I stared at all the puzzled gazes directed to me.
Don's stare was far too obvious he was trying to read through my mind.
But the worst gaze was from Rhys and Lucy.
Their gazes were searing holes into my forehead.
Jenny just sat on the sofa beside me, her expression unwavering, as she stared fixed at mostly Lucy.
“So… why are we here?” Rhys asked after the two minute silence since everyone had settled down.
Normally, I wouldn't care to call them even though it had to do with their daughter (you may call me mean, but still, why would I care about them), but I realized since Don is a man of power and so is Rhys.
If I can combine both powers, June might be found quicker.
Smart, right?
I turned to Jenny who didn't return the gaze. “Can you please repeat everything you told me earlier today.”
All gazes shifted to her, but she still didn't seem affected, and still not staring away from Lucy.
“I apologize for not saying this earlier, but Miss Silver is pregnant.”
No way was I missing the three expressions.
Don shifted back in the chair in shock. Lucy gasped, her hand flying to her chest while Rhys stared in disbelief.
“W-What are you saying?” Lucy asked, tears trembling on her lashes.
Jenny took in a small, slightly inaudible breath. “Let me elaborate.”
Don turned to me with drawn brows, before directing his gaze to Jenny.
“About five weeks ago,” she started, “she was very frustrated because Hane had given her news that Don and Eri had done some romantic stuff together.
“Out of frustration, she said she wanted to go to a club to calm down. I wanted to follow her because that was what I always did whenever she was very annoyed and was heading to a club, but she'd told me she'd be fine and I was also unwell so she told me to rest.
“She went and came back really happy and relaxed, so I guessed she had done something or seen something nice that made her so happy. I didn't bother asking.”
She sighed a little, her gaze still not leaving the close-to-tears Lucy. “And then about three weeks ago, she told me she was pregnant.
“I was so surprised and asked her how. She told me she had met Don at the club and they'd had sex.”
The gasps from Lucy and Rhys were capable of killing someone. All gaze shifted to Don whose eyes had never been widened further.
He turned to me, probably trying to read my reaction to the shocking news. But then his expression softened when I offered him a small smile.
“Please, let her finish.” I said, causing them to turn to Jenny again.
“She told me she had had sex with Don,” she continued, “and was pregnant for his child. But I didn't believe her, although I didn't tell her that. It just felt weird for her to have met and had sex with Don so —I don't know— easily.
“Well then, I went to do my own investigation and found out she'd had sex with some random dude and just left. She probably thought he was Don since she was drunk.
“And now, she's pregnant which is one of the reasons I really want her to be found so her baby's safe and she is too.”
A smile appeared on my lips as Rhys jumped to his feet, pulling his phone out of his pants pocket, before dialing a number and leaving to take the call.
I smiled when Rhys got up, pulling his phone from the pocket of his pants and dialing a number, then sauntering out of the place.
“I'm going to be a grandma?” Lucy said, then covered her face with both palms, sobbing into it.
Jenny scurried towards her, taking the space beside her, then began patting her back gently. “It's alright.”
“June must be found.” She continued sobbing. “My grandchild must be safe. If anything happens to my grandchild, I won't forgive her.”
I met Don's stare and our gaze locked. It was like he was communicating through our gaze.
And when I smiled, he smiled back.
I shrugged. “Even I'm not sure. I guess talking woman-to-woman was the trick.”
His arms wrapped around my waist as we walked up the stairs. “And why did you decide to tell June's parents?”
“It’s about their daughter, I thought it best for them to know.”
He stopped walking, causing me to do the same and face his raised brow.
“What?” My brows pulled in feigned confusion.
“Is that really why you told them?” It was obvious he knew that wasn't the answer, so I decided to just tell the truth.
I lifted both shoulders a little, dropping them. “Hmm… I just thought, since they have some power, maybe if we could combine yours and his, we can find June in a jiffy.”
He nodded with a small smile. “I'm sure she'll be found soon.”
“I hope.”
Then we continued ambling to the room. “I can't believe she's pregnant though.”
“Yeah, and I can't believe her dad was more excited that somebody will take over the company than her being found.”
Before they'd left, Rhys had said he was happy that he wouldn't have to work as the CEO till his death and that he just had to make sure June was found, her baby was safe and he'd work twenty more years before giving the company to her child.
Don sighed. “One can't blame them. They must've been so sad watching their only child and the successor to their company turn completely insane.”
“I just hope she hasn't done a thing to the child. That'd be worse since they've put their hopes high on the child and it'd all just be of no use.”
He sighed, opening the door to our room. “The most important thing right now for everyone is for her to be found.”
We both headed in, and I just couldn't help but wonder where June was.
What she was doing. Who she was staying with.
Was she even staying with anyone?
