Chapter Thirty Four
Ω Bronx Ω
This isn’t going how I imagined it would. I thought she would be excited about it. She used to talk about wanting a book signing all of the time.
“You… what?” she asks me.
I walk around to her side of the island. “I signed you up to be a part of a book signing. I have everything set up and prepared. And a back up plan!” I try to calm her down.
If looks could kill, I would be a dead man right now. She looks exactly like her dad right now.
“You signed me up for a book signing when I specifically told you that I don’t want to write anymore. Being an author is not for me. I like writing, but I write for enjoyment. Not a paycheck or any other person's satisfaction.” Blakely crosses her arms.
“I know that, butterfly. I do. I just wanted to give you an option to see people at the event if you wanted to. I said I had a back up plan. Charlotte said that she would take your spot at the event and be there instead of you. See, butterfly? Trust me. I wouldn’t have done this if I didn’t think of every possibility. ”
Blakely sighs. “That’s not my point here, Bronx.
I’m upset because you went behind my back and signed me up for something that I have expressed I’m not interested in.
I know you tried doing it as a surprise.
You thought I’d change my mind and want to do it, but I really don’t.
I hated seeing all of the bad reviews on my books.
No one is going to want to pick them up,” Blakely tells me with a frown.
“You don’t know that, butterfly.”
“I do know that Bronx. No sales happened when I originally had them up. The few that did happen left awful reviews. I don’t want to go and face a bunch of people that hate my books.”
I feel like a complete jerk for doing this now. I thought she’d be excited about the opportunity.
“I’m ,butterfly… I didn’t think about it in that way.
I thought you’d be excited to meet other people who write just like you.
Who have felt the way you feel about your books.
I can call the person who’s running the event and tell them we’ve changed our minds.
I will take care of everything okay?” I stand in between her legs.
Blakely wraps her legs around my waist. “Well… maybe we can go as attendees instead of an author table… It would be a cute date.”
I chuckle. “Anytime I get to spend with you is the best date I could ever be on, babe… I do have a small date planned for us tomorrow.” I kiss her cheek. “You’re everything to me.”
“You’re everything to me. I can’t believe you got Charlotte in on this, and she didn’t even tell me anything. I thought she was looking at plants with Alex today.”
I chuckle. That's the cover story I told her to say. “They’re gardening now. After they helped me, that’s where they went. It’s not a lie. Just not the whole truth. I can’t believe she’s getting Alexander to garden. I need to go over and see them doing it together. That man is so whipped for her.”
Blakely grins at me. “I know how that is. I have this pretty great guy who’s obsessed with me, too.”
I laugh and lift her off the chair she’s on. “Being obsessed with you is the easiest thing I can do. You’re the most perfect woman…” I walk us up to our bedroom. “I love you with every ounce of my being.”
Blakely nips my earlobe, and I grunt. “Loving you is the easiest thing I could ever do.”
