Chapter 5 #3
“Keep talking like that and I’ll have your ass thrown out. We don’t tolerate that kind of disrespect here, so if that’s what you’re looking for, you can leave and go to the club down the street on the corner.” My tone is calm as I focus my attention on a whiskey glass to clean.
“Whatever man.” He scoffs and disappears into the sea of people.
“Hey Isaac, can I get eight more beers please?” Sydney approaches the bar, setting her tray on the countertop and blows a piece of hair that fell out of her face.
“How is your night going?” I pop the top off of the beers and set them on the tray.
“It’s been insane. And the creeps in VIP are starting to get a little handsy.” The bottles clink as she picks up the tray and she winks at me. “Nothing I can’t handle though.”
It’s almost closing time and I have yet to see Serena. Unless she left, I should have seen her by now. I hate that I’m stuck behind the bar and can’t go find her.
“Mr. Moreno?” The noise around me disappears and all I hear is the angelic voice calling me from down the counter.
I turn around and there she is.
Her long caramel hair cascading down her back in big loose curls, a couple pieces plastered to her sweat covered forehead.
She has more make up on than I’ve seen her with before.
She doesn’t need it, but damn does she look sexy with her dark liner and long lashes, paired perfectly with full deep red lips.
I know it’s wrong, but I can’t help imagining those perfectly plump lips leaving red lipstick around my cock.
If it wasn’t torture enough, she is wearing a strapless tight fit red sequin dress that hugs her curves in all the right places and accentuates that perfect round ass of hers. Her bouncy tits threatening to spill over the top of her dress.
Jules strolls up and stands next to Serena.
“Do you know him?” Confusion falls over Jules’ face when she looks over at her.
“Yeah.” Serena mutters, slumping onto the stool beside her. “That’s Crazy Coffee Guy.”
I huff out a quiet laugh “Crazy Coffee Guy huh?”
“Yeah, what person in their right mind would buy a stranger a coffee, write a cryptic message and oh so conveniently need an appointment at the same clinic she just so happens to work at.” She slurs her words and rolls her eyes. “Hence, Crazy Coffee Guy.”
Just as sassy as I remember. I like it when she’s sassy.
I can’t wait to show her just what that sass will get her some day.
Jules’ eyes move slowly from Serena to mine and then back to Serena. “Girl, I know you said he was good looking, but you didn’t tell me he was this freaking hot.”
Serena’s eyes widen and her cheeks flush when she realizes that I now know that she has been talking about me. I’m flattered. I’m glad to know I'm on her mind.
Because she hasn’t left mine since we met.
“What else have you been saying about me?” I tease.
Serena’s head falls into her hands and covers her face as she lets out a groan. I’m about to give her another dig, but something on her arm catches my eye.
“What the fuck is that?”
“Huh? What is what?” She raises her head and tilts her head in confusion. God damn she’s adorable.
“That!” I gesture to her arm and the reddish-purple marks on her upper arm. It looks like a handprint. Let me find out someone thought he could put his hands on my girl. The moment I do, they will be begging me for mercy.
“Oh it was nothing.” She says with a shrug. “Just some arrogant asshole thinking he could get me into bed by buying me some drinks.”
“When did this happen?” I press.
She scoffs. “Why do you care? It’s not like you’re my boyfriend.”
My fists tighten at my side. A fact I’m all too aware of. “When. Did. This. Happen.” I repeat through gritted teeth.
Her expression falls and her eyes flicker.
“I don’t know… like half an hour ago or something.” She turns away from me, toward Jules. “Can we go? I feel like I’m going to hurl again, and I’ve got a headache coming on.”
“Of course, girl.” Jules is already pulling out her phone. “I will order an Uber.”
This had to have happened when I was in the bathroom. Of course, the one time I leave the bar, Serena comes up and I’m gone.
Not only that, but someone's hands were on her, hard enough to leave a mark.
The guy from earlier comes to my mind. His demeanor and timing of everything makes me inclined to believe he was the one who touched her.
I will not rest until I find him and cut his fucking hands off for marking up my angel.
Because the thought of someone harming her, of putting their hands on her, doesn’t sit right with me. I try and tell myself that it shouldn’t affect me so much. That she’s not even mine, yet.
But the instincts are still there. Clawing their way from my chest. Possessive in a way that I don’t even bother trying to explain. I’m going to lose myself to this girl and enjoy every step of the way.
“Goodbye Mr. Moreno. I’ll be seeing you.” Serena wobbles off of the bar stool. Leaning against Jules, they both leave for the exit.
Did my Little Firecracker just mock me? If I wasn’t so angry I’d be amused.
