Chapter Thirty Seven
Ω Blakely Ω
“Did Bronx tell you anything about what he’s doing today?” I ask Charlotte.
It’s not that he doesn’t surprise me… He just doesn’t typically send me away for the day to do it. Charlotte shakes her head at me.
“No. He planned it with Alexander. So, I know they both have something cooked up together. Or I, at least, assume that they do. They even wanted to keep Oliver so it would be just us two.”
“That’s… weird. Do you think that Alexander is proposing?” I ask.
That would be so cute. They’re honestly one of the best couples that I know. They fit together really well. Oliver loves Alexander, too. So it helps a lot.
Charlotte laughs. “Oh my lord. No. We just moved in together. I am not putting my kid through too many life changing things all at once. We’re taking it slow on purpose. I know he’s my forever. I don’t need a ring to prove that. He doesn’t need it either.”
“So, you want to marry him?”
“Eventually. Yes. I don’t want to rush anything. I like the pace we’re going right now. Do you think Bronx is proposing?”
I grin at her. We’re sitting in chairs beside each other getting a pedicure. “He’d have to talk to my dad before doing it. But I’m not sure, he could be. He doesn’t like wasting time.”
We’ve already spent so much time away from each other. I don’t want to wait any longer either. Charlotte turns her head and watches our food delivery order come in.
The smell of fried chicken hits my nose. My stomach turns, and I have to cover my nose so I don’t gag. “Why does that smell so awful?” I ask.
Charlotte laughs like I’m joking. The more I smell the chicken, the more I want to throw up everything I’ve eaten today.
“You’re not joking,” Charlotte finally realizes. I shake my head. One of the employees takes the food from Charlotte and takes it out of the room. “Are you feeling alright?”
“Yeah… I think so. Something about the smell of that…” I gag at the thought. “Oh, it made me feel really nauseous. Like a whole body type feel.”
Charlotte is quiet as she stares at me. “Has that happened before?”
I shake my head.
“Have you felt sick in the mornings?”
I shake my head.
“Did you miss your period?”
I laugh. “If you want to ask me if I’m pregnant, just ask the question.”
“Are you pregnant?”
“No. Of course not.” I feel like she’s definitely reading too much into this.
“Do you use protection?”
“What are you? My mother?” I tease her. Charlotte just stares at me. “We… don’t. Never have.”
“Oh my lord, Blakely. We need to go to the store and get a test.” Charlotte gets on her phone doing who knows what.
“I’m not pregnant, and I don’t want to go to the store. My dad will be here soon. We’re going to look at cars. I’m probably going to get a Bronco. I want a blue one.”
My dad told me he had to finish lunch with his friend, and then he’d be on his way to pick me up.
“Blakely. You need to get a test. I’ll buy them and drop them off at the house later if you want.”
“It’s not that big of a deal, Charlie. You don’t need to worry as much as you are,” I promise her. “Bronx and I have talked about wanting kids. So, it’s not like a big deal if I am.”
We want kids. We want a big family. We want all of this. I make enough to not have to worry about adding on to our family. We’re in this forever. I know it.
Charlotte’s mouth hangs open. “I don’t understand how you don’t stress out or worry about anything. Getting pregnant and starting a family is a big thing, and you’re talking about it like it’s no big deal. Did your mom ever tell you about any of this?”
I laugh. “No. I’ve never met my mom.”
Charlotte’s mouth drops open at my response, which only makes me laugh harder. I’ve never brought up my mom before, and she’s never asked.
“Don’t apologize. You didn’t know. It’s not something that hurts my feelings. That’s why I get to joke about it.”
Charlotte looks like she just saw a ghost, but simply nods.
“It’s a big deal, but it’s nothing to stress out about. We love each other. We want to be together. We’re living together. Besides, it’s not like you get pregnant, and then the next day, a baby pops out. You have nine months to plan.”
“You stress me out.”
“My dad taught me that most things are not worth stressing out over. Getting pregnant? Not one of those.”
I smile as I see my dad walk up to where we’re sitting. “Hey, princess. Hey, Charlotte. Are you ready to go?
“Hey, Mason.”
I stand up from the chair I’m sitting in. My pedicure was done a while ago. I was just sitting with Charlotte while she waited for hers to dry. “You guys go and have fun. I’m going to sit here a bit longer while my toes dry.”
My dad gives me a tight hug before we head to where his Bronco is parked outside. “What do you think about getting a Bronco like mine?” he asks me.
“I would love nothing more than to have a matching car. Bronx would be so jealous.”
“That’s my goal in life. To make everyone jealous that you’re my daughter.”
