Chapter 47

At two o’clock Friday afternoon, a text from Gideon lights up my phone.

Gideon Stone

I miss you.

My heart races before I mumble, “I bet.” We’ve barely talked all week. It took patience for me to not be super needy and read into it, but he did warn me that it was going to be a busy week.

I lean back in my chair, thinking about how to respond. I should seem a little hard to get, although I’d love to see him as soon as possible. Practicing patience instead of impulsivity is hard work, but it’s giving me time to think about what I want—for us and for myself.

Dani Sommer

I miss a few things about you.

Gideon Stone

I watch the bubbles, wondering what he’ll say next. I stare at the view outside my apartment, biting my cuticles and fighting off a smile.

Gideon Stone

Movie night tonight?

Dani Sommer

Netflix and chill? Or actually watch a movie?

Gideon Stone

This playful version of Gideon is cute. I guess we’ve become comfortable with using emojis as part of our relationship. Relationship—what a loaded word. Whatever the fourth date is called, it’s nice to see a new side of him.

Gideon Stone

Can I see your apartment? I’ll handle dinner.

Dani Sommer

Sounds good. What time?

Gideon Stone

See you at 7:00?

Dani Sommer

Gideon Stone

When I hear the knock, I spring from the couch, where I’ve been anxiously awaiting him, with an odd mix of excitement and nerves. It’s a casual date, and I leaned into it with yoga pants and a fitted V-neck T-shirt.

“Hi.” I smile.

“Hi.” He leans down, pressing a small peck on my lips. His hands are full with to-go bags, and I catch a whiff of Asian food.

“Come in,” I say, taking the plastic bags from him. I step toward the living room, and he kicks off his shoes, hanging his coat on the empty hook. Gideon stalks behind me, pulling my hips into him before I reach my coffee table to set down the food.

“Your ass looks incredible,” he says and kisses the back of my neck before releasing me. “I like this off-duty look.”

“We’re watching a movie,” I remind him, trying to ignore the thrill running down my spine at his touch. The firm grip on my hips, though … It makes me want to grind my ass into him and head straight to the bedroom.

“Get cozy,” I demand while setting the to-go bags on the coffee table in front of my velvet couch. “I’ll grab plates.” From the kitchen, I ask, “What do you want to drink?” as I grab two plates and silverware.

“Water and a little bourbon.”

“No ice, right?” I ask, remembering the way he likes it from Adam’s party.

“Always … Need help?”

“All set.” I re-enter and spot him admiring my view of the river through the window.

“This is a really nice place,” he says before taking a long glance at my body. Part of me wants to tell him about how Adam is still paying my rent, but I push that thought down. No Adam talk tonight.

“Should I even attempt to turn the TV on?” I ask. His energy, especially the way he is looking at me, is pure sex right now.

“Movie first,” he says, sitting on the couch and opening all the to-go containers. “Have you ever ordered from Gold Thai?” I shake my head. “Missing out. They’re one block north and one block west of here.”

“You seem in a very good mood,” I say after taking my first bite. “I haven’t seen your jaw clench yet.”

“The night is young,” he teases, lightly running his finger down my arm. “It was a good week. Our sales and marketing teams collaborated and brought some good ideas to the table. We’re going to run some drip campaigns, targeted ads, as well as cold calling blitzes for the next month.”

I love how passionate G is about his business.

“We’re on the right path to hit our numbers.” He beams.

“What would actually happen if you didn’t hit your mid-year goal?”

“It would give board members a reason to push their agendas.” He wipes his lips before taking a sip of bourbon.

“Boards are known to first fire marketing, then sales. If those don’t solve the problem, then they fire the CEO.

I don’t want to be forced into letting people go because of politics, and I want to keep my streak of never having a down year. ”

“Don’t kill yourself trying,” I encourage with a soft smile. “Everyone misses their goals at some point.”

“I want to stay the exception.” He smirks. “Try this.” He picks up a small fried thing with his chopsticks and brings it to my mouth.

I bite into it. “Yummy.”

“Vegetarian egg roll bites. It’s my favorite thing on their menu.”

I squeeze his thigh. His thigh. It’s solid. It’s not like he is the first fit guy I’ve touched, but he is on another level.

“That photo you sent …” G smirks. “I loved it. I still love it.”

“I hope it was distracting.”

“Very. Feel free to send me distractions anytime you want.”

“Same for you … Maybe sweaty post-gym pics too.”

“It might wake you up. I’m usually done with the gym before six a.m.”

Barf. Who gets up that fucking early? “Sexy photos wouldn’t be the worst way to wake up.”

“You’re so fucking cute. Come here.” His lips crash into mine, and I love it.

We both take a few bites of our food, and I’m too curious.

“Any update on PR?”

“Didn’t find anyone as inspiring as you.” He kisses my temple.

I internally melt, but flash him a bratty smile, causing him to bite his lip. I glance at him as he eats, and it hits me again just how at ease I feel around him. “Full?”

“Satiated? No. I haven’t tasted you yet.”

I swat his arm, blushing at his directness. His passion for eating me out is something I will never complain about.

“Keep the leftovers so you have plenty to snack on,” he says, closing up the boxes.

“I can’t be eating like this all the time.”

He pinches my side. “Plenty of room for more meat.”

Yeah, sure. I sarcastically laugh.

“What’s that response about?” He stares deeply. “I would never put pressure on you to look a certain way.”

“You say that now.”

“As long as you’re happy and healthy … Whatever that looks like, who cares.”

I give him a suspicious look. “Mr. Gains,” I tease. “Some of us are not looking for gains, so you’re taking all of these leftovers home with you.”

He laughs and takes the containers and plates into the kitchen.

“Do you really eat like this all the time?” I ask from the couch, loving the fact that he is handling cleanup.

“I splurge about every sixth meal,” he says from the kitchen. “That’s my strategy. Eat well for five meals in a row, then throw moderation and responsibility out the window for meal six.”

I grab for the remote and queue the movie, waiting for him to return.

“What are we watching?” he asks, sitting on the couch. G moves a pillow, placing it on his lap. “Lie down,” he says, patting the pillow.

“Only Lovers Left Alive.” His brows furrow as if he’s never heard of it. “It’s with vampires, but a different take on it. It’s good! It doesn’t follow the cookie-cutter story arc, and the music is great.”

I rest on my side with my head on the pillow. He sweeps my hair off my shoulder, exposing my neck. G lightly trails his finger along it. As the movie starts, his hand loosely holds me above my hip at the indent. This feels perfect. I love spending time with him.

“Do you want a blanket?” G asks.

“I’m good … The blanket you got me is so hot too. I love it. But it’s too hot to snuggle in.”

He laughs at the movie’s humor and cultural criticism, and it brings a smile to my face. He’s my kind of person.

His hand begins to trail under the hem of my shirt, teasingly caressing my stomach.

“G,” I warn. It doesn’t faze him as he dips his fingers below the fabric of my yoga pants. I roll on my back and look at him. “Are you distracting me?”

“You’re distracting me.” He slides his hand deeper into my yoga pants. “No underwear.” His jaw clenches, and he chuckles to himself after tightening his bite. “How do you expect me to react?”

I smirk, and then his finger dips inside me.

“Dani,” he growls. “What have you been thinking about?” He bends to kiss my forehead. “Baby …” His finger slowly goes deep and then pulls out. “I’m fully distracted.” He rubs the side of my face with his other hand before running a thumb over my lips. I open my mouth and close my eyes.

“You’re such a dirty girl,” he says, inserting two fingers into my mouth. I suck on them, imitating a blow job. “I’m so hard for you.”

His thumb circles my clit, and I gasp as he dips in deeper. “Are we doing a marathon tonight?” he asks, his voice low.

I nod with my mouth full of his fingers.

“Good.” He pulls his fingers out and runs them down my chin. “I want to finish you with my tongue.”

Moving down to the other end of the couch, he flashes me a smirk as he pulls off my yoga pants, taking my leg over his shoulder and pressing a kiss to my calf.

“You’re a goddess,” he murmurs, then dives between my legs, his tongue immediately finding the perfect rhythm.

“Fuck,” I moan as his tongue applies firm pressure on my clit. The city lights fill my apartment as the movie continues to play. Gideon is everything. His hand slides up to my stomach and presses down on my pelvis.

“I want you to squirt,” he says between my legs.

“What?” I pant. “I don’t think I’ve ever done that.”

“Do you want to try?”

All I can manage is a nod.

“Let me grab a towel,” he says, and I point to the bathroom. Returning, he lifts both of my legs with one hand like I weigh nothing as he places the towel under me. “I like firsts,” he says. Then goes back between my legs before he presses his hand firmly on my lower stomach.

“It feels like I’m going to pee,” I whisper.

“Good.”

I flash him a nervous smile, and he smirks, changing how he’s fingering me. His fingers start stroking differently, like he’s rubbing my wall. It’s a whole new stimulation.

“Fuck,” I pant.

“That’s your G-spot.” He smirks before going back to flicking his tongue on my clit.

How have I gone this long without anyone doing this to me? My God.

“G,” I pant. “Holy shit.” The pressure on my lower stomach. His tongue. His fingers pumping. “I’m so close.” I rock and writhe, nervous I’m going to pee but overwhelmed by the sensations. His big hand. The increased pressure. I shatter, screaming out, feeling wetness on the towel under me.

“I love the waves of your orgasm,” he says, cupping my vagina as he lightly kisses up my body.

“I’ve died.” I breathlessly laugh.

“I’m never going to get enough of you.”
