Chapter Eleven

Ω Blakely Ω

I really hate when I fall asleep on the couch. It makes my back really stiff. I’m up early, though, so I’m able to move to my bed to get comfortable again.

My phone ended up dying when I was out to dinner with Charlotte. When I got in the shower, I plugged it in in my bedroom.

I walk to my bedside table and look at it for a second. My heart sinks when I see all the texts from Bronx.

Bronxy: Hey. Sorry. It’s been really busy, but I wanted to check in with you to make sure you got home safely.

Bronxy: How was your dinner?

Bronxy: Okay. I’m starting to get worried now.

Bronxy: I know I’m blowing up your phone, but I don’t really care.

Bronxy: Okay, I’m definitely worrying. I just want to know that you’re okay.

Bronxy: I’m clingy. Pretty sure you’re used to it, lol.

Bronxy: I’m calling your dad.

I see the last message was at three this morning. It’s seven now. Did he really call my dad? My dad didn’t come over here to see me. Or maybe he did. I don’t know.

There’s a knock on my door followed by a ping on my phone. I look down at it and laugh when I see Bronx's name pop up again.

Bronxy: Your dad told me you were safe at home. Wanna come let me in? :) I’m tired

I laugh and shake my head again. He’s cute. I head downstairs and to my front door. I quickly unlock it before opening the door for him.

“You’re clingy, huh?” I tease as he walks in.

“Yes I’m clingy. You know I am.” He heads upstairs.

“What are you doing?”

Bronx turns to look back at me. “Someone kept me up all night. I’m heading to bed,” he says to me like I should’ve known that answer.

I follow after him. “I didn’t keep you up all night. I came home. My phone died while I was out, so I put it on the charger and played a movie. I didn’t realize I fell asleep until I just woke up. I’m sorry. It really was my plan to text you.” I frown.

I didn’t think he’d be up all night worrying about me. I thought he’d be busy with calls, and I’d be able to message him before I went to bed. Bronx plops down on my bed and lays down. “No apologies needed. I just wanted to make sure you were safe. Your dad found you, though.”

“You really woke my dad up?” I ask.

I thought he was messing with me. “Yes. I wanted to make sure you weren’t in a ditch somewhere.”

Wouldn’t he have known if I was in a ditch? Considering he’s… well… a paramedic.

“Well, he does have my location.”

“Yeah, that doesn’t surprise me.” Bronx chuckles. “He wasn’t too happy with me about calling him, but I don’t feel bad for it at all.”

I laugh. “Don’t regret a single thing, huh?” I lay down beside him.

“Nope. I would do it again if I needed to know if you were safe or not.” Bronx grins. “But now that I know you’re safe, you don’t have to lay with me. I know you’ve got work you need to do. I just need to sleep for a few hours, and then I’ll be good to do whatever.”

“I thought the plan was to work on your house?” I ask him.

“Ugh, that's boring. That can be tomorrow’s problem.” Bronx closes his eyes and lays his head on the pillow. “Tomorrow’s… Next week’s. I don’t want to do it today.”

I shake my head. I figured that was going to happen. I’m not going to push it, though. I pull up a random TV show on my TV and turn it down a little. Bronx used to hate sleeping in silence, I don’t know if that’s the same now, but I want him to be comfortable.

I pull the blanket over Bronx and notice he’s already sleeping. He has the softest snore. He’s so cute, I can’t handle it. I want to keep him all to myself.
