Chapter 12

Chapter Twelve

BELLAMY ROSE

“Oh, my beautiful babies. I swear if there was another way, I would do it, but we have to trust Fate is going to bring us back together,” my mom said with tears steadily falling from her face as she hugged me then my younger sister Brynlee.

So many things were going on around us that I couldn’t even begin to process any of it. My best friend had vanished. Distraught over the loss of her father, she ran without telling anyone. Now, my mom was telling Brynlee and me we had to go away for a while. What the hell did any of this mean?

“Go where? We don’t want to leave you and Dad.” I frowned in an attempt to hold back my own tears. Brynlee was already bawling her eyes out. I had to be the strong one.

“I don’t know, but it’s for both your safety. Fate has chosen our family to fulfill The Great Prophecy. We shou—”

“I don’t care about a prophecy when it’s tearing our family apart!

” I screamed, my emotions getting the best of me.

I would never raise my voice at my mom on any other day.

She could easily knock me on my ass. Not only was she a powerful Grandeur Mage, but my dad being our pack’s enforcer taught her how to defend herself.

“Bellamy Rose, I understand you are upset, but respect me. Have I ever allowed any harm to come to either of you?” our mom asked us while looking between Brynlee and me. Her face was stern, cheeks still wet from her tears.

Our mom was beautiful. Every shifter often mentioned how much I favored her and that I favored her the most. I didn’t see it, aside from us both sharing similar chinky green eyes.

That was as far as it went. My mom’s loose curly locs were slowly turning white, and white markings were slowly beginning to form down her arms. She said it was a part of the Grandeur Mage lineage.

Apparently, the more white, the more Fate was pleased with you or something like that.

“I’m sorry, Mom. I just don’t understand.” My voice was filled with desperation.

“Mom, I don’t want to be away from you or Bellamy,” Brynlee cried as she grabbed my hand, holding it tight.

“I know, baby girl, but you won’t even remember. It will be so quick. A flash and we’ll be reunited. I promise,” our mom said as tears once again fell down her face.

“Are you ready?” a warm calming voice coming from behind my mom asked.

Looking behind our mom, we noticed a woman floating behind her.

She was short, not pixie short but shorter than your average shifter.

She was stunningly beautiful with onyx-colored skin.

She didn’t look any older than my mom; however, I could sense she was older beyond any of our years.

Her white glowing eyes filled with compassion as she looked at the three of us.

“Is this Fate in the flesh?” I asked while still staring at her in awe.

“No, my child. I am the one sent by Fate to guide you and your family. Have peace. Your mother will have a piece of you. The memories you share will be gifted back to you. It will feel as if no time has passed.” The being smiled warmly at us. “Are you ready?” she asked again.

“We are,” our mom answered for us. My heart beat erratically as the woman’s hand came out to touch us, and everything went black.

When I opened my eyes, I was back in the darkness I hadn’t been in since I was with Kenzo. Like clockwork, I waited for the glow of the woman I apparently met when I was younger. There were so many memories flashing through my brain as things slowly came back to me.

“You remember me from when I walked in the living world.”

“I guess I do,” I replied halfheartedly because I was still trying to process all the memories that were coming back to me, memories that I didn’t have but I remembered like I was there.

“You were the last one I was able to help before my sister took my life.”

“Wait. Your sisters have been coming around.”

“Calm down, my dear. Neither Tiny nor Minnie is the sister who took my life. Meeny. She has been twisted and destroyed by evil. When you see her, you will know. However, you hear her. She tries to whisper to you to deceive you. Don’t be fooled.

” She winked at me. “It’s time for you to wake up. You need to remember everything.”

“My head,” I said as I slowly sat up with my hand on my throbbing head. My brain felt like it was about to explode. I’d never had a headache like the one I was having right now.

“Are you okay?” I recognized Halo’s voice. For whatever reason, hearing her voice pissed me off. I wanted Kenzo, not Halo.

“No,” I snapped unintentionally before dropping my head into my hands. I massaged my head, trying to alleviate some of the pain. Slowly, my headache was subsiding.

“I can go to my Healing office to get you some medicine,” Halo offered, unbothered by me snapping at her.

“No, no, no. My headache is getting better. Where is Kenzo?” I asked as I lifted my head to look at Halo. Today, she was dressed simply in a black fitted maxi dress.

“Minnie and Tiny asked them to get everyone together, and with all the kids, it takes a while to get everyone together. Trust me. He didn’t want to leave your side, but Minnie pretty much made him.”

Halo chuckled while looking down at her pup in her arms. The little pup was adorable.

I had never wanted pups before, but looking at Halo’s mini me made my ovaries ache.

The little she-wolf had two puff balls in her hair, chubby cheeks, and little pouty lips.

The only thing I assumed she got from her father was her sun-kissed skin complexion.

I loved that Halo had her pup in a black dress similar to hers.

I couldn’t wait until I was able to do stuff like that.

“She so pretty,” I gushed, forgetting about my headache just that fast. I had the strangest urge to hold Halo’s pup. A sense of pride filled my body while looking at Halo and her pup. My memories were coming back slowly… however, I still couldn’t place where Halo came from.

“She’s spoiled rotten, which is why I’m holding her big self while she’s sleeping. Creeland’s stupid self has her thinking she needs to be held while she’s asleep.”

“I’m sure she has him wrapped around her finger.” I chuckled at the frown on Halo’s face. Relief filled my body as my headache became more faint.

“She does. I highly doubt she’ll be a big sister any time soon. A'Miracle is actually really fond of your mate as well. Creeland hates it. He gets so jealous whenever A’Miracle wants to be held by Kenzo,” Halo replied, tickled by her mate’s jealousy.

“Cree seems like the character. I can only image how he is. Ouch.” I winced as a pain shot through my knee.

“What’s wrong?”

“I think I need to get up and stretch my legs,” I said as I threw my legs over the side of the bed.

“We might as well head over to Delcan and Naiobi’s. It’s not far from here. Since they have more pups than anyone else, we figured it would be easier to go to their house.”

“Where are we now?” I asked with confusion while standing to my feet.

“Alexander and Amaree’s house. The brothers' parents' house. It was the closest place to get you to once you passed out.”

“Oh, okay. Let’s go,” I said and followed Halo as she led the way out the room.

“I can’t wait for you to meet everyone,” Halo said once we made it outside. Stepping off the porch, we walked toward a dirt path that led toward the woods.

“Who is the girl with the orangish fire red hair?” I asked with a slight frown while thinking about the she-wolf from earlier.

I personally didn’t like her attitude. I got that shifters were possessive over their mates, but she didn’t know me from a can of paint, and I didn’t even speak to her funky little mate.

Yeah, he was handsome but nowhere near as fine as my mate… I mean Kenzo.

He’s our mate.

My wolf didn’t sound too pleased with me. I chuckled at her annoyance. It was a weird feeling, like I was sharing a body with something else, but I was slowly getting used to it.

“Oh, Zamiyah.” Halo stopped walking and turned to me. “She’s such a sweetheart.”

I looked at Halo like she’d lost her mind. There was no way we were talking about the same she-wolf.

Smacking my lips, I replied, “More like she’s rude as hell. Calling me a hoe.” I folded my arms across my chest.

Halo made duck lips with her eyes wide in shock. Then a look of clarity crossed her face. “You look just like Bellum. She used to sleep with her mate Yves.”

“But what does that have to do with me? I don’t care who looks like me.

My name is Bell-a-my. I’m sick of hearing about Bellum.

She was fucking my mate too. I don’t like her ass either.

” I was talking faster than my brain could process the words I was saying, and from the knowing smirk on Halo’s face, she’d heard what I said.

“Oh, so you claiming Kenzo now?” Halo asked as she shifted her pup from one shoulder to the other.

“That’s not what I meant.”

Yes, it is. He’s our mate. No one else's.

“Mmmhmm, tell me anything.” Halo gave me a playful smile before she turned to start back walking on the dirt path that was leading into the forest.

We were a few feet from the entrance of the forest when I heard a weird hissing sound.

“Did you hear that?” I asked Halo as I stopped in my tracks.

“No,” Halo replied while looking back at me, confused. “What was it?

“I don—” My words cut short when a human-sized, green lizard jumped from a tree, blocking our pathway.

“You can’t be serious,” Halo muttered.

“What the hell is that?”

“A Chameleon shifter, and wherever there is one, there are more to follow. Y’all might as well show yourselves,” Halo said, her tone a mixture of annoyance and worry.
