yes, I was wrong as hell for lying to you about that.

I should’ve kept it real from day one and all of this nonsense could’ve been avoided.

But hear me loud and clear when I say me and that man was done in every aspect other than sharing a lease.

I wouldn’t even say we were living together because he was never at the house.

He straight up lied to you about everything because he saw me moving on and he was mad. ”

“You still sharing a lease with that nigga?” He asked. He bypassed everything else that I said so I had no way of knowing if he believed me or not.

“No. After y’all got me kicked out of my suite I didn’t feel safe to stay somewhere he had access to, so I moved in with my mom.”

“No you didn’t.”

“What?”

“I passed around there a few times last month and I never saw your car.”

“Nigga, what?”

“Where you live at, Lourdes?”

“I was staying with my mama for lil while but I got my own place last month.”

“Alright, send me your address.”

“Why the fuck would I do that?”

“Because we need to talk about our baby. What the fuck?”

“Ain’t shit to talk about. I’ll hit you up when I give birth and then you can get a DNA test.”

“We don’t have to wait until you give birth to do that. We can do a blood test as soon as tomorrow.”

“What the fuck are you bothering me and my mama for if you have doubts? Just leave me the fuck alone. I can do my pregnancy by myself.”

“You really got the nerve to be in your feelings as if I don’t have the right to question some shit.”

“If you gotta question it then don’t even worry about it.”

“You sound childish as fuck. I’m questioning it because your actions left room for some doubt.

But deep down I know what it was because I was nutting in you 24/7.

I can believe you when you say you wasn’t fucking that nigga, but you still lied about living with him so I’d be a fool to just take your word without getting shit in black and white.

Take your feelings out of it for a second and see the shit from my point of view, bruh. ”

“Whatever,” I muttered because he was right. Before I even called him with the news of my pregnancy I accepted the fact that he might ask for a DNA test or express some doubts. I was only in my feelings now because I learned that he had a girlfriend all along.

“Yea, you know I’m right.”

“But you’re not though. You’re actually the world's biggest hypocrite. You’re mad at me for living with an ex but you had a girlfriend the whole time.”

“What?!”

“Did you forget that I talked to your girlfriend over the phone?”

“That ain’t my girlfriend though. She never was and she’s still not.”

“That’s not what she said.”

“Well she lied. I’ll admit that we have been dating since she got out of jail in July,” he divulged and my heart dropped to the pit of my stomach. “But she’s really just somebody who I dealt with over the years and it’s never been exclusive. Not that I gotta explain that shit to you.”

“But you just did though and I don’t give a fuck.

I’ve been at peace for the past month and I intend on keeping it that way.

I don’t have time for drama with you and your bitch, so like I said, I’ll hit you up when I have the baby.

” I ended the call and I would’ve blocked his number from my mom’s phone, but I was locked out.

When I walked back to the kitchen, everybody was looking at me like they were waiting for answers and Nalyssa was gone.

That was for the best. If she had stayed around and continued to bump her gums about my life I was going to curse her clean out.

“You need to block him, mama,” I said as I handed my phone over to her.

“I’m not going to do that. It’s fine if you don’t want to communicate with him, but that’s my granddaughter's daddy so I’m going to keep an open line of communication for her sake.”

“You not wrong, baby,” Granny said. “Lo-Lo Pop, you need to just come to an understanding with that boy. Your child deserves to have both of her parents.”

I rolled my eyes and sighed longingly. “That man can go to hell for all I care, Granny. I don’t have to bow down to him just because he finally feels like being bothered.”

“Jesus Christ,” Granny sighed while looking up at the sky.
